Yeah, though I never saw him carve anything artsy. He did an exceptional job with his big ol’ sword.

Well at least until they stumble on a evil tiger noble that tries to lure Tygra to the darkside and string Lion-o up for being Claudis’s son. And Tygra has to decide where his loyalty lies.
I really hope they don’t forget about that important fact (Claudus being Tygra’s father as well) and show his emotions soon. Even more, Tygra was adopted, so besides love, he feels gratitude towards Claudus, and must feel stupid because of the fact that the one he always looked up to was the one who helped killing his father.

Um… Do you two know something about the series that I don’t? 
I asked on the crew blog about the armor. The answer I got was that Lion-O and Tygra basically did pick it up in Thundera, and that they’ll revisit it later.
LOL! Gosh, No.
There tends to be a rather set pattern to character development with story dynamics like this.
Just like it’s a good shot that Lion-O about mid-point in the series is going face down our favorite BAMF mummy, against good advice, not be ready for it and nearly get killed with the others dragging him bleeding from the field.
I think Tygra’s emotional responses were just a bit more subtle than Lion-O. Not that they were completely ignored. Like if you watch closely at the funeral he’s the one that stares the longest at the pyre and doesn’t look away until he speaks.
P.S. I like some of the subtle details. Like the fact that they actually blink their eyes. lol
I think Lion-O and Tygra just handle their pain differently. Tygra internalizes his emotions while Lion-O expresses his. Perhaps Tygra tries so hard to be the mature one in order to impress his father that he views crying and ranting and screaming as a weakness; I too suspect Claudus is the type to say warriors don’t cry. He probably submits to Lion-O now because he believes it would make his father happy.
As for the seasickness, it was totally just played for laughs. Kid show after all. Someone would’ve been seasick…I think it’s in the cartoon handbook. Tygra drew the short straw from the writers.
Regarding the armor, I could see it being a gift from Claudus or Panthro. He was no doubt being groomed to be Lion-O’s second in command as a future General. He probably just didn’t have time to put it on when the lizards were marching towards Thundera. As for why it looks different, Tygra’s main outfit was different from Lion-O and Claudus’ (who were wearing a matched set) and heavier armor befits a General (unless you’re a badass like Panthro).
I wish Cheetara had spoken more in this episode as well. Both she and Tygra were relegated to nothing more than the occasional voice of reason in this episode.
The kittens were sooo cute. I like how they put one over on the chef. They’ve got a lot of spunk and it’s nowhere close to annoying yet.
As for Lion-O, he’s still got a lot of growing up to do. I didn’t see him as mature in the first two episodes, and he certainly was letting his emotions rule him in this one. However, he’s still got a good head on his shoulders and realizes that his family and friends are still more important than getting his white whale, er, giant thistle thing.
Nope, but sounds reasonable to me. Imagine you look up to an incle, for example, always wagging your tail around him and telling him how great he is, and then one day he kills your father right in front of your eyes. You migh feel stupid fr not seeing it coming and trusting the wrong person. I know it’s unfair, but that happens a lot (not the killing part, but the feeling stupid for trusting an unworthy one).
They might be building to that ‘Garden of Delights’ like episode where it just becomes a little to much Tygra just kind of snaps.
Which is kind of realistic if they’re running with Tygra’s repress the hell out of any feelings way of dealing with things we saw in the OS. Not to say Lion-o’s and Panthro’s repress until you can blow the crap out of stuff was actually any healthier way of dealing with things either.
I wonder if they’ll pull Lion-o’s having awful nightmares in to the new series.
And keep in mind that everyone deals with grief in different ways. To me, it seems like Lion-O’s more in the Anger stage, while Tygra is either in the Denial/Isolation or Depression stages of grief.

And lol yeah I love taking notice of subtle details like that too. Kind of off-topic: what would make it for me is if they showed more expression via their ears. Like if a cat is angry or scared they flatten their ears back..little things like that would be awesome. I haven’t caught it yet but maybe they’ll throw it in later.
I know you will say “here comes the Tygra fan again” lol, but in the old series, he was one of the characters that blinked the most. See “Turmagar the Tuska” when he’s holding Turmagar while he’s explaining what’s he’s doing there; or “Fireballs from Plun-darr” when he is in the cage litening to Slithe explaining how the four-winds work… Tygra blinks repeatedly in those scenes. And there were more I don’t remember now, but it always called my attention in the old show, because I rarely saw the other Tcs blinking, or at least as much as Tygra used to.
The one thing this episode makes me wonder though:
With the Thundercats walking on foot and not really knowing where they’re going, how in the world are they going to beat Mumm-Ra to the Book when Mumm-Ra has faster transportation and a Jaga-compass?
P.S. did anyone else at all get a “Pirates of Dark Water” vibe this episode? Man I miss that show. I’d like a reboot of that almost as much as Thundercats.
Maybe the sword works like a geiger counter or a dowsing rod? And that book is so in Eldarra.
Pretty classic difference in introvert vs extrovert way of handling stuff too. Introverts tend to internalize and sort stuff out alone. They aren’t very comfortible with open emotional displays and they’re not something they like to do in front of others either.
And if Lion-O likes it or not he is all Tygra has left right now. That might be part of the reason Tygra’s simply following him right now. I’m waiting for something to happen that gives Lion-O that same revelation.
PSSH. They’re the good guys! Duh! Of course they’ll make it there. OR I see Mumm-Ra getting to the Book first but there’s a bunch of problems that won’t let him use it 'cause he’s all evil and stuff. Though I do like how they bring in the element of “will the heroes get to the Book of Omens before Mumm-Ra?”…I always did like that suspense where you know it could go either way.
BTW, “Jaga-compass” made me literally LOL.

I mean. I have to admit the storytelling on the old show, especially on season one, wasn’t very good at all… but guys.. this new establishment is really just plain moronic.
I’ll start by saying that if you don’t have a quality intro to dsiplay it’d be best to have it not appear at all. you don’t really expect me to take it seriously if the music sounds cheap, childish and ends up with a lion’s barf (was that intentionally a roar? :-D).
with last week’s pilot I thought, maybe there’s a good story behind that entire apocaliptic scenary, and interesting mythology but this episode really showcased their bluff.
starting with that funeral pyre and wilikit’s fluting right down in the middle of an uncontained fire zone. I mean, your entire army is destroyed, your culture and society in ruins - there must be other survivors among the thunderians, and if the city really is deserted (still having gigantic question marks as to why that is since mumm-ra and the lizards have also had territorial aspirations in mind) then maybe the first thing that comes to mind would be to look out for your fellow countrymen?

In short, I agree that the old show’s story wasn’t very intelligent to say the least but it was einstein genious compared to that lame ass ripoff that stole its title.
