Was pretty disappointed with this episode. I thought we would get to see Lion-o try to become one with his sword by meditating with the elephants or at least trying something different other than saying “sword of omens, give me sight beyond sight”, maybe we will see more of this in the coming episodes.
Really liked seeing inside the Thundertank and seeing the thundercats fight together with their weapons and also looking forward to seeing more of the mutants/villains, especially as the rock villain was pretty poor.
Quick side question, not sure if this is in any other post, but when are the thundercats gonna get the black cat logo on their red badges??!!
this along with last week have been really to childish and i contemplated changing the channel and not coming back, they seriously need to get some plot and excitement into these episodes or they are going to loose a viewer, as i am extremely disapointed in this series as a whole so far!!:lionomad:

So I finally saw the episode on line.
I thought elephants never forget? At least that’s the old saying.
Last week was the Berbils episode, yet this episode had more of the storyline from the OS Berbils episode than last week which besides meeting the Berbils and seeing physical representations of the OS Giantors and Trollogs, was a completely different story line. The whole idea that if the Elephant people (Berbils in the OS) didn’t feed the wraith(?) (Trollogs in the OS) that the Rock Giant (Giantors in the OS) would come and attack.
Whoever thought the Giantor reminded you of the Rock Biter - are you talking about The Neverending Story because I saw no similarity there.
I liked that Tygra won the race.
Like so many of the episodes, this episode felt rushed and summed up too quickly. It would have been more enjoyable if it didn’t feel so rushed.
I liked that Kit & Kat mentioned their mom but I would like to know more and how they became orphans and what of their dad?
A giant humanoid rock monster that eats rocks? Sounds pretty similar to me.
My main issue with the series right now is that the sense of danger has all but disappeared and we’re settling into an “encounter of the week” formula. When the Thundercats were searching for the Book of Omens Mumm-Ra had the lizard army hunting them down, but all of the sudden the Cats are allowed to move about unchecked.
It would be so much cooler if Mumm-Ra were to organize a group consisting of the old mutants led by Grune that hunted the Thundercats. Then we could alternate between the natural dangers of Third Earth and the mutant attacks that were so prevalent in the old series.
Actually, we didn’t know that. In the OS, we rarely got to see the inside of the ThunderTank, but we did know Panthro was able to communicate with those at the back (he usually told them to get ready, fasten seatbelts, etc), there must have been some way of communication
You nailed it! Those are my feelings/impressions so far: too childish, no adventure/excitement.
Also, I wonder if we will ever see any of those beings again. Those sailors/pirates I think not, same with the Petalars who flew away. The fact that the TCs are nomades make it even less proable.
As long as they don’t settle down, we can’t be sure they o back to the Berbil village ir those elephant people temple. The episodes do sound as “the eno****er of the week”.
Good point. I’m guessing the elephant people already knew this and pointed Lion-O in the direction of the enchanted forest they spoke of, which would enhance the Sword’s powers to where he could see anything just about anywhere.
Good episode, better than the last one. The Elephant people were quite entertaining: I really liked how the episode played out. Also, it was quite smart on part of the writers to not let Lion-O master Sigh Beyond Sight completely within a single episode. Although, I wish the Cats could have gotten the directions to the forest as this leads me to believe that it may take a while for them to find it :(. Thus, more fillers I suppose? I have never liked the Wilys ever, but I actually enjoyed Kit’s character development. I hope we get more of those for the little ones.
And I’m agreeing with this theory of astral plane for the stone’s location. Suits the lore of the Thundercats.
Did anyone else like the music? I loved it, though I was with Kit, like ‘Dude, that rock just shattered.’ I can say I was really expecting a twist at the end, somehow with that magical hut. It’s a set-up, and we did get some screentime for other characters, along with showing how the team interacts with each other outside of battle/questing etc. (yay brothers!) Honestly, the rock monster, just…I have no words.
However, I was kinda impressed to see that the rest of the team followed Lion-O without any hesitation to attack the monster. And it was nice to see them fight, show again how strong they are (really, they’re breaking rock with a wooden pole and a whip-Lion-O broke stone once already-and Tygra can run and shoot at the same time :D).
Although…makes me wonder why they couldn’t break themselves out of the rock box…hmmm…NO! I’m starting to sound like my dad; I won’t go that way! He likes to find fallacies and mention them all throughout the show.
To those who are basically thinking this: Guys, be patient. While I’ll concede that we’ve had three episodes in a row that were stand-alone, I still thought they were all good and contributed something to the overall show.
A lot of good shows broke-up their season-long story arcs with stand-alones: not every episode of the old Battlestar Galactica dealt with them running from the Cylons. Not every episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Supernatural concerned itself with defeating the Big Bad of the season. Not every episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender was about defeating the Fire Nation. And not every episode of The Walking Dead is necessarily all about the zombies. A lot of the stand-alones in those shows, while departures from the main storylines, usually offered something rewarding in terms of character growth and development. And while they may not have advanced the plot significantly, sometimes they did introduce an aspect or an element that would figure more prominently later down the line. At the very least, they were just plain fun.
But I think the show that did the best job of balancing stand-alone stories with those that advanced the main plot - and that the new ThunderCats seems to be taking a page or two out of - was Babylon 5. J. Michael Straczynski (whom most people here probably know better for his work on either He-Man or The Real Ghostbusters) crafted a whole epic story from beginning to end that spanned the course of five whole seasons. Quite an accomplishment! He often described it as, “a novel for television.” And if you ever watch it (and I really recommend you do if you haven’t), it really does feel like it with each episode as a “chapter,” and each season as one “book.” Some of those “chapters,” like those in books, might not have added anything overall to the story, but they were still significant in some way. And I kind of look at what’s going on in ThunderCats now in similar terms; by themselves, these episodes my seem unimportant, but they’re going to pay off in the end.
As to how the ThunderCats could be pursued by Mumm-Ra and his forces one episode, then seemingly “move about unchecked” the next; Third Earth is a pretty big place, I imagine. And Mumm-Ra and the lizards can’t be everywhere at once. And since the ThunderCats are a fairly small group, I’d imagine they wouldn’t have too difficult a time evading them. And besides, Mumm-Ra and Grune have also been making plans building up their army, so it’s not like the Thundercats are their sole priority. And IMHO, if every episode was about the ThunderCats running from Grune or Mumm-Ra, things would get old and repetitive really fast. And that to me would make it like the old show (and every other '80s cartoon show). And I would rather not have that.
You realize that the existence of the forgetful elephant people means that somewhere on Third Earth there’s a race of anthropomorphic goldfish who can remember events before their own lifetimes
Sight Beyond Sight was a beautiful episode with a great message of working in harmony.
I liked Panthro mentioning the samoflange again in this week’s episode. I also enjoyed the focus on WilyKit and Kat, and learning about WilyKit’s somber melody and their past.
The forgetful elephant villagers came off as docile, yet spiritual in their nature to me, but I will admit that the scene with Lion-O introducing himself to Auburn and his people did drag out a little.
The rock monster did remind me of Rock Biter from the Never Ending Story, yet the battle scene wasn’t spectacular.
Overall, it wasn’t a bad episode for the main story-arch.

The episodes really has no structure. What happend to mumm-ra? What is he planning? What about the lizards? I’ve much anime, movies, cartoons and if they wanna introduce races like this they can still blend in more. With every new episode it feels like they JUMP the story forward rather than continuing from where it left off.
I will watch it all, i know the show is “for kids”. But i’m very dissapointed about this as a whole, the first two episodes are good but it just goes downhill if this continues.
It’s hard to explain.. The episodes are good, not the series as a whole IMO.
I agree that the episodes seem to just jump around instead of moving the story foreword. Unfortunately, this entire episode could have never aired without any consequence. Same goes for the last.
Now dont get me wrong. I like to take a side detour every now and then. It gives us time/room to develop some of the lesser used characters. Thats not the case in this series though. Even most of the fillerish episodes have focused on developing Lion-O. Not that I think their doing all that good of a job at it. Its pretty much Lion-O screws up and then learns a lesson after. Why not have one of the twins screw up, or Tygra or Cheetara? Ive watched series in which the title character dint even show up in an episode because the focus was on developing another character. The only episode that I feel was character driven for someone else other then Lion-o was Old Friends. You can kinda give Cheetara Journey to the Tower of Omens, but eh. It depends on who you ask.
This leads to the audience developing little if no attachment to the other characters. What if you dont even like Lion-O? Its a group show and so its suppose to be relatively safe to favor a character other then the title/main character. Not so much in this series.
My point is, this episode screams of missed opportunity. If we dint learn anything new about any of the characters then we should have just gone straight to the stone. Thats my take on it.
I think the problem is that the show isn’t as serialized as it was meant to be . I remember reading somewhere that they had to fight for a serialized show because the executives thought that kids wouldn’t accept a serialized show or something (which is ridiculous imo because avatar tla was pretty serialized and was very popular). The episodes are suffering from the compromise. That being said we’re still relatively at the beginning of the story. There is still like 40 more episodes in the story that they’ve been working on now and we’ve been assured that it’s just a gradual buildup to something bigger later on. They’re still setting things up. Now I’m not always the most patient, but I try to have faith that they know what they’re doing.

btw this wasn’t a throwaway episode at all. 1 Kit learned how to attack with her flute. 2 Lion-O further developed sight beyond sight 3 we learned where Kit learned the song she’s always playing 4 Lion-O learned how to use the grappling claws on his shield 5 Lion-O learned not to be as brash and to consider the consequences of his decisions and 6 We (kinda) learn the location of one of the stones.
More happened in this episode than people are giving it credit for
The story was called “Trapped”, where the Kittens had accidentally locked themselves inside one of the suspension capsules during a rainstorm. And, yes, the silver medusa mask was in the episode called “Mask of Gorgon”.
