Adored this episode. We get to see the characters and how they are dealing with the changes. Kit and Kat teasing eachother because in reality thats all they have so life hasnt changed much for them. Tygra being the lone one dealing with the greif and having a short temper and fuse. Lion-o seeking comfort if its with Cheetara, Snarf, or little petal people. The animation was great, when they were taken down by the reptiles it was so fluid and just perfect. The music again was moving. The storyline and morals were touching and yes I shed a little tear for Emrick. Panthro coming for the signal was just…I got goosebumps when the call was made. Too perfect. All around my favorite episode so far.
And to those that dont understand the Lion-o suicide mission…don dork hat As a seasoned larper (11 years) there are times when the monster outnumber the heros, and I’ve been on one of those rushes where its me and four others going against a army of 20 baddies. Sometimes it works, just because of suprise and the guts it takes to do something like that. Sometimes it failed. But a real hero never gives up and runs away ^_-
But yes. I agree Tygra’s hot with a gun, but gimme some whip action too please!
While I get where you’re coming from and agree in hoping their behavoir doesn’t last the majority of the season, I also understand why Tygra is acting the way he is now.
Lion-O isn’t just his brother anymore but also his king now. You can’t just start yelling in his face and try to beat the crap out of him. If he tried that Cheetara would promptly put Tygra on his behind. So, while Tygra probably wants nothing more then to punch Lion-O’s face in he knows that he can’t because Lion-O is king.
After saying all that, I’m pretty sure Tygra is going to get fed up with things and try to leave the group at some point. I could even see Grune trying to convince Tygra to join him by playing the “Lion-O has taken everything from you” card.
Actually, I enjoyed the development of the lizards in this episode a great deal.
Komi-The chameleon which seems to be second in command and leads his scouts into the forest
Sparrow- The big lizard that has a good nose.
Cask- That water lizard one that can find anything.
Lieutenant- While not the most noticed, he did question the orders of Slithe to burn down the forest.
Great Episode over-all !!!

~ as for the Sword not warning Lion-o: I’m not convinced it should do that in this series; it could make things too easy and lead to more questions.
BESIDES, DON’T YOU THINK THE SWORD WOULD HAVE WARNED CLAUDUS ABOUT GRUNE’S BETRAYAL AND AN APPROACHING TECH-SAVY LIZARD ARMY?
Don’t forget, he’s supposed to be just a little bit older than Lion-O in the same age-range.
Overall this episode was far much better than the last one. A good storyline with heart and the Lion-O/Cheetara-moment was awesome. And the lizard were really nice. I look forward to some intense battle scenes.
wow, that episode knocked toe socks off last weeks one.
i was worried at the beginning that it would be so sickly sweet that it would give me cavities but it totally went the other way into some very deep themes.
I think this has been the best episode out of all of the 4 so far
Beautiful episode! WilyKat daring WilyKit to kiss the frog and then teasing her for it was very amusing. I liked the Lion-O/Cheetara moment by the campfire, but she was not flirting with him while her placing her hand on top of his; she was offering him comfort and emotional support in an attempt to pull him out of his sadness about his father. It was good that Tygra got more lines to say, though I think the argument about ThunderCats retreating could have been done a little better. Same thing with the Cat Signal, I was expecting it to be flashier since this is a new T-Cat show, but I guess they realized you can’t improve on perfection. The Petalars storyline was exquisite; the idea of them being born, living, and dying in the space of one day reminds me of the Celtic Otherworld, in which a person thinks a day has gone by while hundreds of years have passed in the real world. It’s good to see Slythe portrayed so darkly, as he should be portrayed. The friendship between Lion-O and Emrick was delightful, with Lion-O being so caught up in it that he forgot that Emrick would die at day’s end. And when that moment came, it really tugged at your heartstrings and tenderly uplifted you at the same time (the playback of Emrick’s life foreshadows Lion-O’s future one). That was a good fight sequence there at the end, with Slythe’s forces surrounding Lion-O and his group until Panthro roars onto the scene in one wicked-looking ThunderTank. All in all, a wonderful episode of the new ThunderCats series with, hopefully, more of such high quality looming on the horizon.

I’m guessing Tygra’s around 19 or 20 years of age while Lion-O is 17. 
Took a while for me to get into this episode, it was kind of all over the place at first. Then when I saw the plant/flower looking people I thought “OMG Silky’s Crew!” 
For me it was a so so episode until the moral of the story finally made it’s appearance, you know life is short and living it to the fullest et cetara et cetara. Then it peaked and was awesome when Panthro and the Thundertank arrived. I give this episode a solid 7 for the moral and Panthro.
Just to make the fanboy’s happy.
Have they made the Thundertank to powerful though? It took out 3 or 4 of the lizards Mech’s on it’s own.
It could rob some of the drama later in the series if the 'tank is unstoppable.
Still, maybe they just did it for dramatic effect
or the Lizards just got pwned?

They didn’t see him coming and Pathro took them from behind.
And regarding Tygra not wanting to run.
While, I do agree with Lion-o retreat was the best option due to huge numbers.
Keep in mind Tygra wanted to try to take them on from a strategic postion. When Tygra wanted to go after them they had the high ground and they had the dark and the power of surprise on their side too. All big points in a smaller forces favor. So at least I can understand Tygra wanting to try it and arguing about not retreating. Giving up the high ground one might argue is never a good idea.
Lion-o’s charge at the end I’m still shaking my head at. Not really warm and fuzzy about Lion-O leading his forces straight in to a valley where you can be surrounded and escape routes can be cut off either. Battle tactics 101 hold the high ground.

Part of me wonders if this episode was a build up for Tygra to kind of go off and take a swing at Pathro in the beginning of the next episode with a shout of ‘Traitor!’.
Makes you kind of pity Grune when Tygra gets him in his sights doesn’t it?

Of course I have a very bad feeling Tygra is gonna get his hide kicked badly when he tries it. Too young and too green to take Grune.
Better than last week’s episode (not all fighting), but seriously, some back story and character development would be nice instead of we meet the “creature of the week”.
Too many plot holes to the plant people culture and life cycle to enjoy as it stands. Wild Wild West did it better with the Mayfly episode. Too much Lion-o is the all overall for the episode. Just replace the other characters with stick figures.
The actions in this story are also so contradictory. We don’t fight because we are few; we fight because we are brave. Hey, what about the mission: seek the Book of Omens. Stay alive before all. How about a word about the missing people of Thundera City? Do it for them, whether they are dead or alive.
Both Lion-o and Tygra are flip/flopping so much in character they should be politicians. But overall, Tygra has no depth at all as a character; he is already disappearing. At least Cheetara gets a word in now and then as the voice of reason.
It is hard to keep watching his series. Wish they had taken the time to study Moribito and Guin Saga for storytelling structure. Does anyone know if there is a Bible to this show? It might have been nice to have only a few writers working together to give the stories a cohesive structure. My impression is that each writer is bringing something different to the table, whether it works or not.
I guess my standards are higher. I am still waiting for the promised "adult " stories that the producers ballyhooed so much in their dismissive attitude toward the OS. I am less inclined to think we will ever see a female writer.

They got a mission sure, do they have to follow it? No they don’t we don’t know if they will. What we DO know is that Mumm-Ra wants the book. Lion-O and the others SHOULD go after the book. What’s inside the book? We don’t know that yet.
This about them just running in to die. Sure why not? As of that episode they could have just continued to live their life on the run but how fun is that? More over they have no leads or ANYTHING that can tell them about the book. Now that they have found Panthro maybe something more will really happen.
Nothing is really better or worse regarding characters etc from the original. I watched it before this and as i still love it as nostalgia it has it’s problems aswell as this one. “Same show, same problems”.
NineTiger does make a very valid point about everything being focused on Lion-O, you hardly even hear the other Thundercats so far. I’m sure this is only temporary, we’ll see what happens next episode.
i agree w lynxo in this that this ep was all over the place for bout the first 10 min or so then it started to get a little better. it had a blend of garden of delights and micrits as mentioned and it had that feeling of moral at the end which is lead your life smartly and dont ruin it. i felt that they probably should of used this perhaps a little later in the series where it would of made more sense when they have found the book and or got to rescue jaga and revenge on mummra and grune.
finally the best part of the ep was the liono flirtation with cheetara till snarf interefered and also when we saw panthro and his thundertank, but i also wondered how liono didnt seem to know who he was nor did the others for that matter :eek:
Tygra seems very pesimistic in this episode. I don’t know if he is still dealing with his emotions of loss or what but it is starting to tick me off. Dude Keep your eye on the ball and complete your mission of finding the book of omens first before you try and take on an army! Lion-O was right when he said look at what it got Clawdius. While I am at it I know this is a new series but I think they are removing Tygra from being the infiltrator of the group after all that is the position his initial skills point him towards. With Stealth, Cunning, and acrobatic dexterity he is a natural spy. But now they give him a gun and super buff armor and a very thick Skull. He is turning into a blood thirsty Grunt. The good news is now they have a true military leader which will be a good advisor and second to Lion-O in Panthro. So Tygra will have to respect and obey his elder/natural superior. My real hope is all this sibling rivalry will will be quashed once Lion-O goes through the trials and Proves himself the True Leader of the ThunderCats. till then I can sort of understand Tygras resentment. I mean before the attack Lion-O never really seemed to be interested in the whole leader thing. Like he said himself he always thought his father would be around forever.
As to the “is hope just an illusion” line… I was just having this philosophical debate with someone online. Their argument was that we need god to survive and my point was that no we dont. We need hope to survive and where god does give hope to some it is not the sole source of it. Which I think is sort of the point being made here. The Petalar ancestors knew their people would need something, a symbol, to believe in and give them hope to get them through tough times. However when it was discovered their symbol was nothing more than a false idol the people discovered they had to find a new source of hope which came from themselves. Which is where it always resides.
As for the Suicide Attack at the end. Stupid but necessary to introduce Panthro in this episode. Which quite frankly I felt was too soon and a bit confusing after all Grune and Mumm-ra Apparently had to get Panthro out of the picture some how so they could move forward with their Coup. Which means for him to come riding in like this now means they did a really poor job. Not only did they not remove him from the picture but they left him with access to some pretty sweet tech. Bad Guy stupid move and hero good fortune 1. I really hope to god they take the next episode to really go into detail on how Panthro came to be free and in posession of the tank. And if not the next episode then relatively soon!
Finally I too thought Panthros entrance was a little to unrecognized by the group. They know what he looks like. He was a celebrated hero and legendary General. Even in the dark after he dispatches that lizard man he should not need to say his own name. I thought it should have gone something like this. :
After the dark figure rises from the strange cat-like vehicle.
Lion-O - Who is that?
A lizard man attacks the Dark figure who dispatches him with a pair of Nunchuck in a flashy display and becomes a bit more recognizable in the pale light of the twin moons and the raging fire that now consumes the briar woods.

That actually was a problem I had with the OS, as I got the impression there that it was “all Lion-O, all the time” with the other Thundercats just simply being there. Panthro was the only other standout, but Tygra, Cheetara, Kit and Kat for the bulk of the series didn’t seem to get as much to do, comparatively speaking. Here I get more of a sense of an ensemble. But as Lion-O’s the main hero - and as such the character that the audience is supposed to be primarily identifying with as it’s his journey and we’re meant to learn from the same experiences he is - naturally a bit more attention is going to be focused on him.

See what I said earlier. RizeFall I think also addressed this very well. It’s interesting that all the things I complained about on the OS are the things that you’re getting annoyed with on the new one: seeming lack of character depth, seeming lack of deep storytelling, and seeming lack of internal consistency. I’m pretty sure, BTW that there’s a bible for this show. I know for a fact the OS didn’t have one at all, save for some general character descriptions and a mandate that there be a moral every episode. 
It seems like they put more thought into it this time around IMO.
If this series is for children why did the producers hype that it had a more adult take than the OS. It either is or it is not.
They have Jaga’s info about where to look for the book. To be very Japanese, they do the search for honor, and honor takes precedence over suicide unless honor has been besmirched.
Except for most of the development going into Lion-o, the other characters have little to recommend them. They can easily be replaced because they are shallow. In the OS, for example, it was well clear by the fourth episode that Tygra was the brains, and the adult. Here, we do not know what he is. We should have a deeper inclination, but it’s been all monster mash.
