Matthew Mercer hinted recently that Lion-O might end up with Pumyra. Someone asked him if Lion-O will have another love interest and he said possibly and that Pumyra is coming soon.
Here’s the vid…there’s three parts to it. I don’t remember exactly where at in the three videos he said that, so you’ll just have to watch it all. Don’t worry he’s entertaining to listen to. lol
I love Mr. Mercer, he is very much one of us and such a nice guy to boot.

Oh I would love love love!!! to see the tygra/cheetara cubs from the comics show up in the series…how they would work that in ..I have no idea. But For two cats who both seem to have lost alot in their lives in the sense of belonging to a clan…having a family of their very own would complete their characters story lines.
I love watching Matthew’s Q & A’s he’s funny and sweet and it doesn’t hurt that he’s pretty easy on the eyes. I want one…a good nerd is so hard to find…

So would I HOWEVER I’m sure after seeing our favorite cats as cubs, especially after the cuteness of Native Son, I would probably die of a cuteness overload if Cheetara and Tygra’s cubs ever made it into NS.
I just wanted to say i was the one who opened it up for Panthro, so dont take that out on others. Why i did that was not the fact i want Panthro to a ve a girl/boy but rather just playing with the thought. He is big and strong, maybe Pumyra will be as she is a gladiator? Saying it’s all wrong and bull**** is kinda dumb (not that you used those words but you know what i mean).
Noone is taking anything out on anyone. I used Panthro as a simple example that had been mentioned, as I’m sure you used him as one. There are a limited number of cats to choose from, you know!
Forcing a romance onto Panthro’s character IS wrong, it will in my opinion seriously detract from what his core character is. And maybe Pumyra will be strong and gladatorial? We don’t know anything really about her yet. Who knows? But the fact is she doesn’t automatically have to be linked with anyone.
The romance for Tygra and Cheetara worked and will continue to do so because it was right for those characters, doesn’t mean the same rule can be applied to them all.
Of course, i just try to join the brainstorming 
i still believe the romance between tygra and cheetara was still unecessary at this early point in the story. the writers have yet to establish most of the thundercats characters to be having them in a relationship. we still don’t know anything about cheetara, and we just got to know tygra’s character more from last episode. IMO having cheetara in a relationship this soon kind stunned her growth as a character because now she is more of a background character now. even her role as the kings adviser/bodyguard have been discarded because of her so called relationship. i still strongly believe that there isn’t room for romance in this series because it complicates the characters involved in a bad way.
at this point, i hope the liono doesn’t get a love interest because i feel he just started growing into his role as lord/king of thundercats and if they have him start depending on someone else, it would ruin his growth.
While I don’t think Panthro should have a love interest in the show, I don’t think having one would detract from his core character. You can be a tough solider and still have a love interest. You can be a guy who doesn’t like to show his softer emotions and still have a love interest. Heck look at Claudus. He wasn’t the most touchy-feely guy either, but he had a wife that he loved. Did that detract from him in any way at all?
She was never NOT in the background. It cant stunt her halt her growth, because she hasn’t really done anything…at all.
I would have loved to get at least one Cheetara episode before the conclusion of the triangle, but I have not lost all hope. Characters can still grow when their in relationships, assuming the writers want to go there. Now if they have all of her growth center around a romance it would suck, but Im still waiting to see what they have in store for Cheetara.
I loved Matt’s thing and ended up watching the rest of it. Glad he actually revealed stuff about the show.

The Tygra/Cheetara affair is helping to forward the story and it doesn’t monopolize the plot neither spoils the important chain of events.
A possible Lion-O/Pumyra affair is a mystery since we don’t know neither we can predict many things for PumyRa’s character that might affect the balance of the team.
In the OS she had a very short role and made the fewest appearances, i think around 32. So i can’t see how a flirt with Lion-O will come up which will dominate the progress of the story.Still, the new set of writers are very talented and thought provoking that they might come up with great storyline giving Pumyra a Protagonistic role on Lion-o’s side.
You never know, Her medic skills might come in handy for remedying Lion-O’s broken heart after he lost cheetara to his brother;)
They could make Pumyra sort of like Julie in Ben 10, she’s the hero’s love interest and can get in on the action when it’s called for, but is ultimately a secondary character. His relationship with her is important, but not central. As much as I love both characters that’s probably the best way to handle things.
That’s exactly how I’m hoping it’s handled. She can be a love interest and still be a guest star. That would also help the romance build more slowly and won’t seem as Pumyra is a conciliation prize.
I don’t get where people are getting the whole “conciliation prize” idea with Pumyra. It’s rather insulting…as if women in this show are prizes. IF Pumyra is a love interest for Lion O..i have faith that the writers will do it in way that makes sense..and that will have the audience rooting for them.
What I love about Thundercats is that they didn’t add a romance simply for the sake of having it in the show..they added Romance for the progression of the characters in the story. The love triangle wasn’t at all about Cheetara..it was about the two brothers finally confronting their rivalry head on. The Romance between Tygra and Cheetara was the catalyst for this confrontation and resolution between brothers…in other words it needed to happen. And it was done beautifully. Not only did the brothers resolve their differences..it allowed the characters to evolve in the show. That’s what romance story lines should do…they should help progress a characters story forward.
Some are saying one romance is enough…I say ..Why? Isn’t that limiting story? Why would you want to put limitations on a story and character story for that matter? What are you afraid is going to happen? The show isn’t going to turn into a cheesey tween ship fest…It’s clear from the love triangle that the writers know how to add love interests with purpose to the show…so Why not add a a love interest for Lion O..or Panthro or whoever else…
And no worries Cheetara fans..I’m sure that the Romance between her and Tygra will reveal more about Cheetara’s character as well.
i disagree about the way the writers handled the love triangle. i personally thought it was way too early for romance , felt rushed and it became a mess which complicated the characters involved in a bad way. i would have liked if the writers didn’t involve liono in the romance and just have tygra and cheetara get together without complications. i still think the end result of the triangle had her character looking a bit shady. i must be the only one who feels cheetara’s role after she got with tygra has been reduced to just being tygra’s girlfriend and her cleric duties are forgotten. we still don’t know that much about cheetara compared to the other cats.
That’s exactly the way I feel. I think the love triangle hurt Cheetara’s character more than anything else with the way it was handled. Lion-O’s as well to a lesser extent.
I just had a thought, as we’ve all seen, the new series is trying very hard to be different, but at the same time, very similar, to the original series.
Examples:

So when you think about it, making Pumyra Lion-O’s love interest would certainly be an interesting move compared to what was done in the OS. It (along with whatever role she’s supposed to have in the NS) would definitely keep her from being a side character again.

Yes, I understand where you’re coming from. I also like the whole “Julie from Ben 10” theory. Considering the whole relationship may detract from Lion-O’s concentration, it could lead to some interesting plot/character development points.
