Yep, pretty much what I was thinking. So we got like another 5 espisodes till the break if we follow normal conventions. At least that’s what I hope anyways.
Lion-O has obviously not learned how to summon the Sword of Omens. “Sword of Omens, come to my hand!” 
Best moment in the episode imo. It made me chuckle.
That was my thought as well. I felt as if we missed an episode where Tygra learned something regarding the Book of Omens.
And since when does Tygra know a thing about technology? Shouldn’t it be Lion-O down there doing that?
That didn’t make sense to me either. But then again, there were plenty of loopholes in the OS as well.
Why are you complainging about other people complaining? Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. If you stated that you didn’t like something, would you want others to gripe at you to stop complainging? Jus’ sayin.’ 
I agree, it didn’t feel like they were trying to cram too much info into the time frame of the episode.

I think the 6 week break is smart. The major networks are about to start their seasons and ThunderCats would likely lose some possible viewership to people wanting to tune in to new shows. At least that’s one reason I can think of the break right now.
This is two weeks in a row where we don’t get much from the other ThunderCats, two weeks in a row where we don’t hear Cheetara or the Kittens voices. My only complaint is my repeated complaint, too much Lion-O, not enough of the other ThunderCats.
But it was a good story. I just think it would have been better to see the other ThunderCats there with him, to see them respond to Lion-O accepting the challenge and then losing the Sword of Omens. Annoying we get to know more about an extra character “The Drifter” than we know about Tygra and Cheetara and the ThunderKittens.
I forsee the Drifter returning Hachiman’s sword to him and Hachiman seeking out this Lord of the ThunderCats who won him his sword and pledging his loyalty and honor to him. - Just a thought.

As for the 6-week break… IMHO the wisdom depends on how many episodes are on the first DVD. If they’ve already shown all of “Book 1”, then I see no problem. Otherwise… I’m not so sure about releasing a DVD with episodes that haven’t aired yet.
He needs to learn to summon the sword ;), unless they took that feature out.
But seriously why such a long wait for next episode?
The DVD has the first 8 episodes. So it makes some sense that the hiatus stops just around the release of the DVD.
And why the wait? CN’s scheduling decisions apparently.
But now that someone mentioned TCats stopping when Rex and Co. return with new episodes. It makes sense, yes, as mentioned, it can help reel in more viewers. Somewhat wise. Still, I’m not about to give CN that much credit.
Very good ep. May not have advanced the overarching plot, but it was a very well-told story.

[li]Finally, we get to see Tygra inventing something. In this case, rigging the book to the Thundertank as a sort of GPS to locate the stones. Granted, it didn’t work right out of the gate. But for those who complained that we didn’t see this Tygra designing and inventing stuff like the old one did, well, there ya go.[/li][li]I liked the overall visual concept of the Drifter. It’s been the mental image I’ve always had whenever I heard the word: someone with no fixed place of residence who literally floats lazily on the breeze. It’s one of those, “How come no one’s done this before?” things. Glad to see someone finally decided to go with it. There was also something very Rankin-Bass like about his design; what with the reed in his mouth and that laid-back demeanor of his that recalled the kinds of characters that Paul Coker Jr. would populate their specials with.[/li][li]The Duelist also had something of an R-B vibe in his design as well. And Miguel Ferrer was great in the role. Hopefully we’ll get some more recognizable voice talent (note to the producers: get Nathan Fillion on this show NOW!)[/li][li]I also got the Hattanzo reference. Hattori Hanzo was actually a real person: a samurai from Japanese history who was a legendary figure. He has been the subject of numerous novels, movies and TV shows, and even a few video games (most notably, the games World Heroes and Samurai Showdown feature characters that are named after him). The character played by Sonny Chiba that bears his namesake in Kill Bill is just one of many such examples of his legacy.[/li][li]I liked how Lion-O repeatedly turned down the Duelist…until he brought up his father. The old Lion-O would have arrogantly accepted without a second thought. Again, it’s one of the reasons why I prefer Will Friedle’s more thoughtful take. It also reveals a very interesting character flaw, in that his weakness seems to be when anyone speaks ill of Claudus. Again, I think that makes him a more realized character and less of a cartoon (even though technically he is one).[/li][li]It’s an old trick, but I saw what Lion-O did there in using reverse-psychology in helping the Drifter rediscover his purpose. Well-played.:)[/li][li]What with the Drifter harping on about the reed, and Lion-O ultimately taking his advice to heart, I’m sorry but I couldn’t help but think of that line from Dune, “I will bend like a reed in the wind!”[/li][/ul]
While it may indeed be a filler episode, it’s one of the best examples of one: building a character in a significant way and telling a solid story. Even if it does center on Lion-O, again, I don’t mind. I’ve said before that I find this Lion-O infinitely more relatable, not to mention tolerable, than the old one. It is his story primarily. Yes, it would be nice to have the other characters get their share of the spotlight, but there’s still plenty of time for that. Overall, very well-done. 
I think you have a very odd definition for the word “inventing.” :eek:
He made me think of a cross between Huck Finn and the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz. An odd combination but like you, I like how he drifted. I liked that Lion-O also got him out of his apathy slump.
I’m suddenly thinking of Marty McFly and Back to the Future. “Nobody calls me chicken!”
I don’t think Lion-O’s quite that smart, I think he was honestly trying to make his own sword. He is just a teenager who can get hot-headed at times.

What’s hilarious is after the Duelist took the Sword of Omens, I sat up and was like “Sword of Omens, come to my hand”..“C’mon Lion-O, seriously learn this phrase!!”
And once again I share about the same feelings on this ep as Lord Slithor:
- Tygra’s technology fail was hilarious. I also found it amusing how Tygra is the one who’s gaga over technology now apparently.
- The Drifter was EPIC even though I knew he was the famous swordsmith he was talking about before he even got 2 seconds into the story. “There once was a swordmaker–” “Yeah, buddy, it was you.”
2a. Drifter fighting off the Duelist with just his reed was EPIC!!!
- Dude, if someone badmouthed my dad (dead or alive) I’d get rather ****ed off too! No one badmouths my family ;). And sons often look up to their fathers.
- I totally agree with you on the filler episode comment. THIS is how a filler episode should be done.

Great episode! I really feel that this is all around one of the best single episodes so far in terms of dialogue and characterization. While it was a Lion-O centric episode I really enjoyed it. I felt that he was almost justified when he challenged the duelist after he taunted him about his dead father. Remember that Lion-O in TOS took awhile to develop into a proper leader and did some arrogant things as well.
I love the drifter character’s whole look, attitude, and persona. This is a great new character and one that I hope will show up again later. He seems like a good mentor for young Lion-O. He has already taught the boy that while power is rigid if you bend with the wind you will never snap!
Overall enjoyed this much more than ‘Legacy’. 7/10

Movie. I don’t recall Paul saying or thinking it when he was fighting Feyd in the book.
One other thing: I like how Lion-O can now take out the Sword of Omens and just simply extend the blade without having to shout, “HO!” every time. We’ve now seen it twice (the first time being in “Legacy”). I’ve always wanted to see it done that way. I was even going to have him do that in our story, but was hesitant because I was afraid people might read that and think I was making it behave too much like a lightsaber. Now that there’s some precedent for it in this show, I feel more comfortable about doing that.
If ya’ll notice, in the last scene when Lion-O came back, the kittens were working on the Tank as well. Or at least Kat was. Kit seemed to be watching her brother work.
Ahaha, Tygra’s such a technology noob! I loved that part. At least he’s trying to learn, right?
I liked the episode more than I thought I would when I first realized it was going to be completely Lion-O centric. The Drifter was such a great character. And Lion-O being all impatient waiting for the new sword was adorable.
LOVE the episode! Very entertaining, very funny. Nice characters, good story, little rushed at the end but that seems to be an ongoin problem with this show.. The Drifter is very cool!

That scene actually came off as very realistic to me. All they needed was Pathro sighing and reaching for the duct tape.
And the fact that Tygra is taking to tech like a fish to water I think is the show’s way of signaling they are planning on making Tygra the brains of group once again. He was the raw intellect and genius of the group in the OS.
Maybe they are hinting on where Lion-o sudden resentment we see surfacing toward Tygra is coming from. Lion-o spent years trying to figure tech out with limited sucess and Tygra is blowing past him in a very short time.

That’s an interesting observation about Tygra. Maybe. One can only hope. Panthro could have given him instructions to see if he could follow them. Panthro must have been closet tech for him to know so much anyway.
I actually liked the Drifter character, mostly because of his voice and his trickster role. I felt that Lion-o just ultimately wins too easily. He’s a real Gary-Stu. He needed to carry a mark from his mistake at the very least.
An episode of this type I also feel would have been better down the line. If the action included everyone, it could be a temptation town. Do a two part episode, take time to clean up the mess everyone made.
Just keep thinking everything is too superficial and shallow in depth of storytelling. Actions have consequences. Lion-o gets off too easy.
