Tygra does call him out, but to what effect? I dont think Lion-O is willing to take any opposing advice from anyone. Not even Cheetara (Ramlak Rising)(Old friends). I think Lion-O believes his brother has nothing legit to say. Everything has to go back to their rivalry. Maybe if the opposition was coming from another source it would make him pause a bit.
I understand where you coming from. You’re saying Lion-O is dishing out these comments because after all of those years he finally feels like he has the upper hand on his brother. Correct?
That not the BIGGEST problem I have with Lion-O’s comments. I dont like that he’s using Cheetara, the one person who has had all the faith in the world in him, as a tool to taunt and demean his brother. I think its disgusting. On top of that he’s always the one to bring it up, despite Tygra having little to no reaction. Im not convinced he doesn’t see her as a prize. Sure he cares about her, but the potential to beat Tygra in this competition is to great for him to resit. “May the best cat win”. Win what Lion-O?
I think he’s acting like a douche. That or a stupid little boy. What ever works 
Yeah Lion-o’s a bit of a dick towards Tygra about Cheetara, but ya gotta remember two things. First, he really doesn’t know how Tygra feels about Cheetara, he thinks he just wants her for another fling.
And then also you gotta remember, Tygra has been taunting Lion-o about being better then him at things their whole life. This is the first thing Lion-o has had to do so with so he’s going with it. He doesn’t realize it’s hurting Tygra.
So don’t be so quick to diss Lion-o. I mean I don’t like him much but still.
Problem is that I think with the way Lion-O’s and Tygra’s relationship is right now, they both don’t respect each other’s opinion and think the other doesn’t have anything legit to say. Of course this applies to Lion-O more than Tygra but I think the reason why Lion-O doesn’t right now is that he doesn’t want to appear to having to rely on his brother to make decisions which would make him appear as a weak king.
What I think/hope is that after their rivalry comes to a head in the next episode, they actually start listening to each other more and actually compromise when they can.
I agree. Can you really expect Lion-O to actually resist taunting Tygra some when he actually is winning something for once when Tygra has repeatedly taunted him in the past every time he beat Lion-O? Do you think you can do the same if you were in Lion-O’s position? I think very few people would actually be able to resist doing that. More so for teenagers/young adults.
I think Lion-O will feel guilty and apologize later when/if he finds out about Tygra knowing/liking Cheetara for so long. I don’t think he’ll give up on Cheetara at this point for Tygra but he will apologize for his behavior.
I for one don’t think there is a love triangle. Is even Cheetara part of it? Lion-O and Tygra seem to want her so they compete. But Cheetara just seems to be there as a mother/mentor to all of them. It can’t be a love triangle if she’s not “competing” aswell.
Just a thought.
a true love triangle would have two people after the same person with the person they’re after having feelings for both. forgive me for the comparison, but think of twilight.
we obviously have half of one, but we don’t know cheetara’s true feelings about either brother yet to say for sure. all we know is that the producers called it one so I, personally, am going to assume she has a thing (at least a little) for both brothers.
So just because Im curious, what do you guys think about the triangle now that Astral Plane has aired?
How many CheeTygra fans have jumped ship? I thought throwing that kiss in there could be a red herring. You’re going to spend almost half an episode showcasing Tygra’s unrequited feelings for Cheetara and then end it with a Cheet-O kiss? Really? The more likely choice is so that the viewers are more INCLINED to believe Tygra will do some shady crap in the Astral Plane. Though personally I dont think Tygra looked all that hurt by it. Surprised mostly.
Something changed though, any theories for what that last scene may have ment?
Also what are your views on the nature of their old relationship? Did Tygra ever reveal himself?
What about the theory that Cheetara just hasn’t bothered to tell him no?

Well, it’s become more interesting, to say the least. It isn’t like Tygra has done anything but wink at her once and Cheetara only kissed Lion-o on the cheek. I don’t understand why everyone’s so upset about it and calling Lion-o and Cheetara disgusting names. I don’t thnk he’ll do anything “shady”, but i don’t doubt he’ll take his insults of Lion-o to a new level. I don’t think Tygra revealed himself, and i don’t see why Cheetara would remember him if they only met once and hardly spoke. I’m not sure what theory you’re talking about, but what would she tell him no about?

Some people believe Cheetara does know that Tygra and the boy from the gate are one in the same. She just hasn’t bothered to shoot him down, or is oblivious to his feelings.
I don’t think she knew it was him. He didn’t mention his name or take off his armor. I don’t think she’d be that mean and not mention it.
he’s a prince. i’m sure even when he was young and before she was a cleric she knew exactly who he was. one doesn’t dream of being a royal bodyguard and stay completely ignorant of who they’re sworn to protect. also remember kit and kit knew them both on sight in episode 3 and i’d be more than willing to bet they had never met each other.
But maybe this was before he was adopted. I doubt Tygra would sneak out of the castle since he seems to get mad at Lion-o for doing the same and all. We don’t know what age they are in this, but he didn’t act like he did in the other flashback, but maybe because he liked Cheetara and Lion-o was just an annoyance?
Part of me feels like the armor works as an excuse to hide Tygra’s identity. So when it does become known it’s sort of a big deal. As appealing as that sounds, Tygra mentions something like " no wonder you never seen me" implying that there was more then the one meet up we seen in Astral Plane. Eventually you’d think she’d notice. It would once again be a classic story telling trope. Two youngsters meet up as children and then fall in love as adults (Bambi, Fruits Basket, Lion King one and two). Even the watching from afar thing seems to fit into a lot of stories. Both potential couples in Naruto deal with one part of the couple watching someone from afar and falling in love with that person despite little to no contact( As creepy as that would be in RL). Usually because they see some of themselves, or who they want to be in that person. Living vicariously if you will, and then falling in love as a by product.
Kit and Kat noticed him on sight, but he also wasn’t hidden beneath all of that armor. I know it still looks like him, but sometimes we have to forgive some ridiculousness for the sake of story. Also if there was only one meeting and we dont know when Cheetara finished her training then its still plausible that she failed to figure out they were one in the same. For all we know it took years for her to become an official cleric. I doubt they’d put her on duty fresh after she got in.
Though if he is talking about the one time in Astral Plane, how on earth could she see you if you stayed out of sight? Come on man, TELL HER ABOUT IT!
True enough Tygra was left at the entrance staring at a piece of the flower he gave her,broken blossom broken dream like someone said. But why not the entire flower? What happened to the rest of it?
She probably did not know who he was. For all we know Tygra could have been NEW to Thundera at that time. Regarding Kit and Kat, does it not seem more obvious that they knew them at episode 3? Cmon Lion-O and Tygra are grown up. With all the things that happend in the kingdom in Episode one and two and probably cause of other Royal events they know who they are.

I’m inclined to believe the kiss is a red herring meant to bring about more negative feelings from Tygra (by the writers). On Cheetara’s part it’s too blatant in action but vague in emotion.
Tygra and Cheetara meeting again and becoming friends (with him having secret feelings) would explain their apparent comfortableness around each other. It would explain why he’s not as obvious about his feelings if he had years of practice being “the friend” where he hid his romantic feelings while around her anyway.
I think Cheetara has more faith in Tygra than some people are giving her credit for. Yes, Lion-O did say he felt there was darkness within Tygra (which I viewed as him confiding in his supporter more than dissing his brother in front of the girl they both like), but I got the impression that Cheetara was sympathetic for Tygra. When she said “Tigers are known for their pride” she had a small smile, and it she didn’t seem to be saying it in a negative way, more in a familiar way; and when she said “Probably because he’s been in his younger brother’s shadow all his life” she looked and sounded a little sad.
Body language and tone of voice have just as much, if not more, significance than what is actually said.
Hello everyone, I’m a new guy here, just recently ran into these boards and really like your fun discussion about the love triangle the cats are in, plus I’m a sucker for these romances.
All of you bring up really valid points and to bring my shipping favorite to the table is that I’m all for Lion-O + Cheetara. Tygra is a very cool character as well, both his 80’s incarnation and this one. I mean it since I have been a fan of the original series since I was little. And while that’s another deep discussion there as to the originals “the hints and such were in Sixth Sense, Telepathy Beam” yada yada etc. The new series really brought it up.
Anyway to the discussion, I recall in the earlier posts one of you mentioned something along the lines of Lion-O objectifying Cheetara and I have to disagree. Lion-O, I’ll admit is kind of a bold jerk at times, but that’s mostly due to his youthful confidence. And Tygra has been much more of a competitive sibling to Lion-O as they grew up together for the possible reasons we know of so far, either due to Grune’s influence, sibling jealousy or unable to cope with being adopted into the family and having the Sword of Omens reject him, or of course mixture of all those elements.
In the recent episode, Into the Astral Plane, in case you may have not picked up on it, Tygra in a sense has made an object of Cheetara when he said to himself towards Lion-O “And just like the sword, one more thing you don’t deserve.” Tygra is gradually showing his negative colors. He wants the Sword and Cheeatara in his possession. Lion-O’s competitive actions to his brother may be questionable, but it may be due to just how he’s grown up with Tygra and is countering in a similar manner as Tygra has done to him. Also to add, Lion-O is not completely bashing his brother, since he has said “we don’t always get along but he wouldn’t betray me”. So to see how the next episode will conclude with, is something worth seeing.
And Lion-O has shown support to Cheetara when he attempted twice to go to her rescue in "Journey to the Tower of Omens " but being coerced by the others in his first attempt to keep going for the Book of Omens, and attacked by Mumm-Ra in the second. And in the “Forest of the Magi Oar” when she was falling, Lion- O did attempt to go for her, but of course beaten out by Tygra. And yea Cheetara is very supportive of Lion-O, and the advice she has given him and their conversations, Lion-O has listened to her in a positive way. He has never coldly brushed her off. So they have good communication and that’s a building factor in a relationship and he has shown he has held Cheetara’s words dear to him.
So, wow I wrote a good chunk, anyway, hopefully this week goes by fast so we can all see the season finale !

Glad I wasn’t the only one who was like “hey” at Tygra referring to Cheetara as a thing.
Lion-o I think is typical of showing male bravado to cover up his inexperience. Typical of this age, what’s the kid like- 17? He’s not as macho as he likes to pretend he is. (No that’s not a criticism, just an observation. Young men do this all the time.)
Like you- I wonder how much Grune’s influence is in how Tygra sees the world. Tygra obviously put him on a pedestal, probably on close footing with his father. (I’m exploring this in Traitor’s House, because I find it interesting.)
On a lighter note, I like the way when Lion-o and Cheetara are shown together- it seems to be she that is more of the pursuer. I like that, and think it makes her more in charge of the relationship no matter what Lion-o says. As a female, its a nice change.
You make a good point. So technically both guys really don’t deserve Cheetara if they are truly objectifying her. I don’t think they are really.
Yeah, if they get together then we’ll definately know who wears the pants in that relationship. 
Perhaps its a part of the Thunderian culture? That the females pursue the males. In the episode “Legacy” Panthera was making the advances and encouraging Leo. It’s possible “Legacy” serves as a brief foreshadowing to the recent timelines events as well as the romantic tones. I hope Tygra does not go full evil, but what he has recently said about the sword and Cheetara , makes Lion-O’s trash talk pale in comparison.

I don’t see Lion-o as objectifying her, in my opinion. He does say in Astral Plane, that “She’ll choose me.” I thought it was sweet, cause he seems more confident and implies she’ll make the decision, not one of the brothers. Which i like, since it is her decision.
I don’t think he would mind. Might think it’s awesome.
