Y’know, I love this premise. I seriously doubt that Tygra is the last of his kind. When the plague hit the Tiger Clan, ages ago, there is a fair chance that there were some tigers that left their clan to either look for help, or to survive.
I’d like to think that Bengali might be a part of a different clan of tigers altogether, seeing since the orphaned trope was used with Tygra, already. Perhaps he is a part of a White Bengal Clan who have a rich blacksmith and forging heritage.
Going with what I said originally, in a previous post in another thread, I’d like to believe that Bengali will make his appearance in “The Birth of the Blades” because Lion-O is looking for a blacksmith to either repair or reforge the Sword of Omens. It could also be an episode about how the Sword of Plun-Darr was forged as well.
I really don’t think the producers think/care of the different species of tigers, just as they don’t think of the different kind of lions or jaguars/panthers. I think Tigers are a clan, period. Remember the names of the Tigers Lion-o and Tygra found? Javan and Caspian? Those definitely are a reference to different species of tigers, but they were living together.
If anything, I think the theory of the Tigers abandoning Bengali because he was born white and they considered it a bad omen is more probable to happen. Or he belnged to antoher clan/family group of Tigers. But if Bengali doesn’t make an appearence ever, I won’t miss him lol
I also don’t think Tygra is the last of his species, maybe of his clan (as in family group/village, not as in species).
Although, if he was the last one indeed, that could be a message realted to how things are in real life: tigers are a species in risk of extinction…
There may also be other separate Tiger clans out there who may have splintered off at various points in their history. Clans who’s pride would not allow them to serve Mumm-Ra either when the Lions and other cats were living in prosperity and they were living in caves. So the broke off, deciding they would serve no one but themselves.
The creators confirmed the blacksmiths who made the sword of Thundera were Pumas. They actually looked inspired by Pumas, unlike the OS Pumyra.
So far we can ascertain that Panthro and Panthera are Panther-clan, both are very tall and have tails. Whether above average height and a tail are traits that are characteristic to panthers remains to be seen.
The Tigers didn’t change from the time of Tygus to Tygra’s time.
Lions have not either, seeing as how Lion-O is the spitting image of Leo.
I would love to see male members of the Cheetah-clan. Cheetara is the only Cheetah we have seen.
I wonder if Pumyra might be a member of another cat-clan in this new continuity, in spite her name.
I think in this continuity Pumyra is, despite her name, more likely to be one of the “common” cats. Sort of like the WilyTwins who are supposedly “Wildcats” but there are a bunch of Wildcat subspecies (who are distinct from Big Cats) and no one can decide if even the domestic cat, with all its many and varied breeds, is considered one. She’s not actually a puma, or even any one single breed of cat. In dog terms she’d be a mutt.
Weren’t there some thunderians rescued in the final episodes of the OS that were basically commoners? I remember the episode but I cant put a name on it. I’m wondering if the next refugees will be like that, or be actual additions to the team. It’d be interesting if they ever put an actual backstory to why they call themselves “Thundercats” rather than just thunderians. I loved this episode with Pummyra, and I REALLY hope we get another villian inside the castle of Plundarr.
I would think there would HAVE to be a new villain considering the generals under Mumm-ra’s command have not been to/or seen inside the any castle right?
I guess it’s possible if Pumyra was adopted, but like as been said they are different species. Maybe Lynx-O could be a father figure for both Pumyra and Cheetara. I don’t think they need to be related to go in that direction.
