I loved the episode even though the fight with rock monster could have lasted longer. But we did get some devolement for Wily Kat and there are some creatures in this episode wich is nice since there seems to more types of humaniods on this planet than animals/beast. I would like to see more bad guys like Jackleman, Monkian, Vultureman, also some more monsters like that spider/shark and that two headed beast Lion-o battled in/around a water fall.

While it might not have advanced the overall struggle with Mumm-Ra much, I still thought it was significant, as we got a lot of great character moments, and Lion-O furthered his hero’s journey more.

Did it advance the story at all? Hardly. But it was a great character moment. I’d say we were able to better relate to them and care about them as characters in this scene than we did over the course of all 5 seasons of the OS! Again, it’s these moments that make me think this is just so much better-realized than the old series ever was.[/li][li]And was it me, or did Kit’s tune kind of remind you of the tune Jean-Luc Picard learned to play in the TNG episode “The Inner Light?”[/li][li]Was glad to see Lion-O getting some formal training with the Sword of Omens. I don’t recall him getting much of that in the OS. Felt to me like he pretty much got the hang of it in a few episodes, whereas here, he really has to learn how to use it. Again, I like that.[/li][li]Watching the Elephants enter the hut for some reason reminded me of a TARDIS…or a clown car![/li][li]“Lion-O is climbing a mountain. I do Agree that their is more to that hut than meets the Eye. I mean how many Elephants walked into it earlier? I know we only saw 5-6 but I think it was ment to be all of them walking in. In any case that means it has to be some kind of magic like a Hut of ever holding, or a Clown bathroom…

I was shocked at the destruction of the Monster since it showed the ability to re-form. Although I think I may have figured it out. The Life force of the Monster seemed to be tied to the tree on it’s head. the First time they did not destroy the tree. (this is where it gets iffy as I could have sworn Panthro hit it with a direct shot with a huge boulder which would have smashed the thing but I guess not.) Any ways once Kit and the Monks pulverized the Monster with the sound waves the tree was either destroyed as well or was killed and the magic was lost. Either way I too tend to agree the monster went down too easy. I think they should have let the monster destroy the village and move on leaving Lion-O with the mission to help them rebuild. A much better lesson if you ask me. but I understand why they could not as they needed the hut to further their main Quest. still their could have been a work around. I think sometimes the best way for a hero to move forward sometimes is to fail. It makes them more resolute and cautious in the future.

I too have noticed the irregularity of the sword Growth and Lion-O’s Commands. I think what this means is in this new series the chant is more of a battle cry and not a spell. The sword simply grows with Lion-O’s will not with what he says. Now it’s other Abilities like Sight Beyond Sight might need their Chant to activate but the Growth apparently does not. This is simply becoming a more regular convention of this series that we all have to get used to. Although I will say I miss the Glowing Eyes effect on the others when he does use the full Chant as a battle cry. It just gave them all a unity and and told us to get ready to watch the Cats kick some tail.

As a chapter in the ongoing tale I really like this episode, although I would like to see what Mumm-Ra, the Lizards and (most of all) Grune are up to… Thats one thing that I notice in the last few episode; no cutting to different places or characters..(or at least not much). No “meanwhile in Mumm-Ra’s Pyramid…” or whatever. Made this last episode feel very short.. But very enjoyable

I have played enough D@D to get used to the Rock creature not reforming at the end because to me it had regeneration but was vulnerable to sonic based attacks instead of acid and fire. So when it was killed because of the sound it could not regenerate anymore or like Draphin said it was the tree.
It comes on again at 7:30 AM EST on Sunday if you wanna watch it on TV.

The race that started the show off was completely unnecessary, but still enjoyable enough. It felt like they were trying to sell Thunder Racers, which was probably the purpose of the spontaneous desire to race.
Kat’s “Uh, she did it!” moment was great. The kittens really shine when they are annoying Panthro.
The Wraiths steal the harvest by actually lifting the huge bowls of food instead of just flying in and eating? :rolleyes:
I don’t understand why Lion-O decided it was necessary to go after the harvest. Obviously this wasn’t the first time their food was stolen and they seem to be still living so it isn’t a big deal apparently.
It was cool to see Lion-O use the claw shield like he did in the 80s cartoon.
The natural enemy of a giant rock monster is a swarm of bugs? 
Overall a decent episode, though. Nothing great, but not horrible either. I’d really like Mumm-Ra to return, he is sorely missed.
I agree, it looked good but barely held my interest. Thats 2 episodes on the trot that have been deadly dull. The series itself is not exactly gripping. I’ll continue to watch out of respect for the old show but they really need to get some excitement into this show
^^Well, ants often carry food back to their colony to feed, I think, so it’s not completely unrealistic. And I like to think that, if the rock giant is vulnerable to sound, the buzzing of the Wraiths make it too weak to start walking around.
I think the 3 elephant’s that went into the hut (where snarf was playing) transported them somewhere by the stone.
I actually think it was a nice bit of character development. Despite all that has happened they are still brothers. They could have written the story where their relationship was torn to shreds by Lion-o inheriting the throne and Tygra not. To me this showed that despite that and their bickering they still are brothers. Thought it added a nice sense of playfulness to the show- and I love how Cheetara left them in the dust. Lol.
for how the Rock Giant was defeated: I think it was definately vulnerable to the sound. It wasn’t just the rocks breaking it was what broke them. If you think back to earlier in the episode the elephants told the Tcats that the wraiths were keeping the giant in check because of their loud sound. so it was established before the end that sound was it’s vulnerability.
Must say this one was one of least fav eps. As it was said in teh other thread, it felt too Disney for me… and I think the whole show is taking that direction. We need more and better villains: Mumm-Ra and the Mutants (all fo them). I really feel this show more “kid-oriented” than the OS, which was produced over more that 20 years ago!
What I liked
- Seeing the inside of the ThunderTank
- Seeing a good Lion-o/Tygra relationship and the race scene (although it resembled me a lot of the pod racers scene in SW “The Phantom Menace”)
- Seeing Lion-o using the ThunderClaw
- Seeing more of Kit, and she actually saved the day
What I didn’t like
- “Whiskers” is back…
- The Disnely musical scene
- Still no Cheetara, Tygra, Wilykat moment of shining (although I hope this episodes starts that path)
- The rock giant: mix of Rockbiter from “NeverEnding Story” and Mossland Monster from the OS.
What I didn’t understand
- Didn’t Lion-o manage to control SBS in “Journey to the Tower of Omens”?
I think the stone was taken by those 2 elephant-men that Snarf saw entering the hatch.
A quite good episode. The beginning was fun but i don’t see the point of it, was fun that no one cared that they got shot my missles that could have killed them, no mention of it, no anger, no question what happend. ROFL. The Elephants were cool, so were the place were they lived. Must fun was to watch Lion-O use the gauntlet “nails” to keep himself onto the mountain.
Regarding SBS. Ofc he has not perfected it, obiously he was lucky the first time (where he had to try several times before it really worked in their favor) and maybe the EYE can’t locate the actual path to the other stone. They are both stones and that might be a catch.
As i said in the preview thread i was wondering why this episode is called “Sight beyond sight” well now we know XD

This is one of my least favorite episodes so far. It was still OK, but after the awesome string of shows we’ve had since “Song of the Pedalars”, this one was kind of a let down. I still think the weakest episode thus far was “Ramlak Rising” but this one is a close second.
“Sight Beyond Sight” was not a rock-'em sock-'em tale, granted, but one with a number of charming and nostalgic moments. I agree with BoloWhip that it was great seeing the inside of the ThunderTank and how much roomier and technologized it was; Lion-O and Panthro talking via the two-way screen was a good idea that the OS should have thought of. I enjoyed the sibling-rivalry scene with Lion-O and Tygra racing each other in the RacerPods, with Cheetara and Panthro joining in on the fun. WilyKat’s little mishap with the Tank’s missiles and trying to blame WilyKit for it was funny, though RizeFall is correct in pointing out that the adult Cats should have reprimanded WilyKat. I don’t know if any of you noticed, but the music score had a decidedly Hindu sound, which complimented the meditating elephant people and their Indian accents. This was another episode where all of the ThunderCats were put to use, which hopefully the writers will do more of. It was good to see Lion-O get some more training about using the Sword of Omens, and the musical interlude with Kit, Kat, and the elephant people was a bright touch. Lion-O’s use of the Claw Shield’s rapelling lines, a clear nod to “The Mountain” episode from the OS, was a happy surprise; I was wondering when they were going to incorporate it into the new series. It was time that Lion-O learned about the consequences of using the Sword in a rash manner without first stopping to take in the bigger picture. But it was great to see WilyKit and the elephant save the day when they destroyed the Rock Giant when the other Cats couldn’t. I hope we get to see the Kittens save the day in future stories.
One mystery, though: How did all those elephant people fit into that stone hut, and where did they go?
That could very likely be true, as three giant elephant people can’t fit inside a hut that can only hold one. But it also means the Spirit Stone actually was in the hut and amazingly Lion-O didn’t bother to search for it, while the Sword had clearly showed the Spirit Stone was inside the wall. So it seems the elephant people weren’t the only ones with a short memory! :rolleyes:
They might do that later on, so don’t give up hope. It’s something I’d like to see, too.
if this stone is called the spirit stone that probably hints at its abilities. Lion-O most likely couldn’t see it without the sword because it was hidden in the spirit plane or astral plane or some other kinda plane of existence.
