We saw a test image of Tygra in his classic ‘mind powers’ pose.
Some people miss the invisiblity. Blast it. I miss the awsome flying fireballs and dancing fire rings.
And I keep telling people to give the writers a little time on Tygra’s back story. As far as we know Claudis could have rescued Tygra as a little cub from a cage and he didn’t speak for years until Lion-o was born. And heck… We know nothing at all about Lion-O’s mother the queen.
I’m wondering how they’re going to do the human characters, if at all in this show? I was thinking maybe it’s a planet of the apes type deal where all the animals evolved or were “evolved” by someone and the humans were wiped out or reduced in numbers, living in some small spot on the planet or in space.
One of friends introduced to me an interesting theory to me: Mumm-Ra destroyed almost all human life on Third Earth (Hachiman & Amazons and few others were the only ones left). The animals there eventually evolved and began to speak like humans. Third Earth then is a post-apocalyptic version of our current Earth. Primitive & void of technology that is until the Thundercats & Mutants arrived.
Interesting theory. He’s obviously strong enough to kick some human ass. I can’t wait to get more back story on Mumm-ra myself… That prelude to the past in the latest episode just was not enough for me. Looking forward to moar!!!
Well I predicted that Hachiman would be the one guarding the Book of Omens, which didn’t happen, but I supposed he could still guard one of the Stones of Power. Again, I just like the idea of him being a trial that Lion-O has to get through to obtain a goal and respect is earned after the combat.
As for other theories about the history…well that’s a lot to take in:
Apparently Mumm-Ra has more in common with Darkseid in this incarnation and was an intergalactic overlord. There are ALOT of blanks to fill in here.
I feel the obvious way to go is that the T-Cats got sick of being slaves to Mumm-Ra, overthrew him, and then imprisoned him. They abandoned tach in favor of magic to fully reject their history with Mumm-Ra and as the centuries piled up, tech & Mumm-Ra became the things of fabled stories rather than concrete history.
Now other predictions I’ll make baaed on that:
Well there is talk of them incorporating the Silverhawks into the show. My idea is that SOMEHOW, The T-Cats wind up on the Silverhawks Homeworld and they regard the T-Cats as demons of legend as they had invaded their homeworld once before when led by Mumm-Ra. Mumm-Ra uses this mistrust to his advantage and tries to get the two sides to destroy each other, but they unite to fight a common enemy in the end.
The “Stones of Power” and maybe even the Eye of Thundera itself are the collective power source to an immense Doomsday weapon of Death Star esque proportions that Mumm-Ra planned to use to make his forces invincible. The Stones were taken when Mumm-Ra fell, and were hidden throughout the land. They are heavily guarded by those charged with protecting it. Maybe one of the Stones is the power source to the Berbil village. Maybe one’s power was put under the sea & it mutated the fish into an underwater society (Tigersharks), maybe one is heavily guarded by Hachiman (I still like that idea damn it!) and maybe one is the source of heat for the society on Hook Mountain. Dunno, just spitballin’.
With these recent developments, I’m trying to think of things that could represent a marriage of magic & tech, I think the “Stones of Power” will reflect that in some way.
It has to be addressed how Jaga could know where the Book of Omens is and not tell Claudis or anyone else? My guess is that he, and all the other head clerics before him, felt it shouldn’t be found until the chosen one emerges as he will have the compassion & wisdom to use the Book’s powers properly. The task is to be assigned to him: Enter Lion-O.
There will be at least one episode where Tygra is tempted to join up with Grune & Mumm-Ra citing his similarities to Grune, their relationship, and play up that Tygra’s ancestor was one of Mumm-Ra greatest captains. Ultimately, he rejects the offer, but the issue has to come up.
It has to be explained where & how Panthro got the Thundertank. Did he just steal it from Mumm-Ra’s forces? If so, he still would have had to pick up the know how from somewhere. Berbils perhaps?
I don’t know why, but I’ve got this idea in my head of the Monkian race being at war with The Warrior Maidens. Will they go that route? I don’t know.
Speaking of Silverhawks and Tigersharks, does anyone remember Sectaurs? They’d be perfect to pop up as well. Those insect toys with the handpuppet legs were so cool. How many other 80’s animal-based properties can they shoehorn into the series? lol.
I didn’t forget about them, but I meant the only “regualr cast” humans, and also the only human characters that inhabeited Third Earth (I did forget about Dr Dometome though ;)).
Pkell, I liked your theory as it explains and puts together a lot of stuff. But after last Friday’s episode, I now doubt Tyra will be tempted to the “dark side”… maybe Grune and Tygra will try to reach him, and the conflict will surface on him die to the tigers being pressumed traitors, but after last night’s ep, I think he will resist the whole thing, because at least to me, he showed clearly where his loyality lies.
