Love Triangles

I agree as well that it’s up to Cheetara to decide.

I hope I formated this decently. Im not good with block quotes . I think a lot of it is personal preference. I get upset by certain things, doesn’t mean others will take it to the head like I am.

If Lion-o hasn’t been shown how he can be good for her, then what has Tygra shown? All we see him do is flirt with her and catch her from falling and breaking something. Tygra won’t listen to her about believing in Lion-o and constantly tries to out-do him. Neither of them are mature enough yet, but Lion-o at least is trying to become a better King/person while all we see of Tygra is him whining about not getting the sword/cheetara or being king. They both need to mature and grow up, but Lion-o seems to be doing it faster. Though i partially blame Tygra’s problem on Claudus for spoiling him, and Lion-o’s on what everyone thought of him and how he was treated compared to Tygra. But the rest is their own fault.

I don’t think either brother is objectifying Cheetara. Tygra’s line about Cheetara being another thing Lion-O doesn’t deserve is just semantics, and Lion-O saying “She’ll choose me” isn’t him thinking of her as an object, just a little full of himself.

Saving someone from being crushed by a giant bird is very admirable and shouldn’t be shirked.

Tygra spent his whole life knowing that no matter how good he got at anything, Lion-O would always have the kingdom handed to him as a birthright. This created feelings of resentment in Tygra, and I think he expresses them by trying to outdo Lion-O. Lion-O most likley doesn’t understand the reasons for Tygra fighting him, nor does Tygra really understand what sort of position Lion-O is in now. They are brothers who love each other, but do not understand each other.

When was it stated or shown that Claudus spoiled Tygra? I haven’t rewatched the past eps so I can’t remember, but was that in there?

@Romanticide. That wasnt meant to be a point for Tygra, it was a point against Lion-O:cool:. Though I do think Astral Plane implies that Tygra would be good for her, if he could get over his ‘vow of silence’.

I dont know why anyone would think Claudus spoiled Tygra. Sure he seemingly had more faith in him, but that is easy to see why. Lion-O was a dreamer, Tygra spent all of his time learning military strategies with their father. Who seems more reliable in a military situation? Not that I think their father treated Lion-O worse. He still got the sword and the throne. His father’s dying words were about how he was proud of Lion-O.
Um Lion-O has his own hang ups too. Like his inability to listen to anyone who doesn’t agree with him (Ramlak Rising, Old Freinds, Astral Plane, Sight Beyond Sight)

You just delivered the quote of the day my friend.

That I agree with. I’m sick of everyone blindly following him. That’s what ****ed me of about him not even bothering to acknowledge that Tygra’s actions last episode actually ending up saving their asses.

You want to get reported for bad language? Teme is a derogatory term along the lines of *******.

Wait..are you saying your actually a yaoi fangirl who bothers to explore WHY and/or HOW they characters could fall for someone of the same gender while canon has given no indication on the matter?

Well I’ll be..

Still, yaoi fangirls do tend to ruin alot in fandoms. Kingdom Hearts comes to mind.

Ironically though, some yaoi fangirls in one of my fandoms recently turned out to be the sane ones, while the het fangirls are the stupid ones.

Wait. Just..wait. I think you have my idea of yaoi fangirl wrong. This is also based on reading what you posted after this.

Yaoi fangirl, someone who obsesses with yaoi because they have this weird fetish with always seeing men on men despite this men showing no interest in the same gender. And they wish to see this without any logical explanation on either of the participants parts.

Apologies if I come of as offensive in any of this. Actually wrote this with a neutral mind.

I believe the other characters should start questioning him, about whatever, but question him. They all just seem like mindless followers sometimes. It’d give them more individuality AND make them feel more believeable.

I to an extent agree with this. Lion-O does seem oblivious about Tygra’s feelings to a certain point.

We never did see Claudus spoil Tygra. The only thing that would even get close to it would be him saying “Why can’t he be more like you, Tygra?”. And that’s not spoiling him, imo, not if Tygra had deserved that kind of praise. Grune was the one who said Tygra would have made a great king, and Claudus actually stood up for Lion-O there, saying that he will also make a great king. And then when it looked like Lion-O brought an army of lizards upon the city, he said “no wonder everyone thinks your brother should be king”, which wasn’t spoiling Tygra either.

I know it’s admirable, and shouldn’t be shirked (didn’t know that was a word) but saving someone shouldn’t be an automatic indicator that they somehow belong together (saw this on tumblr.)

How did he know that? He was favored by everyone, i mean, i doubt Lion-o wanted to be King. It would create resentment for Tygra, but i think it’s worse for Lion-o knowing that people thought he was crazy and his own father didn’t think he was worthy of being the King. Lion-o does say it’s been that way since they were little, so he doesn’t know. And Tygra probably won’t ever understand how Lion-o feels about this. I can see Lion-o still feeling guilty about what happened to Claudus and Thundera and seeing it as his fault. I know Lion-o loves Tygra, but Tygra doesn’t seem to love him as much. Constantly putting someone down like that is really bad (been there before) and i don’t see much love in that.

I believe it was the Omens Pt. 1 where Lion-o says that everyone loves Tygra more than him and thinks he’d be a better King.

You raise good arguments Chique, and to how you say Lion-O comes off as a pumped up jerk, this is a stretch but may be a reflection to the original Lion-O. When the original Lion-O grew up due to the time capsule malfunction, and his first fight with the mutants, he went full on “I’m lord of the Thundercats” with his team. And it was carried on through the series to degrees. But the Thundercats, including Jaga always humbled him. So he haphazardly had to understand his limits and his ego.

The same may apply to this incarnation of Lion-O. Especially with Cheetara. It’s obvious he’s definitely inexperienced with women, and of course his hormones and ego are getting the best of him as it seems, hey! he’s only Thunderian!(human?) And there is no malice to Lion-O’s behavior with Cheetara. It’s not like Lion-O totally gave up the quest just to force Cheetara to bed with him. Or forcibly pushing himself onto her like a creeper.

If anything, Tygra’s catching of Cheetara when she was falling in “Forest of Magi Oar” , and yea she needed help from anyone or death, but his smarmy smile as he looked down at her in his arms is questionable. “Hey Tygra what’s really going through your head?”

Lion-O has not said anything along the lines of “I have the sword, I am the king and Cheetara is mine Tygra. Deal with it.” That can be used to compare with what Tygra has recently said. So, Lion-O dragging Cheetara into the ordeal without her knowledge is I agree unfair to her. But maybe Lion-O is just playfully teasing Tygra since perhaps, in Lion-O’s mind, their doing their usual game. Whereas, Tygra has a more serious agenda.

And what may have been a major factor to Cheetara’s attraction to Lion-O, while he may have yet to show more affection to Cheetara, Its perhaps his nervousness with her, she has made him weak in the knees more than once. Plus his actions and how he has helped the other species they have encountered in their journey so far.

Tygra hasn’t really reached out his hands to others, but he is not cold-hearted since he has spoken for the WilyKittens on joining the team, and helping out in battles. So it raises “What If?” questions, what IF Tygra was with the sword to begin with? How would he have lead the team up to this point? How would he have treated Lion-O in front of the others?

I’m a little confused…do you mean about what Lion-O and Tygra have said in regards about Cheetara? If so, I was just trying to point out that everyone who is saying Lion-O/Tygra are objectifying Cheetara because of are reading into things a little too much. Again, sorry if I’m not getting it (I played Skyrim for 6 hours straight and have now transitioned to doing homework while getting distracted by the thread). Of course you might be talking about something someone else said :stuck_out_tongue:

Everyone has their hang ups, just like you said, and that’s what makes them such great characters! A character without any flaws is a bland character. A parent can trust one of their children more than another without necessarily loving them more.

Thanks!

If that were the case the entire right of passage thing would have never happened. Yeah it kind of fell flat when Lion-o started whistling at those girls, but he never said " I dont think you should be king. Later in that same episode he tell’s Grune Lion-O would make an excellent king.
They burst each others balls, but both brothers have shown faith in each other. Tygra defending Lion-O against a group of civilians and Lion-O had the decency to give Tygra the benefit of the doubt in the last moments of Astral Plane. Taunting someone about not getting the girl isnt a put down?

The same reason the sword chose me is the same reason the girl will That didnt come off a little harsh? They both need a long sit down to just get it all out.

Have we ever actually seen Lion-O act nice towards Tygra, though? He challenges him in the hopes of humiliating him in front of Grune (and ends up being the one humiliated instead), tells him that he hopes he’ll be nothing like Tygra when he grows up, growls at him that he won’t let him get in his way in Ramlak Rising when Tygra tells him that going into the storm is madness, challenges him again over Cheetara’s affections, just says “No, I’m King!” when Tygra questions his decisions… but I can’t think of a single time when he showed Tygra that he loves him. It’s possible that Tygra doesn’t even know that Lion-O cares about him.

Tygra isn’t nice to Lion-O either, but it seems like some people are not seeing Lion-O’s bad sides and only focusing on Tygra’s flaws.

Actually, for awhile it’s been people focusing on Lion-O’s bad side and now it’s turning towards Tygra to balance things out. The big thing is that neither brother has the high ground in this conflict of theirs.

It may be hard for Lion-O to show Tygra that he loves him since, as it’s been established, Tygra has gone out of his way to beat Lion-O in everything since they were children. Lion-O has his flaws, and it’s the ordeal he has grown up with dealing with Tygra’s competitiveness. But with how “Into the Astral Plane” ended, Lion-o has faith in his brother, despite all their personal disputes, that Tygra would not betray him. So it shows Lion-O recognizes his issues with Tygra and that brothers will remain together. Not to speak bad about Tygra, but we have yet to see how Tygra deeply feels about Lion-O.

That doesn’t make any sense. Why would people focus on only one character’s bad traits at a time?

I don’t think it is either–it just shows you care enough to throw yourself out there. I think any of the Thundercats would have saved Cheetara if they had had the means.

Tygra has Lion-O’s back when he really needs it, even if he doesn’t agree with him most of the time–that’s brotherly love. I understand where you’re coming from about Lion-O being considered inferior to Tygra by the other Thunderians, but that’s goes hand in hand with what I said before–Lion-O doesn’t understand Tygra and Tygra doesn’t understand Lion-O, which results in resentment and conflict.

Neither respects the other enough to really listen. .I don’t think either of them has had it off any worse than the other since both essentially have the same problem (feelings of inferiority) but for different reasons and in different ways.

P.S–Shirked is a super cool word

Agreed. They are both really good guys, and I don’t think either is morally superior to the other. They’ve both said/done things that are good as well as dumb.

He didn’t sound very convinced that Tygra wouldn’t betray him, imo. There was quite a bit of uncertainty in his voice there, especially in that last “Never?”.

You raise a good point, and considering the current circumstance, hearing a prophecy like that from another character who comically forgets things yet is capable to drop that kind of a bomb at you is something worth thinking twice about.

I think he was more worried I think with a bit of uncertainty mixed in once he was told the visions were never wrong. Especially after Cheetara told him that he’s been living in Lion-O’s shadow all his life earlier that evening. I think Lion-O never considered that since he always felt he’s been living in Tygra’s shadow all his life with him being compared to him all the time.

Funny that both brothers have been living in each other’s shadow.

Wowsers! Lots of activity up here. And Chique- I’m not jumping ship, I’m just trying to prepare myself for disappointment- that way when what I really want happens, It’ll be even better! lol j/k . At this point it’s either one; I’m just used to seeing the protagonist gets girl trope; not to say the other isn’t seen as frequently either. And actually my mind is a bit more open to Cheetara even possibly being single at the end…like an ‘Oops, I didn’t mean to bring all the boys to the yard’ kinda of thing. I think it’d be hilarious. You think so?

And give the boys more time to grow up and GET TO KNOW YOUR OWN FAMILY. It’s amazing that they’ve lived together for so long, yet fail so horribly at communicating and understanding each other.

The kiss threw me at the end. I thought it was really nice though that Tygra has real feelings that have had the chance to grow behind his attraction to her. I also agree with the theory that Ty and Chee probably had plenty of interaction with each other growing up.

And @Tygrarules just because I know I can ask you, and to help this make sense in my head: Some cultures are more affectionate than others (I don’t want to feel like I’m labeling anything). What I get from Spanish speakers on my side is that it is not unusual to kiss someone on the cheek, even if you’re meeting them for the first time (this has been my experience). It has only happened a few times between me and close guy friends my age, usually when something important is going down, or if I’m particularly scared or nervous about something. So that’s kinda how I interpreted the kiss. What do you think?
