I haven’t heard any other podcast use real themes from shows though. Anyone know? Neil, may be you can ask Jon?
They purposely steered clear of using any official music because of the legality of it all. That’s why they composed their own theme that was created by Josh.
Chris, is there any way at all you can could create something simple for us? It doesn’t have to be really professional made as I know you don’t have access to that kind of equipment. However if you can record something simple on a sound or tape recorder, perhaps we can then clean it up and turn it into an MP3 file?
All my sound clips I made came from cassette tape as it was the only way I could transfer sound from the Exodus episode. Remember I didn’t have the region 2 DVD back then when I made them 
Those didn’t turn out too bad quality wise.
The only other alternative would be begging someone to let us sample one of their songs. Do you think Katy (Rainbow Brite) might if she has anything we can use? lol I’m clutching at straws here!
But if at all possible I think we should try our best to avoid the official music.

I’d love to help, but unfortunately I don’t have any way of making any sort of backing track, as all I can play is guitar and mandolin and don’t have any recording equipment to overdub my playing over a backing track, or indeed create the backing track myself. 
Stupidly I used to own a keyboard, which I couldn’t play properly but was perfect for creating backing tracks - I sold it almost 10 years ago now!
It’s a shame I can’t overdub, and that my banjo playing is so lousy, otherwise I could have recorded a bluegrass version of the ThunderCats theme, LOL!
Re: the revised timings, a midnight rather than 1:00am start would probably suit me better, so it’s a big thumbs-up from me!

I had no idea about that - I’d love to be involved, guys, but I’m really hoarse after getting back from a heavy gig (our lead singer is recovering from bad bronchitis, and so I had to do a lot of covering for him), so think I’ll leave it for tonight. I hope it goes OK - and, pending some unforseen disaster, I shall be there for the first episode recording next week!

For the benefit of those who weren’t there, after Neil told me it would be OK for me to snore in the background if I had to, I decided to hop on to the podcast recording testing session after all, which was great fun!
Guys, even though I loathe the sound of my own voice (despite evidence to the contrary! ;)), would there be any chance of someone posting up the test recording? I’d like to hear it from the perspective of sound balance, background noise, and maybe us trying to troubleshoot any problems that may arise from the test recording. What do you think?
Looking forward to next Sunday! Any ideas what we’re going to do about the music issue?

Surprisingly, these clips are rather large. I didn’t really expect it to be 80MB! I’m uploading the 30+ MB clip right now and will edit this post when it’s done.
As for sound problems…

EDIT: Never mind, I just realized that when I converted the WAV file into MP3, the file went from 80MB to a mere 13MB. I also think that I’m loud and I laugh too much. Let me know if you guys notice anything worth pointing out. By the way, the first link is the funnier session!

I sounded like I was really really far away but if Im not mistaken I sounded a lot better and a lot closer at the end. I’d say for the actual recording that we are gathered say 10-15 minutes prior to test things out.
Hey Manny, could you do me a favor and check if you can find Pamela 3.0 on demonoid? If we can get that software for free, we’d be all set with the recording and editing software. When you’re searching for it, try typing in “Pamela Skype” because if you just type in Pamela, I’m sure you’ll get some weird stuff…LOL

I’m confused! I thought Kyle was sorting the recording software out? The reason I ask is because he dragged me on Skype very late last night to do some tests. I’m sure Kyle will mention this, but we were getting an echo effect that seemed to be be coming from my end.
I wondered if you guys can confirm that there was no echo saturday night when we did the first testing session? Just wondered so we can determine whether it’s my set up or not.
Nope, there was no echo on your part Neil when we recorded. I think for the time being, the recording software that I’m using is sufficient enough until we can find another alternative.
The software I have works great. I tested it with Chris yesterday and got a perfect recording. I can’t understand why when I speak to Neil I get an echo. I can try it again on Sunday and see if it has changed…
