I think Lion-O went about it this way because he feels personally responsible for hersince heâs the king. He probably was trying to impress her on some level, he admits that he hasnât done as much for the cats as heâd like because heâs had other priorities and simply staying alive was a big one. Heâs trying to show her that he didnât just abandon the cats and he wonât start now.
I just donât think it would mean as much coming from Tygra, mostly since he doesnât have anything to prove.
Pumyra would totally be the man in that relationship.lol

Someone posted some really great fanart of them on DeviantArt making out (within hours of her design being revealed) under the premise that sheâs trying to shut him up.
He probably does feel personally responsible, but what does that have to do with forgetting your assets? Rescuing Pumyra would have still been his call, but he could have gotten Tygra to sneak her out with the adding security of his invisibility powers. I think itâs the most obvious plan. It could be another one of those things that you forgive for the sake of plot, but no one likes to do that. Itâs always more clean and natural to have things fall in to place, without glaring plot holes or obvious plot conveniences . Sure, if Tygra had rescued her we wouldnât have gotten that emotional conversation in the cells, but that still leaves the question as to why he wouldnât use a better plan to rescue Pumyra. Itâs an obvious plot convenience, not poorly constructed, but obvious.
Personally, believing that he did want to look like a hero for her, is a bit more fun than saying he just didnât think about. Sure itâs a little selfish, but he doesnât have to turn into this perfect blemish free King over night. NO RESET BUTTON, PLEASE ! But he can still make mistakes.
Iâd rather say he wanted to be a clicheâ King/Prince and rescue the âfair maidenâ from her cold dark tower, rather than the plot called for Lion-O and Pumyra to hash it out, and so were going to ignore some of the obvious stuff.

Well yea. I have no problem excepting it as something we should just ignore for the sake of story. If the writers said so, I wouldnt go into a mindless fan rage. Just maybe those writers are doing something sneaky:D

I donât think Tygraâs powers work for very long (a few seconds at most) and he might not be able to make someone else invisible with him. I mean, it would be nice if they explained that prior to him going in there, but from what weâve seen in the series so far itâs not hard to infer how it works. I get what youâre saying though, Lion-O has to look like the hero so heâs the one who goes in after her.
It does bring a new context to Pumyraâs statement âMaybe you know how to act like a king after allâŚâ What do good kings do in a lot of stories? They rescue fair maidens and marry them. SHIPPING!
I like pumyraâs voice. She sounds very cool. What was she shooting?
Even so, those few seconds could have been put to good use;). Itâs better than none, right? Itâs hard to imagine that his stealth abilities wouldnât have been of use in a situation like this. Just saying, I donât have a problem with it either way. 
Yes, save the fair maiden from her cold dark tower. If the fair maiden turns out to be a snarling hissing banshee who wants nothing more than to rip your eyes out, well then you must be watching THUNDERCATS-HOOOOOOOOOO!!!
With this more mature Lion-O, I have no trouble shipping him. As long as it doesnât completely dominate anyoneâs screen time, I could get behind it.
Lion-O at then end of the episode, those no nonsense eyes : LETS GET DOWN TO BUSINESS, TO DEFEAT MUMM-RA (SOUNDS BETTER THAN PLUN-DAR )
I did find the final moment lacking, while Lion-O clenching his gauntleted fist is undeniable badass I feel like he should have said something like âWell, what are we waiting for?â
So were Lion-O and Pumya alone up there when she was patching him up and the other cats were just joining them at the end or where they there the entire time? My headcanon says alone.
I liked it. He looked so determined,like he was willing to take on anything!
Good question. It looks like they were alone, but then you can hear the rest of the group creep up behind them in like 2 steps.

Makes me wonder if something like the brutemen(spelling?) will show up around Mount Plunn-darr too. Maybe even the castle? Who knows.

With reference to sending tygra in, I think his invisibility would have been of limited use because of him being unable to make pumyra invisible anyway, plus the fact that these are dogs, didnât kaynars sense of smell ruin any tactical advantage tygras invisibility had anyway, arenât a dogs sense of smell as good as a jackals?
Besides, LionO probably couldnât trust tygra to sneak past the mutt guards without being able to resist giving them a sly kick and calling them filthy beasts! Haha!

I have to admit that for the past 25 years Iâve been so used to Pumyra being a healer that it took a while for me to get used to the fact that sheâs now a gladiator, but it was a well-done twist for this story. I was also a bit surprised that she knew who Lion-O was from the start, but she was a ThunderCat and had no doubt known about Claudus and his heir-apparent. Her anger at Lion-O for what she saw as his abandoning his people during Thunderaâs fall was absolutely believeable, though I thought her sudden change of heart at the storyâs end was not. I did like the nod to the old Pumyra by having the new one bandage Lion-Oâs arm. I expected the Dogs to raise their eyebrows at the Catsâ arrival into their city, but obviously cats other than Panthro and Pumyra had been there before, so I guess the Panthro/Dobo friendship might not have surprised the Dogs either. Doboâs relationship with Panthro and its backstory was a nice showing of opposites. The battle-pit sequences between Pumyra and the giant battle robot, Pumyra and Lion-O, and in the flashback of Panthro and Dobo were well done, but I thought the overall animation wasnât as good as it could have been. The pickpocket Toolkit was witty and suave (hey, raccoons do make for natural bandits with those facial masks), yet somehow the plot involving him and the Kittens wasnât all that funny and seemed a bit jarring when compared to the Pumyra storyline. The things I didnât like: Tygraâs needling Panthro about catching fleas in Dog City; Kat and Kit not being shown getting their stuff back from Toolkit after chasing him down, but it does explain why the Kittens werenât with the other Cats as Pumyra told them about the slaves at Mount Plundarr (which is probably where weâll find Bengali and maybe Lynx-O); and it not being shown whether or not Pumyra joined Lion-O and Company as a guide, so I guess weâll have to wait until next week to see if she did. I hope she did.
