It was good to see Tygra being more vocal again. It almost makes it seem to me as though he was quiet in the last episode because he might’ve secretly wanted to agree with Lion-O and go after Mumm-Ra. But seriously both Tygra and especially Cheetara need more screen time! The series is called Thundercats not Lion-O.

I kind of wrote Tygra not being very vocal to shock and grief, honestly.

LOL! And not to mention a possible concussion.

Lion-O seems ahead of Tygra on the whole grief curve. I think Tygra just hit the ‘anger’ stage. It kind of makes sense I get the impression that Tygra and Claudis were closer than Lion-o and his father were. Claudis’s death might have hit Tygra a little harder of the two.

And I’m giving Lion-o points for not raising to most of Tygra’s bait. Tygra was overall in a pretty crappy mood this entire episode.

If you look at his position, I think that line makes sense. Arrogant older brother suddenly has to take orders from his punk little brother? I can see someone his age getting frustrated with that.

Yeah, but Tygra has always known he would have to follow Lion-O’s command one day. His comment just sounded like a childish argument that I felt should be beneath him. Both in the last episode and this episode, Tygra’s passive-aggressive tendancies are childish and annoying to me. Rather than get in Lion-O’s face and get it out, he grumbles and mutters under his breath or to others around (can’t quite tell which). It’s passive-aggressive and it’s annoying. I’d rather see the brothers fight it out than allow these bottled up tensions to continue between them. That’s usually what boys do - fight, not bicker like this.

I was not impressed with this episode. Meh.

What I did NOT like…

1. I did not like Tygra’s comment, “but I’m older!” Seriously?!

2. I did not like the Kittens sobbing as they were. It felt odd.

3. I did not like Lion-O’s sudden suicide mission. And I did not like Tygra egging him on that what they were doing was retreating. They weren’t retreating, they were on a mission and were undermatched for a battle with the lizards who destroyed their kingdom and murdered Claudus.

4. Lion-O’s comment, “Teenagers!” He is a teenager.

5. I did not like Tygra’s lack of response time when Lion-O was hit.

What I DID like…

1. I liked Emerich.

2. I liked that Snarf actually talked, if all he could manage to say was, “No” repeatedly.

3. I liked that Snarf interuppted that moment between Lion-O and Cheetara. I like Cheetara with Tygra if anything. That was a funny moment.

4. I liked the Petalars. Granted there are loopholes with their story, but I still like them.

5. I liked Lion-O’s relationship with Emerich and his response to his friend’s death.

6. I liked the ThunderTank.

7. I liked that Panthro finally showed up.

On another note, Slithe needs to say, “yessssss.” It’s just not right for him not to.

I did think the episode passed too quickly. The comment that we would need tissue? Nah, not enough time to grow that attached to the characters. But Emerich’s death was very beautifully done.

Some good ones in there, I also didn’t quite get the suicide mission, either that or they didn’t really make a good enough case that they were never going to find another way out or they didn’t play up enough the severity of the fire on their present location after the Petalars made their escape, though I think the Thunderkittens crying fits since they were shown being quite playful with the Petalars.

That’s why his “teenagers” line was so funny IMO and gave me a good chuckle. Not only that that’s exactly what Claudus would have/did essentially say about him in the premiere, now he’s saying it and he’s not that far removed from having acted exactly like that, he’s just humorously not realizing it.

Totally agree what was with the half-stunned reaction just getting to open his mouth, why was Cheetara the only one who cried out when Lion-O got nailed, Tygra should have called out too and/or moved when Lion-O went down.

Agreed on Slythe, he so needs the “yessssss” Though he did get one “ssss-ending” word in that I heard!

Best episode so far… took me to its magical world, made me cry a tear and end with a “F*** YEAH”!

This series seems to be the best animated thing I’ve seen in my life, hands down.

And it’s not just the ThunderCats fan part of me saying that.

It could be very frustrating for a guy having to take orders from his younger brother, so I could see his reaction. In the last episodes, we’ve seen Tygra taking Lion-o’s commands even when he didn’t agree with them because he thought they were wrong, especially the last episode.

Now, it’s true he knew that moment will come some day, but maybe he just wasn’t prepared for it to happen this soon. I think neither Lion-o was prepared for it. Remember he’s about 19-20 years old, not a mature full grown-up yet. So yes, his response might have been inmature, but it’s not like Lion-o are making things easier for him. Not to mention that, unlike Lion-o, Tygra still hasn’t had time to grieve the loss of his father and the deception of his hero being the murderer, not even express his feelings. He might be very frustrated and angry at Lion-o, thinking “it’s not all aout you, you know? I lost Claudus as well”.

As someone mentioned previously (sorry, can’t remember who it was), Tygra might have been closer to Claudus than Lion-o himself. He was always by his side, while Lion-o wasn’t. That gives me the hint that, wanting it or not, Tygra got to know and understand Claudus more than Lion-o did. Sure Lion-o is sad and upset about his death, but I think in his case, pride plays a big role as well, while maybe Tygra’s grief is more “real” (ok, that is not tha word I’m looking for, but don’t know how to explain it).

Finally, the “But I’m older” comment might not have been to imply he should be the leader. I think what Tygra meant to say is that Lion-O has still a lot to learn and should listen to the more experienced ones because might know more. As we say here, “more knows the Devil for being old, than for being the Devil”.

Anyway, I’ll have to wait till Monday to watch it and male conclussions lol

Compare Tygra’s behavor this week with Lion-o’s last week. Both their behaviors are pretty simular. Note how Tygra wanted to take on the lizards.

They’re both very young men, raised in a warrior household where emotional displays other than anger were considered signs of weakness. Now they are both grieving and not really sure how to deal with it or how to direct it.

Right now Lion-o and Tygra are each other’s easiest targets.

Far as I have seen, the only thing the sword has been shown to do in this series is extend, throw the signal, and give second sight. We’ll have to see if the other powers are there, or if Lion-O has to learn how to tap into them all maybe. I do hope they don’t go overboard with what it can do, like in the OS.

Sometimes commonsense has to give way to good story telling. Besides LionO is NOT a mature adult (how many people in the Tcat fandom are? ) He’s a hotheaded teen, hes had his whole life turned upside down by these guys, his friend just died and hes had enough. Reckless? OH YEA! Belivable? Check the history books, stupid in battle is very common.

I’d have rather they waited till the start of next weeks ep, the sudden dramatic entrance kinda took away from the mood already established.

+1 Good point about the overboard…i do like the fact that he uses it like a real freakin sword, swiping limbs, actual combat and knockin fools out and stuff. So thats cool. I just chalk this up to the fact that Tygra appears to be very much bound to the tradition of his people and while he probably wants to let Lion-O know exactly what he thinks about everything he holds back because he’s always been told not to question your king.

It’s also why Tygra wants to stay and fight the lizards instead of retreating because it’s always been the way of the Thundercats. He sees retreating as dishonoring those that came before.

Eightythree - Hi! Yeah, I was a fan of the OS “back in the day”…before internet, cable TV and all that lol! haha I’m an oldster

So of course the original has its flaws, but it’s a classic and has a great nostalgic draw.
This new show is certainly a total reboot, as there’s lots of changes made and updating done…but I love that they kept enough of the OS to make it seem familiar enough, but added more adult themes and have put some continuity into the story telling so far (but we also still get the adventure/lesson of the day feel of the OS as well). The animation is beautiful in its own right. I really love this new series so far, and have enjoyed all the renewed interest online from fans.
