Great episode, showed Lion-o as the practical one for once, too bad about all them already being dead.

All the tigers of ONE clan seem to have the same colouration. I think there may just be MORE clans, based one different types of tiger! Bengali could very easily be part of a bengal tiger clan.

Lion-O’s mom was ‘Leona’ in my head too. I think I read it long ago in someone else’s OS fanfiction and it stuck. Perhaps someone ought to ask the ThunderCats Crew about it; it’s possible she had a name written down somewhere for scripting purposes.
I’m assuming Tygra’s mother was one of the many that died due to disease before they made their deal with the devil. I wish his father would’ve pointed out the bracelet…I can’t help but imagine it was Tygra’s mother’s and that’s why it was sent with him in the basket.
I don’t think Tygra is actually the last of his kind or else Bengali would be dead already. The impression I got was that the Tiger clan had a fairly large village built up at one time in those mountains. I would guess that one portion of the village left the rest of the clan when disease set in. Or white tigers are an entire subspecies in the Thundercats universe as opposed to just a color mutation and split off from the other tigers early on. It should be noted that Javan and Caspin (Caspian) are both named after tiger subspecies.
I guess the whip along with the curvy sword are traditional Tiger weapons. I wonder if Claudus and Jaga knew that when they trained him in the whip or if it was purely accidental. I wonder if his invisibility was an accidental discovery too.

It was by far the saddest episode.
The storyline and episode were great.
Lion-O acted great the whole story, I guess I don’t have to worry about him anymore.
The whole episode especially the end was very touching when Tygra says “g’bye” to his father. I still have gooseflesh.
I like how the episode end when Lion-O says to Tygra “You aren’t gonna lose me, brother” and Tygra smiles at him.
I’m also glad that Bengali didn’t appear, not because i don’t like him, but IMO it would have been too much and Bengali deserves an own episode as introduction.
I hope this wasn’t the only flashback of Lion-O’ mom (actually it’s also Tygra’s mom). I’m sure that on the day Claudius wife died something died inside Tygra; for me it was one of the saddest scene I saw for a very long time in an animation.
I know this was a Tygra episode, but even still, i can’t help but think about how rough Lion-O’s childhood must’ve been. His father favored Tygra, he never knew his mother, his own brother gave him a hard time likely because he blamed their mother’s death on him, even his own people probably gave him a hard time. It just seems sad
I thought this was one of the best episodes so far, if not the best. A whole ton of character development for Tygra.
I wonder if Tygra was planning on taking Cheetara with him when he was deciding to stay with the Tigers. That would have made things complicated.
Was Tygra’s father voiced by David Kaye? He sounds way too familiar that it has to be him.
I think Cheetara is one of the reasons he didn’t stay with them.
I don’t think it’s fair or even accurate to say that Claudus favored Tygra. Sure he wanted Lion-O to grow up and take his responsibilities seriously, but by no means did he show favoritism. If anything Claudus was one of the few that stood up for Lion-O when Grune and Tygra were talking about how Tygra would make a good king.
The resentment Tygra has for LionO can be due to multiple things…but this episode made it very clear that his mother played the central role in how his relationship with his younger brother developed…not only did he loose the crown..he lost his mother..who clearly loved him very much. The fact that LionO looks so much like his mother…is a constant reminder for Tygra of his loss…When it appeared that Lion O was interested in Cheetara..it was really the last straw for Tygra to snap…when they fought in Between Brothers…when he mentions that “you took her”..it could have mean’t Cheetara or his Mother…or both…very interesting…Tygra is now more 3 dimensional than his brother lol…his story is almost like the moses story..LOVE IT!!
Can’t wait to see more back stories of the other characters.
It was his father’s bracelet. He’s wearing it in the flashback when they made the deal with the ASOE, but isn’t wearing it in the present.
As I said before Fantastic Episode. As for the Bengali debate I to agree it would have been to much to introduce him in this episode but I think Linx-O Pumayra and Bengali will all appear together in season 2 just as they did in the OS. I figure it will be something like Linx-O survived the cities downfall and on his travels, or during his escape, he found these two and took them under his wing to protect them and is now teaching them how to be Thundercats.

I guess I don’t read ahead as much as everyone else… What pit and where did you get this concrete proof?
The Pit is an upcoming episode. Not the next one, but the one after. Pumyra is mentioned in the episode summaries that were released a little while back.
I would think that not all of the Tiger clan agreed to work in Mumm-Ra’s name. There may have been some objectors who were texiled or, yes, they could have been executed for defying Mumm-Ra. If a plague took out that particular clan, then yes, Tygra would be its last surviving member. But I personally can’t believe he’s the last of his species; there may be other Tigers who escaped the plague and whose existence remains unknown. Perhaps Bengali is one of those.
This sums up my thoughts on the episode nicely.
As for Lion-o’s mom, really nice to see her, despite the cliché dying at childbirth. As for her name, the show seems to like to put in Latin names, Lion-o’s father had a latin name, Monkian is now called Addicus, so I propose: Eliana (from Elianus, meaning “the sun”).
Also nice to see the spirits of evil doing something, hope we get to see more of them in relation to Mumm-ra, and more action and advancement of the plot of good vs evil in the upcoming episodes.
So after this episode now I have a new theory about Pumyra: With Lion-O’s mother dead he would need a nurse to look after him, what if Pumyra was the daughter of that nurse and the two of them were children together until they were separated by their respective educations (Lion-O started taking lessons with Panthro and Gune while Pumyra is apprenticed to an accomplished doctor) and they meet up years later in the Pit?
Given the show’s love of backstory through flashback I’d think this is plausible.
I think you shouldn’t feel bad for Lion-O. His childhood couldn’t have been be as bleak as you think and through both flashbacks and mostly episodes 1 and 2 we know his father loved him and stood up for him when needed. Most important of all: Lion-O does not have a sad personality, he does not dwell in the past, and he turned out pretty well.
