Okay, here’s my personal headcanon: Pumyra has a certain level of autonomy but she is still, essentially, a puppet on a string. There are times where she’s very close to waking from his control and we got to see some of those moments (such as her confession of being unworthy of his compassion, helping the baby wing frog, etc) but when Mumm-Ra needs her to she falls directly under his control becoming his cute little pawn.

She’s pretty much Mara Jade from Star Wars, which was the comparison made when she first appeared. It seems it’s more appropriate than ever
I like this and I think this is what will happen. We have not gotten all of the story where Pumyra is concerned. She’s being “saved” so she can have more story. Otherwise, she would have been blasted , or left for the Thundercats to destroy.

That’s consistent with how she was portrayed in the series. I don’t think she was fully under the control of Mumm-Ra at all times. Mumm-Ra wouldn’t care less about picking up a baby animal in the forest and would never tell Lion-O that he was a great king. If he truly controlled Pumyra 24/7, she would’ve spit in Lion-O’s face at the end of BotB.
Gotta say i’m a real fan of her now. I like the twist of the season finale.
It seems kinda far-fetched for her to get her life back though. What i want is to see more evildoing from her and then they save her soul and set it free. IF this series is gonna be more “dark and movielike” as they wanted. Having them kill off (ye “kill” a dead character..) a Thundercat would help with that.
Well, remember, Pumyra needed to gain his trust, so she couldn’t be acting nasty to him all the time. Toying with his heart may have been part of the plan.
But some moments seemed a little too close to be just toying with him.
Indeed, could have been evil all the time. Makes more sense i would say.
Up until the season finale, Pumyra seemingly showed no evil intent.
I recently re-watched all the episodes she was in, and she actually does at some points. Maybe not quite evil, but like Lion-O said, “The signs were there.”

Can you tell us which signs you saw specifically? I honestly would like to know what you think they were, since I’m having a hard time telling which is which.
She was never surprised that Mumm-Ra found them so quickly. In part one of “What Lies Above”, we all know about the flirting/manipulation thing. Also, in the newest episode when Lion-O questions her loyalty, she says “I serve my king and my master”. Lion-O has never been called the master of anything, besides the Sword of Omens, maybe. She also was quick to shoot down Cheetara’s “How did they find us so quickly?” obviously wanting to ignore that. These are just a few, but they definitely show.
I just rewatched the “pit”. It all makes sense now when she was speaking with lion-O while they were in their jail cells. When Pumyra mentions that people died waiting for him to rescue them she was speaking about herself. She was reminiscing about herself, thats why she shed a tear. When she mentioned that she would earn her own freedom I think she meant freedom from Mumm-Ra and not from the pit.
Maybe the writers made her bipolar too because she’s fighting Mumm-Ra’s control. She might redeem herself by saving lion-O from a deadly blast by Mumm-Ra thus releasing the hold he has on her. It won’t be the same as the tigers turning into spirits because it was Tygra that released them from the curse. If she sacrifices herself like Lion-O did in the trials her soul might be saved and she might be given a second chance in life. just my two cents.
I completely agree. I think her bipolar-ness was her true self resisting Mumm-Ra/ASOE.
Lion-O may use the Spirit stone in an attempt to recover her soul and give her a second chance, citing that if he got one she certainly deserves one too.
I think people are thinking she doesn’t deserve a second chance because she betrayed them, but it’s not like it was Pumyra herself actually betraying them. I know for a fact that Mumm-Ra had some sort of control on her, and that her free will was limited (although it seemed to show at some points). The real Pumyra deserves a second chance, maybe just as much as Lion-O did.
I’ve always wanted someone to say that. That was my Plan B for an L/P fic.
