wow i have to say they need a vacation cause the last few eps have been crappy storylines and very bad action, i hope it will be good once it returns
Well yeah, it would have been dishonorable for Lion-O to essentially steal his sword back after losing it in a fair fight that he agreed to. But it did make me think that we haven’t seen him summon the sword in this series, which is kind of Jedi which I like.
The fact that he can lenghten the sword without saying anything is definitely very Jedi. It’s like he’s using the force to lengthen it and so he doesn’t need words.
Darn it, I had a dream last night about Liam Neeson (don’t ask), now all this talk about Star Wars, I’m finding myself in the mood to watch Episode 1. :eek:
Was he the one who was going to win if Lion-O hadn’t shown up? If so, I could see that.
I didn’t even think about Mumm-Ra in this episode.

Like I was saying to Ocelli, I figured the reason why he didn’t try to summon the sword was simply because he might not have learned that trick yet.
Then again, the fact that he can extend the blade without saying anything seems to contradict that…unless he somehow learned to do that from Leo’s memory. 
Extending a blade that you already know can extend would probably be easier to comprehend to him than summoning a sword that he’s never seen summoned. I sure never saw Claudus summon it so Lion-O probably doesn’t even know anything about it yet (assuming that he can even do it in the NS). Or maybe they’re saving that particular ability for when he really needs it. Like during a fight instead of when he’s just standing there after loosing the sword in a fair fight.
Maybe eventually he might be able to use it similar to how Thor uses Mjolnir. Toss it, summon it, toss it somewhere else, summon it back. Might be cool.
I’m sure he’ll find a way to summon it when there’s no other way to reach it. 
This episode reminded me of alot of stuff.
The scene with the swordsmen smacking the stone to see who can make the largest cut reminded me of the opening skeksis scene in the Dark Crystal. I half expected someone yell out “Release the Garthim!” lol
Lion-O going into the city with credits that were no good and entering a contest to win money reminded me of Star Wars episode one.
The drifter’s voice reminded me of Donald Sutherland in those orange juice commercials.
I thought it was a great episode. I was glad to see another episode where we learn more about their planet and the people on it. I know some people are whining about it, not just here, but on other boards as well. ..Im not sure what some people expect. Im assuming were suppose to see the Cats fight Mumm-ra, Grune and Slithe in every episode and force the storyline along every week? They’ve already killed Claudus and Jaga, weve learned history on the Cats, how Grune turned, Cats fight with Mumm-ra and Slithe, power stones and so on… So i was happy to see an episode that strayed from the storyline and brought some background to their planet.
…And think of how many characters we havent even seen yet. We already know (from spoilers) that more characters are on their way. This series has a ways to go; so I just dont know what some who whine are looking for. This episode was better than some from the 1st season of the OS. Too many episodes were Lion-O and Snarf walking around teaching us life lessons with no real storyline; but then some people say this episode sucks while they talk about how great the OS episodes were! lol
I thought the drifter was a great character and I hope we see him down the road again. Were still seeing the development of the ****y, arrogant Lino-O and he learned a little bit more in this episode. I know people wanna see the other Cats too, as do I, but theres time for that. Lino-O is the main character and of course their going to spend more time on him as he learns to grow up and be a leader.
The only thing that I want to see more of, is Lino-O’s battle cry. I think hes only done it twice?

i agree this was awesome! i can’t believe this episode is getting a lot flak. or it’s being criticized because it’s a stand alone episode. this series will hopefully be on for a few years so not ever episode should have to do with the “quest”. on a side note, i know the chances are low but i hope bandai makes a drifter figure.
Did Claudus even know about the sword’s other abilities? I know they all knew about the ‘sight beyond sight’ and it seems like Lion-O was the first to use it in a long time but other than that it seemed like Claudus was only able to cause lightning to come out of the sword.
I really enjoyed this episode. The Drifter was great and the voice acting for that character was perfect. Non talking Snarf is really growing on me and I enjoyed the outcome. I only hope at some point they cross paths with the Drifter again, showing that this time he has less swords, as he has been able to track down some of the original owners.
My only gripe would be the part where the duelist did that 100 strike attack and Lion-o did “the matrix” to dodge them all.
All in all a great episode.
After watching it again I have to say that I do believe this episode is a new classic. Just some really great storytelling.
I have to agree w/ the poster who said that the Drifter reminds him of Usagi Yojimbo. Samurai rabbits kick ass!

That was honestly the Ninja Rabbit I was thinking of… But really my first thought was that he was Briar Rabbit from the old Disney Stories.
Yeah him in Ninja Turtles was just a cameo.
Yes, he had his own title (mostly) separate from TMNT continuity. His cameos were mostly along the same lines as if one or more ThunderCats characters were to make an appearance in a DC Universe title. Also they gave the toy companies one more action figure to sell.
