Hi everyone,

These talkback threads seem to be going very well, many thanks to everyone for all the excellent and insightful discussion you’re all adding! :thumbsup:

Here’s another one for this week’s new episode, “Song of the Petalars” - featuring, amongst other highlights, the much-anticipated debut of Panthro and the Thundertank! :slight_smile:

Please be aware that this thread WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS! :slight_smile: So, if you’d prefer not to read these before you get chance to see the show, you’d probably be best to look away now! :slight_smile:

Just as a note of trivia, thanks to the wonders of Twitter, I’m excited to discover that tonight’s episode is written by none other than legendary comic scribe J.M. DeMatteis - I’m a huge fan of the work he did for Marvel Comics back in the 1980s, particularly on Captain America where his run on the title produced some of my absolute favourite issues. I can’t wait to see his take on the new ThunderCats! :thumbsup:

They weren’t kidding! When the Petalar elder was saying to Emeric that he were given the precious gift of life, I got weepy.

Okay, we all know that “(the) Name’s Panthro” will be the final line of this episode (assuming he shows up), right?

agh. I figured. I love to hate when characters are introduced that way. …cliffhanger:)

Yeah, well…

a) The title pretty much told us the Petalars would be the main story element of this ep, and

b) Both the teaser scenes showed a Panthro-free group interacting with the Petalars; if he were going to join them, it would be just before or just after.

Wow that was a a great episode, and the ending was unbelievable.

I felt this episode went by a little too fast, but I liked it better than the last one.

Is it just me or did the last scene with the Thundertank and Panthro change a little from the preview?

The episode was wonderful. Emerich was very well played out.

But seriously, if episode endings keep being this freaking awesome..god. Panthro answered the call…that alone was epic.

Same, i watch it online at bad quality but i’m going to watc a better quality one tomorow!

Petalars was much better than Ramlak Rising, I loved it. Seeing the cats symbol lighting up the skies again was really cool. The only problem I have with the episode is the charge from the Thundercats at the end. It really seemed like they were just throwing their lives away for no reason.

Also, Panthro! :thumbsup:

It sounded like they cut some dialogue out.

But then again, that seems kind of appropriate, considering…

Panthro

Seeing Emeric age and die in Lion-O’s hands made me cry, especially the montage of Emeric’s life with Lion-O. -It was also beautiful seeing the Petalars drift away into the heavens as they made their way back to their home. So many emotions.

It’s good seeing that Lion-O realized he can’t run away from his fears --AND WHAT AN EPIC ENTRANCE BY PANTHRO!!! OMG, the Thundertank is too awesome in this series! ::applauds::

I am HOOKED. I can’t wait to see next week’s episode now!

If I had any doubts left after the premier, they all evaporated tonight. Wow! At first I thought, Oh no, another Micrits episode…but boy was I wrong. I think my mouth fell open when Lion-O killed the chameleon. Oy! I’m hooked. (Okay, you can all throw pies at me now. I prefer coconut creme). The doubting Thomasina is gone.

Wow…this episode was…deep. And kind of sad.

Last week’s episode borrowed a little too obviously from Moby Dick. This one definitely stands on its own, and I was amazed at how well it turned out.

When I saw the previews, I expected an overly cutesy episode, and then when it started with The Thunderkittens messing around and Snarf going hyper, I assumed those thoughts were confirmed. But as the story developed, I found myself more and more engaged by the more personal story being presented.

Lion-O’s relationship with Emrick really put a lot of things into perspective about living life to the fullest, making the most of the time you have, & maintaining hope. It sounds cheesy the way I’m describing it, but it really did pack an emotional punch, especially at the end. I also thought it was effective to see Lion-O sort of lose a son in a way when it was all said and done, and it was nice to see the T-Cats learn form beings far weaker than they are.

Also, this episode felt like a better follow up to the pilot than last week’s episode. We got a better continuation with Slythe’s forces pursuing the T-Cats mercilessly. I have to say, Slythe was deliciously evil in this episode, and it really reminded me more of the version of the character we saw in “Fireballs of Castle Plun-Darr”. Darker, menacing, cold, & controlling of his men. And I thought the Lizard Commandos were really cool too. I hope they stick around because they make a nice physical threat for the T-Cats, and its nice to see T-Cats take a page out of Clone Wars’ book and try to make what we thought were nameless soldiers and try to make them more unique characters.

And I HAVE to talk about the ending, don’t I? PANTHRO IS BACK!!! THUNDERTANK!!! THUNDERTANK!!! WE GOT THE F’N THUNDERTANK!!! That was probably the biggest nostalgia moment in the new series so far, even more so than the Traditional Thundercats Ho called, which undoubtedly is what called Pantrho to them.

Getting the cons out of the way:

  • Seriously Tygra. Use the whip.
  • The beginning with the Thunderkittens was more weird and alienating than it was cute. Its a shame because I was really liking them up to this point.

But yeah, great episode. I’ll go as far to say it may have surpassed the pilot. It was excellent.

I was also bracing for a Micrits episode, but wound up pleasantly entertained. Panthro and the Tank stole the show after the impactful entrance.
