the monkey society sounds good! they definitely fit the south east asian look. i’m assuming their manner of attire has less woven material, considering how Addicus looks. and just to clarify, when you mean monkey society, do you also mean to include primates? some people might consider them different.
mr. norton (DanNortonArt on DA) has some designs for characters that have not been used in the show so maybe, with persmission of course, we can use those characters? i remember a zebra character that was some sort of tracker in the desert (if i’m not mistaken).
LOL the yeti/sasquatch idea is very nice! xD do you think we could also have wolves living around the same region as this guy? i like to think there is some biodiversity in some places of third earth.

When I say monkey, I’m referring too all primates. I’m just using it as a general term since in New Alliances Slithe called Addicus a monkey, even though he’s clearly based on an ape. Mybe I should just start calling them all primates. And wolves sound cool, like a pack of arctic wolves.
Has anyone thought about maybe making a reference to the Jungle Book (Disney OR just the book) or to Planet of the Apes? Oh! What about Tarzan?!

Slithe clearly meant the monkey comment as a dig or joke. At least I hope so. I’ve been watching a lot of the old Ninja Turtles cartoon lately and as far as I can tell the writers genuinly seemed to believe that turtles are amphibians. Drives me crazy. Anyway, we sould probably follow in the footsteps of Planet of the Apes where the characters in question are actual apes (Gorrillas, Orangutans, Chimps) and dislike the use of the term Monkey as it is innacurate. We could make it someone’s berserk button. ie. He gets upset whenever someone calls him a monkey. Unless we want to use actual Monkeys with tails and everything.
We keep saying we’re holding off until we hear word as to what the staff intended for season 2. Do we have any idea how in depth they’re going to go into when they do talk about what might have been? Will they give us episode synopsis for a dozen episodes or just general infromation as to what they had planned? We should be prepared for either contingency.

i think it would be okay to have monkeys too and there could be a division of classes like what we saw in Thundera. “monkey” could be a term for the lower-class primates.
either case is certainly possible. i don’t know what would be considered the “worse case scenario” in terms of writing but i assume that a not very detailed plan for season 2 would mean more work for our writers to come up with a well-balanced plot.
I’m not insulting anyone, I’m just making sure that it was the right Tarzan because I’m a fan of the books. I’m also a fan of Conan the Barbarian.
Maybe we can call them “Monkians” after Addicus’ original name, instead of Apes or monkeys or primates.
Mentioning a division of classes, I have an idea of making the Primate’s classes similar to the Confucian Caste System of Imperial China:
Rulers and Scholars: Orangutan
Warriors and Law Enforcement: Gorillas
Artisans and Merchants: Chimpanzees
Farmers and Peasants: Monkeys
I don’t think monkeys with tails would necessarily be of a lower class than the other monkians. If they have prehensile tails and the primates mostly live in the jungles, they would have an advantage.
I think it’s a good point to bring up on whether the primates would be considered primitive or not. I was thinking that maybe they would be about the same level as the dogs, but not as primitive as the lizards seemed to be before they got their tech from Mumm-Ra. Not sure how educated or cultured they would be. I was sort of thinking that the monkians would act in opposition to the highly cultured birds like the lizards did to the cats.

I second that break down of classes. Very reminisent of the way society was divided in Planet of the Apes.
Speaking of classic animal literature, if we want to introduce another animal culture that wasn’t already displayed in the original series I vote rabbits. If for no other reason than to pay homage to Watership Down.
And for the record, The Jungle Book was written in 1894.
this could also work. the primate warriors can be divided based on speed, strength, and range attacks.
you bring up a good question. i think the analogy to lizards and cats is quite good though the primates would definitely be more aggressive. the dogs had a thing for loyalty so would the primates have something similar? respect? family?

I think the primates would value honor and respect. I think the ape society should be like a merging of three Asian cultures; Japanese, Chinese, and Mongolian. That would be an interesting notion. The architecture would be like Feudal Japan, they would have a similar linguistic as Mandarin and the orangutans would be dressed in a fashion similar to Ancient China, and the gorillas would where military uniforms similar to that of the Mongol Empire
