Seriously people, you shouldn’t feel that offended. It’s the internet after all. However, some of the nit-pickings aren’t that great. Who really cares if the kittens are now even younger and have different plot? Why does have the team to be complete within the first two episodes? Who really cares for it? I would rather see a good plot with a well done build-up instead of a commercial show for action figures and merchandise. I don’t want to be treated like in the 80ies and 90ies anymore. These times were great as a child but nowadays I want to see real stories, like in The Avatar.
Why aren’t they allow to have some kind of new or different development? Anyway, who really thought that Panthro wouldn’t show up even when you can buy now his action figure nowadays? It’s the small things which really disturbs me were I’m really thinking ‘yeah, they can’t think for themself’. Rather than accepting a new direction people tend to judge it within the very first episodes. I like the japanese “storytelling to animate” approach. It’s something different and with the right script it could be magnificent. Fullmetal Alchemist (1st series) would be a prime example how emotional such shows can be. Of course the Avatar too, even if it’s a korean/american production. But I think you’ll get the point what I try to say. And the ThunderCats-Reboot has one of the best potentials to become one of the biggest series after all.
Yeah, I think I overreacted a bit. I apologize for that. And I think I stated my feelings to the hardcore fanboy ‘idiots’, how you like to call them. I just don’t understand not why they judge the show so harshly.
Just watched the first two episodes of the reboot, and I have to say it’s a lot better than I epxected. The animation style is different, there are a lot of setting differences, and I thought that it was odd the Thundercats have forgotten technology entirely, but other than that it’s a great reboot of the classic series.
I remember watching the originals when I was a little kid in the eighties, and I have to say that this is probably a little more story-oriented (the old 'toons pretty much existed just to sell the toys, like He-Man and Transformers) and with a higher animation budget. All in all, a pleasant surprise.
If the quality continues to be as high as the pilot, I have no doubt I’ll keep watching it, whether it’s a cartoon for kids or not. I had a huge grin on my face all the way through the first two episodes and now my expectations are firmly set for the remainder of the new series.
I think that’s what we will see. Thunderians who got their eyes opened somehow and decided to leave Thundera or maybe even some Thunderians banished from Thundera for some reason. Lion’o surely won’t be the onylone believing in technology.
A little Diana Gabaldon to temper the George RR Martin, neh

That may very well be the case, but without the fan fiction writers, there would never have been a resurrection of the show. The fans kept it alive all these years in the hearts and minds of people.
And any self respecting fan fiction writer would have Mumm-Ra tear out Claudus’ heart rather than just stick him with a knife. Just saying.

Agreed. But so far the storyline seems narrow, not heroic or mythic.

Hey, he’s handled his sword for a long time. Only took one blast to set it off. That actually makes sense.
As you say it’s too soon to say the old show was better than this one from just two episodes, just like it’s too soon to say this new ones better. Also remember, to some the characters are like old friends, having them change so radically can feel really wrong. You don’t have to agree with them but at least understand it.
The Sword apparently has some psychic link (lack of better word) to the legitimate holder. It’s completely reasonable that it would sense intent. Claudus didn’t want to hurt Lion-O, it was just part of his training. It looked like it was derived from a sword-fighting exercise to me.
Hey guys, newbie here. I’ve just recently watched the new show.
I was kinda torn when I heard about this new one between "aw cool!!! new Thundercats!!! yaaaaaay!" and “here they go again taking a classic and re-writing it, sigh” but I checked this out and yeah, pleasantly surprised, I quite liked it. Visually it looks fantastic. The character (re)designs, the animation, the pretty colours, all that stuff looks really, really good, so thumbs up for that, but more importantly story wise I think it was a good startup and had enough to keep me interested to want to continue watching next week. It’s changed a whole lot of things and seems very different from the original, but sort of in a good way I thought, and not in a way you think it’s just crapped all over the original.
So yeah, I’m quite excited to see where they go with this

-I like Tygra’s yawn when they were waiting for Lion-O. The yawn was totally intentional and meant to exasperate the situation.
-Didn’t see it mentioned that much around here, but did everyone catch the new orchestrated version of the OS Sight-beyond-sight music?
-I’m pretty sure that’s our Jupiter seen right before the “nothing like you” scene.
-Like the Lizards guided missiles. Very neat!
-Slythe also needs props for being more of a threat in this version. He kills in this series!
-I caught Jaga’s blood being splattered as well. Yeesh!
Um…that “old guy” Lynx-O you refer to is from the 80’s.
Please everyone, don’t forget and put this into perspective. The original show IS a product of the 1980’s. It may be hard, but think back (if you were around) and remember that technology and style changes over the years.
um… yeah I know that. I did say an 80s exercise video didn’t I? remembering he’s from the 80s doesn’t change the fact that he still looked like he was “sweating to the oldies.”
I find your misunderstanding of what Balgus was saying to be funny.
Balgus, I really like Lynx-O’s new look too. They did a great job with him! I really hope we see more of him. That would be utterly disappointing if the only time we get to see him is in the premiere like that.

The way he sat on the throne - that was actually creeped me out. Don’t think Mumm-Ra ever creeped me out that much before.
I do wish they’d kept those cobwebs or whatever they were in his mouth though.
I think their clothes were supposed to be futuristic at the time. Unfortunately, they did for the most part look like aerobics outfits like my friend’s mom wore to her Jazzercise classes.
I like Tygra’s new outfit a lot. It’s a shame that he trades up for GI Joe lite. As for Cheetara, I am a bit disappointed that they have her in a pretty skimpy top for a children’s show.
I agree on Tygra. And I’m sad that we don’t get a figure with his first outfit.
On Cheetara, I desagree somewhat. I’m tired of how strict americans are with censorship. God, this type of thing is not going to traumatize or ruin children’s minds. If we where more open minded our society would be a lot better.
