My $0.02 is that I don’t mind what software we use, who records it, or anything of that nature, but I have a single concern for both Kyle’s set-up and MannyF’s - with the former I’m concerned about the echo thing with Neil’s voice, with the latter I’m concerned about his voice being “out-of-sync” with the others on the recording.
Neil made a great point to me last night about only being able to record 15 minutes at a time in that it could give us brief “breaks” between “scenes” as it were, so whilst I think it’d be good to be able to record for longer than 15 minutes, I don’t think that’s a major issue…
At the end of the day, on this one I’m cool to go with the flow - but, I wonder if some further experimentation/investigation needs to be done before Sunday to try and iron out the wrinkles I mentioned above…?
EDIT: I would just add that, whilst I’ve no particular preference for what software we go with, Kyle’s right in that he & I tested out the recording software yesterday and got a perfect recording - we tested it both from the “out-of-sync” issue and also from the “echo” issue, and it was perfect on both counts, he actually e-mailed me the test recording to listen to and it sounds great!
Just to say I’m really looking forward to the first official ThunderCast recording this evening!
Are we all finalised with the plans on how this is going to go? As I understand it, Neil’s going to be the host and we have a script that we’re going to be working from, giving us insight into what topics we’re going to be covering - is that correct? Although I’m embarrassed to say I haven’t looked recently, I believe I’m right in saying that earlier in this thread are Neil’s ideas for this - should these be what we’re referring to?
Anyways, I think we should all feel very positive about this - looking forward to making it happen!
My apologies, MannyC, I should have been clearer in my post - I’ve had a look, and what I’m actually referring to is post #10 on this thread, which Neil posted some while ago. Basically I was just enquiring whether this was still the current “script” that we were to be working from?
The post I made is a rough guide so we know the basic gist of the order of events. With something like this you can’t really script it all otherwise it would be pointless.
I’d recommend folks think about some general information about themselves such as their fave episodes and why they like it as well as perhaps favourite character too etc… It just general introductions for everyone really to briefly get to know each person.
As for the rest of the episode, we will just be covering general opinions on the news we have had over the last year such as the concept art we saw, DVD releases, ToyFare, Cereal Geek etc…
Then the main part of the episode will be discussion of Exodus. I will be guiding us through it with the use of the clips and basically setting up talking points where we can discuss them and get everyones opinions on them.
Don’t worry, the questions/talking points won’t require knowledge of rocket science! lol Just general stuff about Exodus (and if you have seen the episode you shouldn’t have anything to worry about)
Now I would be worried if nobody here had seen Exodus ever! lol
I don’t want anyone to get stressed over this as it’s just fun. If we mess up anywhere it can be edited out easily enough. With it being the first episode I know I’ll probably make mistakes, so I’m sure others will too! lol
Let’s just have fun and see what we come up with, yes? We are not getting paid to do this, nor do we have any deadlines for it either!
I will edit my post later and insert the points in the script when each clip should be played as I think MannyF or Kyle will need to do that! I might also copy and paste the post into a new thread to make it easier for people to have open for reference.
