I just have to get this out of the way. As many of you know, there are certain fans who want Pumyra to be with Bengali. But i have to say, after RfD, that just doesn’t sound very fair to Lion-O.
After learning where Cheetara’s true affections lied, in the most unpleasant way possible, it would be an even bigger blow to him for the new woman in his life to be “stolen” by another male (I apologize if that sounded sexist, that wasn’t what i was going for)
Granted, after the Trials, Lion-O probably wouldn’t respond to things like he did in “New Alliances”. But I imagine that if Pumyra chooses Bengali, Lion-O would like say something like this:
“Cheetara didn’t work out, Pumyra didn’t work out, maybe i was just meant to be alone”
…And that just strikes me as being really hard on the poor guy.
Another thing that would strike me as a “hard to accept” kind of thing, would be if they decided to have Pumyra leave the group just for the sake of returning to the original group.
Whatever happens, Pumyra choosing Bengali(assuming he will appear) or anyone over Lion-O is something I highly doubt will happen. It would be idiotically redondant!
With Tygra and Cheetara there was reason to see that happening, since both were an item in the Wildstorm comics. There’s nothing solid in either the OS or the Wildstorm comics that suggests that Pumyra and Bengali were an item. Let’s ease up there.
I’m pretty sure Lion-O isn’t gotta lose Pumyra to anyone, she likes him he likes her, the only way shes leaving is in a coffin (KNOCK ON WOOD). And if she does leave in some way, shape or form, that is if I’m wrong young hearts do heal, trust me Lion-O’s a lovable guy.

I think the two are both aware of a mutual attraction, though I’m not positive that there dating. Ah, Sango and Miroku. Even though he loved her, he wanted to wait until the mission was over before they got together. He was not only fighting for the sake of the world and himself, but also for the chance to be with Sango. It was so romantic. At least that’s how I remember it. It’s been a while:eek:

I 100% agree. I don’t know where the whole Bengali/Pumyra thing started but it’s ridiculous and will not happen. I don’t think we’ll see Pumyra leave the group either.
I’m all for romance but the romance is being really rushed here. After a few eps Lion-O fights Tygra for Cheetara…Tygra wins and a few more eps later Pumyra shows up and TA DA! Instant girlfriend!..(just add water, no plot needed)

More like 10 episodes before he started to really have a crush on her, not just a few. So far, I think the pacing of this relationship has actually been better than with Tygra and Cheetara. The plot was needed for him to get a girlfriend, too. All saying is the development of their relationship didn’t even turn truly romantic until the latest episode, and it wasn’t like Lion-O just immediately turned around and got another girlfriend (even though I wouldn’t consider Cheetara to ever be his girlfriend) right after he got turned down by Cheetara.
To be fair, we should remember that was mostly because Bengali was kind of a bare skeleton there and that probably grossed her out. :eek:
I agree. I think Pumyra and Bengali was just paired together by fans because they were around the same age.
It’s the same for Cheetara and Tygra as well in the OS to an extent. The only difference is that there was the comics where Tygra and Cheetara actually got together and had kids so fans expecting the two of them to get together in this series was of no surprise.
Before the NS even started, I never even thought of Bengali and Pumyra as a couple. Even after reading the comics and watching almost every episode of the OS, it never really dawned on me. What did really stump me was why Lion-O didn’t have a love interest. I can see why they wouldn’t with the TV show, but the comics hooked up Cheetara and Tygra, and Lion-O didn’t get any at all. That’s why I’m so glad to see him with Pumyra in the NS. I don’t think every main character absolutely needs a love interest, but Lion-O always seemed to me like one who would have one.

Indeed, there are characters who don’t need a love interest, since it’s not really something that is vital to their core/essence. Robert E. Howard’s Solomon Kane and Kull, The Man With No Name, The Lone Ranger(in the first arch of the Dynamite comic series, it was actually Tonto who ended up with the love interest in The Ranger’s widowed sister-in-law), Doc Savage, and I guess He-Man, are some that come to mind.
On the other hand, Lion-O, being a lord/king who showed a great sense of care for, not only The Thundercats, but for the other good inhabitants of Third Earth, as well as a sense of vulnerability, always seemed to me like the kind of heroic character who would have someone intimately close to him, just as John Carter had Dejah Thoris, Prince Namor had Lady Dorma, Aquaman had Queen Mera, Thor had Jane Foster, Black Bolt had Medusa, Ka-Zar had Shanna, and Link had Zelda.
^To go with a more ThunderCats-centric theme, I never, EVER thought Panthro needed one. If they gave him one (not in the NS, he’s got the tank), it would have been weird because he never seemed like a character who would have one.
yeah, I don’t recall a time when he’s shown a soft side. I mean, even Wolverine, who is a total “harda$$”, tends to ocassionally soften a little with female characters. Now, who knows?! In the Green Lantern animated series we saw Kilowog fall for somebody in an episode a couple of weeks ago! So, maybe, just maybe, there could be someone out there for Panthro;)

You might just be. I can’t stand it. Everyone I know who has watched it hated it and vowed to never watch it again. I give it a chance every week but I get so bored and predict the ending every episode at about 5 minutes in.
