Pumyra totally won me over when she kicked his ass in the arena..what a tough Cat!! LOVED IT!! Oh Lion O..flowers and a smolder isn’t gonna work with this one…
She talks about cats waiting until their, last breath. I think someone close to her died while she was waiting on Lion-O to come save them. She’s not just angry, but she’s also sad. You can see her start to cry in the middle of their discussion. She probably lost a family member. Imagine being in that situation and waiting for someone you have faith in to come save you, and those you love. Not only does this person “never” show up, but someone you love died while you sat their like an idiot waiting. I’m obviously not a POW or a Thundercat, but I can sort of sympathize with her.
It’s probably just me, but I sensed a certain affection when Pumyra was talking to Lion-O as she was applying the bandages on his arm. Something that immediately implies “romance”? No, not necessarily, but I sensed a certain affection in her voice.

Now wait a minuet, we haven’t seen Lion-O smolder yet! It probably doesn’t look as goofy in real life, as it does in my head. Let him put those baby blues to work. 
Lol right? those baby blues are going to work Lion O!! She’s going to kick your ass!! I think she’s perfect wife/queen material…
I dunno, I got a little smoulder from his line “I said I’d stand by you, and I intend to.” The combination of determination, selflessness and complete faith he has in her combined with that line. Dammit Lion-O, when did you become awesome?
And and terrible as it is I found Tygra being a racist dick completely hilarious.
And now we can see that Lion-O has some inches on her (although characters will arbitrarily change height sometimes in this show, once again the Twins look closer to adolescents than children), I kind of like him being a little taller than her. Somehow I get the feeling that if any relationship blooms between the two Pumyra will be the more aggressive one.
Nope. I’m talking cheesy HBO special. I want to see some Marvin Gaye, some Bow Chicka Bow Wow in those eyes. And then, I want to see Pumyra whack him over the head for thinking it’ll work. All in the name of humor.
Tygra really needs to get some screen time to work on that. Really. I know Lion-O is going to go all savior and show him the error of his ways, but we’re running out of episodes here.

About the twins, I was going to mention something about that. They looked like 12 year olds in the begining of this episode:eek: I never noticed that until “The Pit”. Lion-O will probably be some huge bulky dude in the future. Panthro, Grune, Cladus and Javan. All massive:eek: What’s wrong with being lean???

I really wanted to hug Pumyra when she teared up telling Lion-O about the other cats and the hardship them faced. If we get to see some of her backstory I think we’ll find out she lost someone herself in the mines.
Since I’m not Lion-O I’m assuming she might even let me.
And you know she’s going to be sticking around while they try and free the slaves, where else is she gonna go?
Post-death match Lion-O could probably get a hug out of her.
Speaking of that, I’ve been thinking if maybe in the second season, it would begin some couple of years after the incidents of the first season’s conclusion. By this time, The Cat’s Lair will have been built, Lion-O would look taller, and have a more mature look that is a little in line with that of his OS version(and probably the same with Pumyra). Tygra and Cheetara are now married. Lynx-O and Bengali are in now. This would clearly establish a new phase in their saga.
Or would it be too early for that?
I think the first season will end with a trade-off, Mumm-Ra will get the second stone, but the Thunderan refugees will be able to establish a colony or base of sorts so the cats can finally have a place to call home. The second season will pick up shortly after the first and will continue the story from there, but there may be more episodic because they can now alternate between questing for the stone and defeating Mumm-Ra and character development in rest times in the Thunderan colony. Not every character will appear in every episode as they’re splitting their time between the two. In one episode all of the main cast will be there, in another it’s just the original seven cats, and in still another it will be Tygra, Cheetara, Pumyra, and Panthro because Lion-O has something he has to take care of at the colony and the kids stayed with him.
We can wish. It still probably will be very simple as the show is made for the kids. The show is simple enough so far, yet it has a great backstory for we older fans.
Still.. I like your setup, far from all of it but the core idea is great.
I’m betting, it’s gonna be the Tower of Omens (w/o those darned traps). I’m not sure of the stone, although I think Mumm-Ra will get the Sword of Plundarr (that’s his signature weapon after all).
Monkeys join with Mumm-Ra while there is an alliance between the Cats and Dogs.
Drifter comes back to work on a Forge in “New Thundera.” (They need someone to craft weapons, only Tygra can get ammo out of thin air.)

Pumyra tries in vain to get Lion-O’s attention while he remains oblivious to that. Tygra gives him a kick in the backside and makes him see.
We get Cheetara’s back story. About her parents (and if she knew them at all).
Cheetara starts training new clerics and Panthro starts recruiting people for an army of cats. Tygra improves his sniping skills. Lion-O improves his swordsmanship (I would LOVE him to dual-wield with Drifter’s blade and pull off some Prince of Persia moves.. but that’s not gonna happen.)
Lion-O and Cheetara repair their friendship.
Panthro and Lion-O build a Feliner by stealing stuff from Mumm-Ra’s pyramid (remember the OS ep?). Panthro talks more about his friendship with Claudus.
And they live happily ever after.
Don’t forget that at some point Pumyra is going to have to meet the Berbils. I think they’re going to transform her into a blushing, giggling pile of girlyness, and she may try to make off with one of the smaller ones.
Lion-O: “Pumyra, wait!”
Pumyra: “NO!”
Lion-O: “You can’t just take him! His mother’s right there.”
Pumyra: “I don’t care, it’s CUTE! I’m his mother now!”
To quote Airplane! “Do you like movies with gladiators?” 
The answer in this case is yes! REALLY loved Pumyra in this. Really loved the re-interpretation of the character. Much more of a personality than in the old show.
But yeah, my initial assumptions were correct, though. She is JUST LIKE our original fic character Xendara. That scene in the cells between her and Lion-O? EVERYTHING she said was at the core of Xendara’s character as well! The whole time I kept looking back and forth from the screen to Ocelli and back again. I was looking to see if she was having the same reaction I was: “Can you believe this? This is unreal!” When the show finally broke for commercial I said to her, “You want to get started on those tinfoil hats now?”
One of the little touches we also liked was that when Pumyra was especially mad at Lion-O, she hissed at him. This was funny because for months Ocelli would ask me, “Do you think Thunderians hiss like normal cats when they’re mad?” I would say, “How would I know?” Then this episode showed that they did. So I was like, “Well, hon, there’s your answer!”
All things considered, we really liked Pumyra. Hope she sticks around for more than a few eps.
Other things I liked were the initial meeting/reunion between Panthro and Dobo. Kind of reminded me of when Han Solo and Lando Calrissian met up in that scene in The Empire Strikes Back. I wanted to add, “You slimy, double-crossing, no good swindler! You’ve got a lot of guts coming here, after what you pulled!” 
And their flashback story was pretty cool as well.
So now we have Mount Plun-Darr! Anyone notice its silhouette vaguely resembled Castle Plun-Darr from the OS? Or am I the only one?
Now on the other hand, the B-story with the kittens and Tookit was somewhat lacking. Sure, Tookit was an interesting character. Visually he reminded me somewhat of Rocket Raccoon. And his voice sounded very familiar, though I couldn’t quite place it. I had the feeling it was by someone who was fairly well-known, and sounded like he was doing a slight Peter Ustinov imitation for him.
But the plot felt like it kind of stopped halfway. What happened? Did they run out script? I hope that’s not the case, and that it’ll be resolved next ep.
Good ep overall, though. Pumyra’s character was definitely a factor in that. She made a great first impression!
I would love to know that Lion-O and Cheetara are back on good terms, but I doubt the show is going to go there. I think all of Lion-O’s issues with the team were worked out in the Trials. You know how you can get into with a close friend, and then you kind of just get over it? Not that your holding it in, but that the both of you don’t think its worth talking through. You’d rather just go back to being friends.
I mean, we all thought Native Son was going to be about the brothers working on their relationship, but that wasn’t really focused on. It was about Tygra, and Lion-O didn’t seem to have any problems with his brother. Since Trials we haven’t had any real opportunity to see where Lion-O and Cheetara stand, but I doubt it gets brought up. I’m also seeing a change in Lion-O. It seems like he no longer needs her to constantly tell him that he can do it. He believes in himself. It seems like he’s ready to take this by the horns. Sure he’s still going to get nervous, but he’s not the same kid trying to fill big shoes. This Lion-O knows what needs to be done, and he’s going to see to it:thumbsup:
Also, Cheetara telling Panthro to stay out of Lion-O’s beef with Dobo. She’s letting him handle himself. She was clearly upset with the fight, but the group knew Lion-O needed to handle this himself. I think they all see the change in him, and will probably start treating him more accordingly.
I agree and while I love the change, it seemed forced to have someone change so much within two episodes. Maybe he’s just confident after coming through the Trials and saving his friends. It probably made him feel better about himself. (Although it irritated me to see him take all the blows this episode, it’s just unreal for someone 17.)
The group definitely respects him more after the trials. And Tygra I think previously felt more responsible for Lion-O and his actions (being elder brother and all), now is starting to trust him.
