"Omens" (special one-hour series premiere) - Official Talkback Thread! (CONTAINS SPOILERS!) :)

in the OS she was in a skin tight outfit that left absolutely nothing to the imagination. How is the new outfit worse exactly? because you see her bellybutton? o.O

Yeah, the OS was like a swim-suit…typical. The new one shows more skin ???

Not the skin, she has full-on cleavage. And being a Cleric, shouldn’t she be wearing armor that protected her a bit better while still allowing her to move?

while she was in uniform she DID wear clothes that covered her more. and look at the production sheets. the actual top zips up. my guess is she zips it down for personal preference.

how many teenage girls do you know that want to wear turtlenecks every day?

I believe Cheetara and the rest of the TCats were naked in the begining of the OS premiere so in this premiere she is wearing a lot more clothes!

He shoots! He scores! lol

Willeya, Cheetara wore a leotard, which I will admit looks like a competitive, one-piece swimsuit. I do recall Cheetara wearing tights under that leotard, giving her the look of the stereotyped 1980’s aerobics instructor at the Y. 0_0

Bloom, I do agree. If Cheetara is one of Jaga’s clerics, then she should have at least SOME kind of armoured uniform.

Anyhow, like most of us, I had the pleasure of watching both episodes, by way of digital download, since I missed the original air date as I was with a friend, the whole weekend. Needless to say, I was impressed with the writing, musical score, animation and overall enticing story.

Seeing Lynx-O was a nice surprise and I will admit, I want to see more surprises like this. I will also dmit, Mumm-Ra, guised as Panthro, stabbing Claudus in the back had me screaming “Oh, my God! Oh, my God! Oh, my GOD!” as I never thought I’d see something like this in the ThunderCats, but needless to say, this was quite awesomely done and I look forward to seeing next week’s episode and much more of it.

So im confused. Was the premiere a hour long episode to two eps shown together? Cause originally my cable box listed it as “the sword of omens” and “ancient spirits of evil”. So was it two 30 mins eps together or was that a mistake?

again, I have to say, she DID. during the battle she had her full uniform on. her civilian clothes should be whatever the heck she wants them to be.

Merged Post:
btw I remember someone wondering who did the voice for Lynx-O.

someone pointed this out in another forum and I have to agree. It’s none other than “Panthro” himself Kevin Michael Richardson.

Here’s a vid of his Joker from the Batman for comparison.

probably been mentioned before but I think my favourite moment was when Claudus said “Let us begin this sacred right of passage” right before giving Lion-O the Sword of Omens for the first time.

To me not only was it about Claudus passing the responsibility of the Sword and Crown to his son but also Larry Kenney passing the responsibility of Lion-O down to Will Friedle

me too!

I fully agree! I felt the same way about it when I was watching it. I grew up with the Thundercats, as i’m sure most all of us did, but my hubby did not, and it’s only been the past month that i’ve been catching him up on the old school version via Boomarang. When he watched the premier with me, he loved it just as much as i did and he said the very same thing. It was like Lion-O giving the ok to Lion-O to be Lion-O. >_< :liono That’s a lot of lion!

The entire episode was just too amazing. Every little touch, every detail, the haunting sounds of the original score sneaking in here and there. The visuals both light and dark, all of it came together so smoothly. I think Larry Kenney being in this really does help bring OS fans into the new idea of Thundercats. No spaceships, or tech, was a nice touch. I remember from the original that the “mutants” were far more advanced then the Thundercats. But as thundercats are from Thundera, will the lizard men of this version be from Plundera, like they were in the original show? I’m excited to see other species as well.

It was the most wonderful, most nostalgic feeling to be rooted to my couch unblinking at the tv, as if i was 7 once more. I teared up when they said Panthro was dead, he was one of my favorites from the original. Shivers ran down my spine when Lion-O saved his father and Tygra from the mechs with the bombs he had been gathering. Relief filled me when I saw Panthro tied up hostage, thinking, thank goodness he’s not dead. Shock and horror when he stabbed Claudus and turned out to be Mumm-Ra.. There wasn’t a moment I didn’t enjoy.

I had my reservations about this new show, i was both excited and scared. I grew up glued to the TV watching Thundercats. I fought for it, because my mom hated Snarf, and didn’t want me to watch him saying he was a bad influence. So when it was announced there would be a new show I was a bundle of mixed feelings. When I began to show my hubby the original serious that he somehow missed out on, I was thrilled to find my love was never miss placed in this show. That and i still wanted to kill Snarf.

Often times I would point out to my hubby how similar the animation is between Thundercats, and the Hobbit, or the Last Unicorn. The movement, or simply how Golum Slive looks. But the for me, Lion-O often reminded me of Conan. Not in personality, but in how he handles battle. I can’t quite see the new Lion-O battling as fiercely as Conan. Even though, I’m sure i’ll enjoy it no matter how the battles throw down.

All in all a beautiful reinvention of a timeless classic. I wait with baited breath for every Friday now. I hope that the code of Thundera will be revived with Lion-O’s journey. Truth, Loyalty, Honer, and Justice. The same morals that helped shape my young mind into the honest woman I am today. It’s time they are passed on to the next generation.

For those that would like it (and if the Mods want to move this somewhere more appropriate that would be fine but this is the best place I could think of for this) here is a full screen cap of the (what I call it) Omens Tablet from the opening of the show. Obviously it was never shown full screen so I did have to use my imagination to fill in he holes and it was a rather quick and dirty attempt. In any case Enjoy!!!

Ok it was supposed to be bigger than that so if anyone has any tips for me so I can post it bigger let me know…

EDIT: I removed the attachment from this post and posted the pic through goggle Docs in a post on the next page.

That looks super-sweet! Nice work!

A larger/HD version would make a killer desktop background.

Y’know, I’m re watching these first two eps right now, and one thing I realize I really like better about this show is you can actually tell Jaga’s a cat. What with those big cat ears on the sides of his head and grey fur. In the original I honestly always felt he looked too human.

Ditto. He kind of reminds me of a cat-like Gandalf in this series.

I think that’s what they were going for. Durring the first airing, when Jaga held the bridge, I had to yell the obligatory “YOU! SHALL NOT! PASS!!!”.

Loved it! and im happy to see it got great ratings as well

I didn’t yell it, there were other people in the room but I soooo thought that. Half expected him to say it.

EDIT: Hmm, by the way, does anyone else just feel that when Cheetara attacked Grune and he made that face before he fell that she actually kicked him in the crotch at superspeed. That’s the only reason I can think of that he’d make that face. Well, you don’t see what she does so that’s just gonna be what I like to think.

How big was the original image before you uploaded it?

Jaga’s entrance on the battlefield also reminded me of Gandalf around the end of the Two Towers, coming to save Helm’s Deep.

Speaking of LOTR, evacuating the women and children at Thundera reminded me of a similar evacuation to the Glittering Caves in Two Towers.

And the lizard catapults reminded me of the orc catapults in Return of the King. :stuck_out_tongue:
