One assumes they probably favored the initial plan.
Though I imagine the looks instead of speaking were 90% so that they wouldn’t have to pay Matthew Mercer and Emmanuelle Chriqui to come in for one or two lines.
Because that approach has worked so well in the past? 
I think the look was simply because Pumyra is clearly making decisions based on her emotions and Lion-O is eager to prove himself to her. The group hasn’t warmed to Pumyra yet and I can’t blame them, so being skeptical of her plan is just an extension of that.
The initial plan was just as awful if not moreso, not only would they also have failed to keep the sword out of Mumm-Ra’s hands, but the slaves would have been slaughtered as well. I didn’t like Pumyra’s idea either, but at least it does reduce the number of potential casualties.
Paying less voice actors does make sense though, especially considering they not only had to get Cree Summer back to reprise her role as Panthera, but Will’s buddy Jason Marsden to voice a not-posessed-by-Lion-O Leo (although I’m sure Will helped with that a lot).

I didn’t say anything about the quality of either plan. I was just putting in why I thought Tygra and Cheetara reacted the way that they did since there seemed to be confusion about it.

It’s a pretty common practice in animation. Usually when you see major voiced characters around in an episode, but they manage not to have any spoken lines it’s a cost-cutting measure.
There was no real “good” plan at the beginning of the episode. It was choosing the lesser of two evils.
Plan 1 (Panthro): take the same route the slaves are heading and evade Mumm-Ra’s army. They might get away with the sword, but the slaves are toast.
Plan 2 (Pumyra): lure the army into the mountain and escape out the back way. They might get boxed in and captured in the mountain, along with all the loot Mumm-Ra wants; but the slaves will be safe.
Ultimately as king, I don’t see how Lion-O could have opted for the first plan. It had the most potential for disaster - not only could they have been captured anyway, but all the slaves are in trouble. The second plan wasn’t great either, but at least the worst-case scenario did not involve the extermination of his people.
I think no matter what approach the cats took, Mumm-Ra was going to get the sword back. His connection with it is too strong, and he can track the cats wherever they go with it - even underground.
As for Tygra and Cheetara’s disapproving looks, I thought it was less disapproval of the plan (what alternative was there, really) and more disapproval of Pumyra’s growing influence over Lion-O. They probably feel his judgment is being compromised by her.
I think that would be just a tad hypocritical coming from them though, especially after the events of “New Alliances.”
I think I see what your saying and may prove that Pumyra might actually be more of a tactician. Divert the enemy and risk their own lives to protect the other cats, something which Lion-O willingly does because of his selfless nature. And Pumyra putting herself as bait with Lion-O to Mumm-Ra and his forcess speaks well of the two.
Tygra and Cheetara’s disapproving looks really have me bugged, was it really because she spoke of her plan? They could have spoken back if they were really in disagreement with it. Especially Tygra since he has shown, and adamantly before, to speak up about how the situations they faced should be handled. Seems Tygra and Cheetara gave their looks as they are probably more annoyed with her presence overall.
IF Tygra and Cheetara try to convince Lion-O to kick out Pumyra from the team because they might see her as a “bad influence”, it might not go well.
I really hope the series doesn’t pursue something like this. I’d love it if we could drop all the drama within the group and just concentrate on the war against Mumm-Ra.
Especially after this episode it seems like the drama is coming to an end. I love drama, but everyone so far has had their fair share (except for the late addition Pumyra). Tygra/Lion-O/Cheetara are all on good terms, the twins are getting along fine with the group (even though there wasn’t much drama there), and Pumyra has opened up to Lion-O, so I think the drama is closing up as of now.
I haven’t rewatched the episode yet and I didn’t catch the “disapproving glances” Tygra and Cheetara had, so this is just speculation. But couldn’t they have just looked troubled because they didn’t like the idea of Lion-O going off and drawing all the danger to him?
I mean the first plan was more dangerous, but at least in that one they would’ve been there with him sharing the danger.
The first plan would have resulted in many casualties and they probably would’ve lost the sword anyway. I don’t think Pumyra’s plan was very much more superior, but at least the refugees got away and everyone is still alive.
I heard Pumyra will not be with the Cats for much longer, that she’ll only be around for several more episodes. After that, we don’t know what will happen. Bengali may actually show up to claim her, she might be killed off in some fashion, or she may decide to leave the group for some reason. Anything can happen between now and the season finale.
I still don’t like the thought of Lion-O being with a human female and so far we haven’t seen any yet. Since the writers are changing quite a few things from the old series, I’d like to see Mandora be a ThunderCat so she can be involved with Lion-O. Maybe the Warrior Maidens can be a wild tribe who are descended from a group of she-cats who decided to leave Thundera and form their own society a long time ago. That’s another angle the writers can play with.
The WilyKittens and the raccoon character Toolkit are still back in Dog City. They’ll have their own episode, which is coming up.
Was it mentioned in the show why the first plan even involved the Thunderian refugess? It didn’t look like they were totally surrounded by Mumm-Ra’s forces so it wasn’t like they only had one route of escape. It’s not like the former slaves would walk back towards The Pit and the Thundercats certainly could have used it as a fortified position if Dobo allowed it.
I didn’t like that part of “The Pit” at all, so I’m dreading the next episode. 
Oh, mos def. But we are talking about a guy who kicked his own brother down a well (twice!) and a girl who decided to make the brilliant tactical decision to start a romance with one of those brothers, after they almost just killed one another. No judgment issues there.

Anyhoo, I don’t know what that disapproving glance meant or what they were thinking…I just thought it was interesting, one of those subtle things that gets written in that you ponder the meaning of.
We’ve had confirmation that there are a couple of episodes dedicated to her, but none that she’s actually leaving the group. I would say the last couple of episodes qualify and now she folds into the rest of the cast and will have to wait to get as much attention again. Hell, in this episode she vows to follow Lion-O wherever he leads, to have her up and leave would be contradictory and awkward and having her killed off would make even less sense.
Didn’t like this episode at all. It was a step back from the past ones, IMO.
It did feel as “The Lion-o and Pumyra hour” and sent the others to the background… and I’m afraid that will continue. Also, the flashbacks were boring, and the present actions were rushed and contradcitory.
Also, Pumyra is really annoying. One minute she love Lion-o, one minute she teases him, the other she hates him. And she must chill off. As Lion-o asked her, will she ever give him a break? Please Lion-o, just let her die in the mines. I thought and hoped I’d like her more as eps go by, but I dislike her more and more with every ep.
I must confess it helps that I don’t like that she’s getting more focus and develpomenmt in 3 eps than all the other TCs together in 21 eps… and she’s taking Tygra’s role as Lion-o’s mainly opponent in the group. But even without that she’s annoying.

Your understanding must be different than everyone else, because that would completely go against what she said at the end of this episode. Also, if they killed her off, it would be for no gain. AND WHY ARE PEOPLE SO INTENT ON BENGALI BEING WITH PUMYRA!?!?! We don’t even know if he’ll be in the NS yet!
Do we like the fact that Lion-o can’t say sword of omens come to my hand. I would like to know what Will’s Lion-o sound likes saying that.
I think we’ll hear it eventually. Hopefully by the end of this season.
If I were honest with myself I’d say that the whole “Sword of Omens having a mind of its own” aspect of the OS doesn’t really fit in the new series, but I’d totally cheer if it does end up happening.
