Just noticed this: Tygra’s bolowhip in Gold Lion’s signature pic (which is the first promotional one) has three round balls, like the original one, while the whip in Balgus’ signature pic has only two, and they’r not round but rhombus-shaped. A last minute change? I hope they keep it like the OS one.
Maybe they can be changed based on what his needs are. I’d prefer the OS style, but the new one doesn’t bother me.
I had a thought today that I thought would be interesting. Along the lines of an earlier discussion on wondering if the twins will connect at all with Tygra since he was adopted and having that orphan connection…
I think it would be interesting if Wilykat developed a strong connection to Tygra. I could see Wilykat looking to Tygra as his hero. An orphan like him, who was lucky enough to get adopted. Tygra is the champion of the people, something Wilykat could wish to aspire to. Tygra probably doesn’t show any emotion that Wilykat would consider a weakness - like crying. So he would want to be tough like Tygra. I could see Wilykat having a form of hero worship in connection with Tygra. If that did happen, it would be interesting to see how Tygra would respond to it. Since I don’t have a really strong grasp on how Tygra’s overall personality is going to develop, I have a hard time deciding how he might respond to it.
I could see Wilykit developing a similar connection to Cheetara. I could also see Wilykit developing a huge crush on Lion-O.
That’s not a bad theory actually. I don’t know why but Kit having a crush on Lion O sounds adorable.
At her age, her having a crush like that would be adorable. It could be fun too if she sees that Lion-O is interested in Cheetara, if she tries playing some pranks on Cheetara.
That would be both cute and funny!

I was thinking tonight. Everyone sorta assumes that the Lizard men with Grune when he’s bringing the Stone to Thundera were Thunderian prisoners or slaves…
But I was thinking tonight what if they are actually supplied to Grune from Slithe. As if he is working with Slithe and not just working on his own.
I’m wondering also how and when Tygra got his bolowhip this time.
Did he have it all the time, maybe porovided by Claudus? If so, why didn’t Lion-O get a magical weapon himself? Is it because he was destined to be the Lord of the TCs? Maybe Claudus felt sorry for Tygra and decided to give him the whip?
Did Jaga give it to him? Would that mean Jaga cared for Tygra as well somehow? Or did he know hard times were coming and give him the bolowhip to protect the kingdom? If so, he should have trusted Tygra more than just like a simple son of Claudus, but seen something in him past his jealousy.
Well I imagine both he and Lion-O were trained to fight. They’re the royal family. And that’s probably just his preferred weapon. I’ve never thought that the whip was what made him invisible anyway. I’ve always thought of it more like a distraction to divert the eyes away while he disappears on his own.
Could be, but does that mean Lion-O also had a “preferred weapon” before being handed the sword?
Also, as you say, in the old series Tygra was perfectly able to turn invisible without the weapon (see “Exodus”, “Pumm-Ra” and “Trial of Mind Power”). There were some inconsistencies though, because even though in those 3 eps he turned invisible without the whip, in “Fireballs From Plun-darr” he lost his invisibility when he lost his whip, and in “Out of Sight” he used the whip to turn Nayda invisible along with him, so it seems the whip was more than a mere distraction. I think it was explained that the whip somehow “increased” his powers (which he has on his own, because when others tried to use the whip to turn invisible, like Monkian or Wilykat in “Trouble with Thunderkittens”, it didn’t work; that wouldn’t explain how Nayda managed to turn invisible in “Out of Sight” though, it wasn’t as if Tygra projected an illusion over her and, even so, he said the whip “overloaded”).
Either way I don’t think we can rationalize things that happen in the new show based on what was on the old show. Things are obviously different here and the same rules may or may not apply. This time around it might be completely the whip doing the invisibility or maybe he could’ve learned some slight magic from Jaga or something. Who knows?
I’d say the weapon Lion-O would be the most proficient with would obviously be the sword. The sword Tygra throws him could actually be Lion-O’s own sword instead of some random sword that happened to be nearby. He’d know he would inherit the Sword of Omens and I’d think Claudus would have him trained to use a normal sword in preparation. I mean you can see in the footage we’ve already seen that while Claudus was obviously much stronger than Lion-O and had the Sword of Omens, Lion-O was able to block or parry every single strike.
Might be… just a week and a half to find it out 
The Thundercats were made up of nobles in the OS (and seemingly in the NS if the King is also the Lord of the TCs). Lion-O would, of course, be trained from an early age to use a sword with the expectation that he’d one day be wielding the Sword of Omens.
I would guess that Claudus assumed or expected Tygra to be Lion-Os second-in-command, so he had Tygra trained in the use of a weapon other than a sword. Perhaps Tygra was simply drawn to the whip, perhaps it’s the traditional Tiger weapon, or perhaps his biological father had used one.
I like the idea of the whip bneing a traditional tiger weapon, or the only thing Tygra keeps from his fater. That’d be nice.
If Tygra’s father was a TC as well who died in battle, and he used the whip, he could have asked Claudus to raise his son and give him the whip when he grew up, becuase it’s a “Tiger’s weapon”. Yes, I like that.
Spoiler warning:
Given the role of Panthro presented in the premiere, I’m beginning to wonder what his relationship is going to be like with Lion-O. Will he be like Grune and Claudus and favor Tygra and see Lion-O as a disappointment? Will Lion-O really have to prove himself to Panthro? It looks to me like Tygra is going to get a lot better armor than Lion-O. Makes me wonder if Panthro doesn’t favor Tygra and make better armor for him.
It would really put a spin on things for poor Lion-O. Cheetara like Tygra more. Panthro likes Tygra more. Probably even the kittens would like Tygra more. If Lion-O can rise above that kind of pressure, he would be a very wise and powerful king indeed.
I don’t think so. I think Panthro will probably be closer to Lion-O. Panthro will have obviously seen technology already, which would validate Lion-O in his eyes.
Lion-O also seems much more empathetic than Tygra, so I think he’ll be more supportive of them since they’re lower class Thunderians. Cheetara sees the good in Lion-O already too.
Yeah the whole reason people thought badly of Lion-O was that he was fascinated with technology and they thought it was a myth. Panthro would obviously know it’s not a myth and won’t think of Lion-O in the same way.
BTW, did anyone else noticed Lynx-o in the watch tower during the episode. Hope to see him and his crew added to the show too.
Here’s a theory. I think Tygra already knows Cheetara.
First there’s the wink at her in the throne room (how would he even know she was female under all those clothes), and secondly after she’s freed near the end I think (not sure) it was Tygra who said “Cheetara?!” so how did he know her name already?
