I am a fan of the OS, and after watching the NS, I stopped watching it for many reasons. I think many OS fans were disappointed in the fact that although they did not care for the NS, the NS fans were left hanging at episode 26. It is for this reason that I believe many OS fans, such as myself, are actually trying to help by signing petitions, etc. No OS series fan has the time to waste on writing hate mail. It is a very unThundercat thing to do. I think most of us OS fans take the code of Thundera to heart and are are doing our bit for Loyalty, even if we dislike the NS.

I love both the OS and the NS, so of course I’ll do my part.

I actually do feel the OS was better. However, I do feel that NS fans should at least be able to enjoy the 52 episodes that were planned. So that is why I showed solidarity. It is that Code of Thundera loyalty thing.

Well, I’m probably the youngest person on the Lair, but I do appreciate fans of the OS and own the whole first season. It is good, but since I was introduced to the NS before the OS, I like the NS more.
Because it’s a merchandise-dependent show that’s dependent on merchandise from a Cartoon Network program.
We all know how long those always last. :mad:
They shouldn’t have made it a toy-based show. Young Justice has done fine with the same ratings and literally no merchandise besides a failed toyline that lasted a very short amount of time. On top of that, if they do kill the show because of the toyline not selling, that’s just a BS excuse. As mentioned before, Young Justice gets the same ratings and has survived. There’s nothing wrong with a show without a toyline, but I guess the heads of the show and CN thought they could use it as an advertisement for the toyline.
I have stated before I think the show is almost too dark for kids at the age where they want toys. I’d say a good amount of the kids who watch it are older, seeing how it has much more mature themes and violence than stuff like Green Lantern and Level Up.
In summary, I don’t think the toys should have ever judged the future of the show. The only case where I can see that being logical is if the show is based off a toyline that existed before it. With the ratings the show got, it shows no reason to be axed besides CN just not liking the show.

Read Hear the Roar about the OS. Toys were key from the beginning, but the audience was indeed skewed younger. It was planted in the right time-slot and 5 times a week, not once a week.
I think the toy line for NS was always intended for the older, collector fans. If the toys were for younger kids, the NS was not geared to them in scope and time frame. Thus, no commercials, no sales, inadequate ratings.
Recently came to my mind, I wonder whether the second season may be completed for Japanese audiences only…

The merchandising agreements subsidized the show’s production. The NS carried a very very expensive price tag compared to other shows. Also it was not linked to an established property like DC or Lucas Films, or LEGO. With out a successful merchandising component the show becomes too expensive to produce and continue. That’s why you see shows like Adventure Time and Regular show pop up and stay around. (Cheap, quick, filler)
You can bet that Bandai has some sort of an out in their licensing agreement that they will execute, and then that will effectively end the NS.
