It sure is, why release it if the show is dead? Is it even showing on TV anymore? If it’s cancelled the only reason must be they want a quick cash-in before the 2011 show is completely dead.

i meant to ask if you’ve heard anything, but i guess it’s still up in the air. if it’s worth anything, i really enjoyed it and i hope the higher-ups decide to keep it going. you guys did an awesome job.” So maybe he doesn’t know and things are just looking bad for the show. I don’t know. i guess i am trying to find loops hole for the show not being cancelled.

The message may be cryptic but could mean several things. Dan Norton from the very beginning has been very fan oriented and tried posting sketches, pictures anything he could. Anyone that has had that chance to talk to Dan knows he truly appreciated the fans and honestly felt blessed to have the chance to work on the show. My biggest fear from what was posted is the possibility of Dan being replaced as the art director. I hope that is not the case because I believe the art on the show has been amazing and this show actually is doing the name of Thundercats justice.
If the show is canceled, that is not a time to get depressed. It should make everyone want to fight more. Shows like Family Guy and Futurama have been canceled on more then one occasion and were brought back.
In order for a TV show pilot to get picked up and turned into a series, its pilot episode must have AT LEAST 500,000 viewers. I’m sure cartoons are somewhat different but once you start getting into numbers like that that’s when networks start really paying attention. We need to REALLY get the word out there and let people know whats going on.
The facebook page that was started ( www.facebook.com/Savethundercats ) has been up for only 2 weeks and already has 3,400 fans. Part of this is because it is being advertise WORLD WIDE. Believe it or not the highest numbers of fans are coming from Mexico. We really need to get US and UK Thundercats fans involved!
I’m taking an idea from a local sports talk radio guy out here in Philadelphia. Once a year he does a promotion/contest where he creates a celebrity list and if you are able to get a celebrity from the list to call his show you then win some kind of crazy prize. He also excepts celebrities not on the list and they judge based on their popularity. The majority of his listeners end up going to Twitter and blow up the celebrities twitter asking them to call in for them. Every year it works and they have tons of celebrities call into the show.
So here’s my idea, if EVERYONE tries contacting celebrity Thundercats fans and try for them to promote the petition, the facebook, EVERYTHING, this would get thousands if not millions of people attention. Even if they just post the link from the twitter and say something along the lines of “help save thundercats” or something along those lines. It could be huge in helping the success of the show.
I have done some researching and have only been able to find a few celebrities that have openly talked about being a fan off the show or the original. I’m sure there are tons more. There may be people on this site with connection to a celebrity that could help with the cause and that would be GREAT!! I think this is probably most likely the case. I would bet the only one who knows anything concretely is Jelenic. While Dan is high on the food chain of the NS, there are still way more people over him with possibly more knowledge of the situation. Also recall the way MJ dodged and weaved the TC question at SDCC.
Somebody must contact Jack Black. He was a fan of the original series!
If we can’t get a new season, then maybe we should start trying to get an ongoing comic series. The original Teen Titans had one which lasted quite a while after the show ended, and they used it to tie up some loose ends. Plus, a comic series would be a lot more probable, considering it would be much cheaper to produce than an animated tv series. Transformers has had some profitable comics, so it could work. An ongoing comic may end up being the best compromise between Warner Bros. and the fans. Just something to help tell the rest of the story.
Now, if they decide to retool it for a new season, it could go two ways. One, they make it very different, like how all these Batman cartoons are different (BtAS, The Batman, Batman: tBatB, and now Beware the Batman). Personally, I really don’t want this because it would put everything back to square one and we still wouldn’t get a good conclusion to the previous season.
What I’m hoping it could be is a change of staff, but keeping with the same art style and story, similar to what happened to the 90’s Iron Man and Fantastic Four cartoons. Those had very poor first seasons, but instead of being cancelled they hired new people to work on the shows, keeping mostly the same art style, voices, etc. and keeping with the previous season’s story. I could live with this, and it could lead to improvements. I would still like it if they kept Dan as art director since his style really captures the essence of ThunderCats, but hopefully they would be able to get someone with a similar style. They might change animation studios to one that’s cheaper, but not too cheap, like the Korean studio that does Young Justice.
I suggested this awhile back, and I think it is the best way to continue the story without making another season. Comics are not very expensive to make, and when you take out the voice actors, animators, directors, and several others, you don’t have to spend nearly as much money. Actually, a comic book could be really awesome if they get the right people to work on it (Dan Norton).

They’re already screwing me over with the new Teen Titans series by not resolving the cliffhanger in season 5. I don’t want that to happen again.

I could see this being plausible as well. I would also love Dan to stay, because he did such a fantastic job and is such a huge fan. I could see why he wouldn’t want to work on ThunderCats anymore, because CN has just been so bad to the series it’s like all of his work is for nothing. If he was fired (which I doubt), then that’s just a dumb decision. I don’t think he left the show, though. I think the future of it is still in the balance and if anyone really knows what is to become of the series, they should speak out because this is just getting ****ing ridiculous.
I don’t really think he would leave. To me it seems he would tell us instead of just leaving some artwork. For example, his last journal shows that he really knows what was going on and is loyal to his fans. I think he is just preparing for the worst.
Well, when you prepare for the worst and get the best, it’s really awesome-feeling, so I don’t know. I just hate this situation they’re putting the fans in and it’s not helping them at all.
I just talked with Cap’n Cracka and he said he should be getting to the first interview in a couple of weeks. So hopefully we can have some CLEAR ANSWERS.
Good. that is EXACTLY what we need right now. In all honesty, I’ll be happier if they flat out say it’s cancelled then a whole “I don’t know…” thing.
Maybe some of us fans should get together and make our own online comic to continue the story. Won’t be official, but if WB and CN aren’t going to give us what we want we might as well do it ourselves.

I would enjoy hearing this plotline. If we do our own fan comic, I’d like to have more than just one person on the writing team, but let’s save that for another thread and another time.
Right now, I’ll just wait in anticipation for Cracker’s interviews, keep on spreading the word, and keep on hoping.
WTF CN. There are other terrible cartoons to get rid of before this one. It just needed tighter writing, the animation was amazing. I hope its just taking a hiatus but will return next year.
