I don’t like name smushes for pairings either. I pretty much always prefer to just type it out. Though there are some rare ones that are too funny for me to resist.
Also re: Tygra respecting or not respecting Cheetara’s “faith”
One thing to keep in mind is that Cheetara’s faith, as a cleric, revolves around the Book of Omens, the Sword of Omens, and the attendant belief that their Thundercat ancestors defeated Mumm-Ra and freed all the animals from his dominion before beginning their empire.
Cheetara’s faith has nothing at all to do with believing or not believing in some – to the best of their initial knowledge – random curse in a Thundrillium mine. Especially since the cats had no idea how the Sword of Plundarr (and thus its supposed curse) came to be in Mount Plundarr until Rataro told them.
Cheetara, specifically, didn’t sense Jaga’s magic (and thus its relevance to her beliefs/clerical status) until they were standing in front of the Sword of Plundarr. At which point, she told Tygra “don’t taunt the curse” and… he stopped.
Prior to that moment, Tygra’s skepticism was based in the reasonable belief that perhaps the slave masters were attempting to manipulate the slaves with fear. And even then, he admitted that there might be something going on after the first cave-in. The actual point and fundamental thrust of all of his statements were that he and Cheetara together could handle anything, regardless of whether there was a curse or not, in response to her fretting about it. In other words, he was reassuring her. And it clearly worked:

Another thing I find interesting regarding faith and religion in Tcats, is that in the pilot, pretty much everyone was a skeptic but Lion-O, Jaga, and arguably Claudus (entirely on the strength of the fact that he’d previously sent Panthro and Grune out to search for the Book of Omens). Cheetara, for instance, straight up told Lion-O she didn’t think the tech he was collecting was anything but fakes sold to him by swindlers and basically just patronized him (“I think you’re… different.”) when he went on about his visions of the stories that most people, by his own admission, grew out of.
I actually got the impression that the entire Thunderan society was fairly secular at this point in time, which obviously changed when Mumm-Ra showed up and proved all their mythology true.
