It didnt get good until the reptillians attacked. I hated the ‘disney-esque’ wilykit and kat segments. The ‘technology’ thing came outta nowhere and was pretty corny I must say. The idea’s been done to death. So yes, I was kinda dissapointed by most of it but I really enjoyed the dark vibed imposed by the lizards and such.
I thought it was a neat twist to make them Street eurchins and theves. Honestly that would have made so much sense for their OS story line. Always getting into trouble and the such.
I wasn’t disappointed. It was a very, very cool premiere. I loved the moment when the first missile was fired, and I think that Jaga and Mumm-Ra were really well done. Mumm-Ra may not sound the same, but I LOVE the way he’s been animated.
Well after watching it, and thinking it over I really..really love the new series. The characters are more interesting then just having the ‘One’ thing that they are good at (tech, science, speed..) they seem to have more depth even in just this one episode.
Animation was great, smooth, flawless, and so beautiful. The citizens were interesting, the land of Thundera was also beautiful. Culture wise I like the fact that they were protrayed as wealthy, if not spoiled. While the other cultures were ‘suffering’. It was very interesting.
Characters were beautiful. LOVED TYGRA I DONT CARE WHAT ANY OF YOU SAY! The wink to Cheetara in the start with the flirting, almost like a playboy. Sure he is a butt head but you know you cant always have everyone being friendly and super nice. Need more depth then that, more character. So to all you Tygra haters. BOO. Leave my stripes alone XD
The score was amazing, everything about the whole cartoon was great. No complaints.

As for some issues people brought up..
Mumm-ra and the sun? Yea that made me ask what is he a vampire now too? BUT if he is just ‘newborn’ Mumm-ra like it seems he is then its understandable that he would be weak from the sunlight. Yes I remember in the episode that he was weakened by it. I think it was good to show the weakness at the start so when he gets more powerful, it will be amazing.
Lynxos apperance, he looks so great! No more skin tight clothes, nice fitting outfit. Was happy to see him. Now for Bengali and Pumyra!
The Thunderkittnes were adorable. I loved the innocence about them. Not nobles so they dont have to be just throw away thundercats like they felt in the series unless there was a reason for them to run away. Cute cute cute

Interesting to have mum-ra being hurt with sunlight. That will play an interesting role in the series. Do you think they will get the cat logo on their uniforms? It really is a giveaway with the red circle with nothing in them right now, but I’m sure that will change.
“New lands to conquer” Not very Noble ThunderCats… They turned the ThunderCats into the Romans. Interesting but just not right. And again where is Lion-O’s Mother??? That is one back story I will be looking forward to.
I asked Dan Norton on FB about the sunlight thing. It’s not really spoiler-ish So I think (hope) it’s safe for me to post here.
“The reflection idea was weaker than the light approach. For a concentrated evil like Mumm-Ra, it had it’s value to the contrast of dark and light. This will be played on in the future but Mumm-Ra’s power will grow.”
So what I’ve gathered from that is maybe right now Mumm-Ra could be in a weakend state and isn’t at his full strength yet.

The definition of a proper remake. It was awesome by all means, even if it wasn’t based on ThunderCats at all!!
I can’t believe that I liked it so much, I was a bit skeptic so I saw it from a neutral point of view, but now I’m hooked.
The only thing I didn’t quite enjoy is Mumm-Ra’s voice… too smooth in my opinion. Also, the 3D animation was inferior compared to the traditional animation which qualifies for a theater feature.
9.5/10 from me.

It makes sense for such a great evil to not belong in the light. But.. In the mornings i rage at the sun when it is in my room.. Am i evil aswelL?

Same here, a remake which is an whole other series! Same as you aswell was that i was skeptical for the series even though i was certain i would love it.
Watching it again I am finding neuances I missed before like Kit and Kats home was like a Cat tree. LOL. Also the Mecha that attacked sounded like big heavy Burbills.
I didn’t see the series’ debut, but you answered my question as to Lion-O’s mother. If Lion-O wasn’t conceived the old-fashioned way, then the writers are going to have show how his species reproduces. But I’m with you in believing there should be a backstory to Lion-O’s mom, if she was good or bad, and what happened to her as a result. That question should now be answered once and for all, as I don’t want to wait another 25 years for it. 
Not surprised by the lack of opening this week since they made this a real double-length focused premiere (I also like when big story-focused anime series, particularly common on original non-manga-based works, do this so I didn’t mind the extra time given to the story) that was pretty tightly run as it was. Hopefully next time we see it. 
I already thought so as the teasers already showed a glimpse of it but now that I’ve seen the premiere I can totally see what some of the reviewers were saying about how the new Kit and Kat are potential show/scene-stealers with their chemistry, their couple of scenes were great, already love them, right from the pickpocketing moment, can’t wait to see how they make their place among the others.
Lion-O was excellent, I liked how he was fun, immaturely stubborn, and unsure sometimes but still smart, and also how a couple of times he kept quiet and absorbed the moments when he knew he screwed up or was beaten rather than digging himself a deeper hole by overreacting or immaturely talking back. I also liked how his long fascination and therefore somewhat familiarity with technology worked to give him a believable edge when everything went down over the others for our first glimpse of his heroics.
Cheetara was great. Tough, badass, and surprisingly quite friendly, can’t wait till we get to her backstory and learn more about her.
Agreed on the Tygra/Grune thing, I liked Tygra’s totally stunned face when it happened but after that I thought he’d take it a little harder given the hero-worship earlier, like Claudus did, hopefully when he encounters him later we’ll get a little more deeper reactions from Tygra on Grune’s betrayal (maybe him and Panthro together) as I think he’s got some great character growth potential.
Snarf was actually fun to watch (not to mention sorta-inadvertently-tripping the thug lol) and rather than overpowering, successfully amusing with good potential so far. He seems to have gotten some pointers from Momo from Avatar on how to do both at the same time heh.
I too thought Mumm-Ra’s scenes were mostly pretty good, obviously they’ve got to hold back a bit there too, but I loved how he was animated and the potential as he gets to do some more really devious stuff, and the totally evil Panthro fake-out gave him some dangerous “teeth” as a starting point. Actually my only minor nitpick with Mumm-Ra’s brief scenes is that they could have choreographed that moment with a slightly bigger distraction for when Lion-O grabs the sword, it was fine but it was perhaps a little too long with him stopping his roll and doing the call since Mumm-Ra was watching him when he grabbed the sword (though to be fair we know who the kid is and that he can actually use the sword’s power including the beam), a distraction would have made that a bit smoother, but hardly a big deal.
Thanks balgus82 for the confirmation info, and it sounds like they’ll definitely flesh it out later too, on this occasion I loved Mumm-Ra getting pwned mid-transformation (while we’re going “here comes trouble”) as I did not expect it at all and thought we were about to see him strike back. I also like how Mumm-Ra not really facing Lion-O transformed yet makes the show feel bigger as Lion-O doesn’t actually encounter his real form in battle yet or even see it.
As I said during the show, gorgeous animation/backgrounds just like the trailers/teasers, even little movements are really smooth. All of the action was gloriously animated too (ex. the Lion-O vs Claudus mock-duel with it’s incredible animation and Sword of Omens energy effects).
Loved it, can’t wait to learn more about the world too.
I have to say I was thoroughly entertained & am really happy with the premiere. It felt like Movie with cool voices, awesome action, great story & wonderful scoring!! 
I loved it! I just love the central theme of racial relations the most of anything in this series. It adds so much depth to the story. Years from now, our youth of today will say they learned about racial equality from Lion-O. That’s something we all as fans can be proud of.
The animation, music, voices, the Lynx-O cameo (!!!) … it was all so wonderful. I’m still having a geekasm from Larry Kenny shouting “Thundercats, Ho!” And the new flirting between Cheetara and Lion-O … mmmmm! 
My only complaint is that Mumm-Ra had a very unmemorable voice and appearance; the original’s was so much more ugly (with all the boils and rotting flesh), striking (with the snorts, cackles, and drawn-out syllables), and evil. This was just … eh. They should have gotten Larry Kenny to do the voice, after he replicated wonderfully on the DVDs a few years ago.
“I just think there are other ways to rule than by the sword.” Bravo, Lion-O; that’s why you’re such a lovable character. And you, too, Jaga: “What is important is that you never lose faith in yourself.”
I really cannot overstate my love of the rivalry between Lion-O and Tygra. I admit I haven’t read enough of the interviews leading up to this (I rather wanted to be in the dark!) so I’m not sure if this is intentional, but it completely calls upon classical ideas of the lion as the rightful king of beasts and the tiger as a powerful rival who tries to challenge the lion’s right to rule.
This certainly is not the old Tygra but I could not be happier about how he turned out, and what this new Tygra presents for story possibilities.
I agree with your point and hopefully this will be covered in a later episode. There was a lot to cover in this and I love the epic story arc.

One thing that baffles me…
- The night and day switch in emotions between the two brothers. One moment they seem to hate each other, the next they’re best friends. It’s just weird.
But other than that, it was AWESOME!!!
I was so thrilled when Lynx-O made his appearance! I was not expecting that!
I loved the moment when Tygra asked Lion-O when he was going to grow up. I loved Lion-O’s come back that when he did, he hoped he wasn’t like Tygra and I loved Tygra’s anger in response.
I loved Claudus shouting “ThunderCats Ho!” Go original Lion-O!!!
I was not expecting the surprise with Panthro. That totally took me off guard.
I found it interesting that Mumm-Ra can’t tolerate sunlight. That’s new, that was never an issue in the original. It makes sense though.
I was expecting the kids to meet the adults in this one. Ah well.
I was shocked that all the clerics were super fast. Obviously it’s not just because Cheetara is a cheetah. It was weird to see Jaga go that fast. I’m guessing the “weights” Cheetara wears aorund her ankles and wrists are somehow related to her cleric garments. I got the impression they gave her additional power.
I love Lion-O! Easily my new favorite in the show. Tygra’s my fav from the older series, maybe he’ll grow on me more as this show progresses, but right now I’m loving Lion-O. Love how he showed up at the end to rescue his dad and Tygra.
Yea! My evening engaement ended earlier than I thought and the DVR was free when I got home. (Ten bucks says they saw my car pull up and ran to other rooms knowing I’d have a crazed look in my eye if a TV wasn’t available. LOL.)

And yes, I noticed the Berbil arm in the back room dealer’s shop.
just saw it and i all i can say is wow the story and animation are great. my nephews watched it with me and while they didnt seem seem as pumped as me they seemed to enjoy it. with the younger crowd its going to be harder to bring them in because they cant rely on nostalgia but for those of us who loved the old series im sure it will have viewers. these reboots and remakes are getting more complex story wise.which is good. i just feel that these are more complex times and kids need some simplicity. maybe bringing subtle morale lessons and speeches back lol.
