If anything this episode shows how invested Tygra is in his feelings for Cheetara. In comparison to Lion-O who ONCE AGAIN MAKES A COMPETITION OUT OF IT. In last episode some of you convinced me it was not his intention, but nothing will change my mind this time.
One brother watches her from afar because he’s to afraid to approach her with his true feelings. He instead waits in the rain, behind a statue or in a hanger while the girl he’s carrying a torch for realizes her own dreams. He leaves her a flower to cheer her up, but he’s still to afraid to do much of anything about it. He smiles when she finally gets what she’s been waiting for.
Lion-O on the other hand hasn’t done much of anything to support Cheetara or make her feel better. She’s being doing all that for him. Driving home their incompatibility. How Cheetara seemingly loses out, if Cheet-O is romantic cannon.
Maybe one day Tygra will get the guts to confess. Let the girl know you were there and that you supported her and watched her from afar. Gain the confidence to love her by her side, and not behind the walls you’ve put up:(
If Cheet-O is to become cannon then hopefully Lion-O sees that winning the girl is not meant to be literal. Its not a game when real feelings are involved, and I hope to see you grow to realize that.

That’s random but I had a flashback to the first episode and like Tygra had a history with her. I wonder if Lion-O did as well. Well I wonder if she might have had a crush on Lion-O. Tygra’s line " I’m always invisible to you" Made me think that Tygra was always watching Cheetara while, Cheetara was watching Lion-O. Made a competition out of it? How so? If that’s the case you could accuse Tygra of the same thing. He always tries to up Lion-O. He’s always trying to prove he’s better, than Lion-O. “Competition” means that more than one person is competing. Tygra competes with Lion-O. This last episode is proof of Tygra’s rivalry with Lion-O, the same way Lion-O competes with Tygra
Your premise is flawed. Because you are steadily saying that Tygra offers support that Lion-O does not then you say
You criticize Lion-O for doing nothing for Cheetara,and then you make excuses for Tygra doing the same thing
If he put up “walls” then how is that support? “Smiling” at her and watching her from “afar” is hardly support.
There is nothing wrong with Lion-O being supported by Cheetara. Even great pillars need support. That’s what love is all about. You know…it might just make her feel good to be his strength
Love is not about “I do this for you, so you have to do this for me”. It’s about being there for your loved one when they need you.
I think Cheetara and Lion-O are compatible and Tygra and Cheetara pairing has some merit. As of right now, it’s one-sided. But that may change
Yeah, we haven’t exactly seen Cheetarah in a situation where she really needed help so Lion-O hasn’t exactly had an opportunity to support her or help her out.
Tygra himself hasn’t exactly supported her when they were kids. All he really did was tell her where the Clerics were at and then leave a flower for her at the for her while she was waiting at the Clerics’ door. He never did go to her and support her when she was sitting there alone and miserable waiting at their door for days. Granted he was a boy with a crush on a girl but the impression I got is that he still never made a move on her or really been there for her.
It’s just me personally but I still don’t see anything romantic on Cheetara’s end towards Lion-O (or Tygra). A kiss can mean many different things, and can be interpreted differently by people, even between the two sharing a kiss (though this one wasn’t really shared, as it was given). I’m not saying “RAWR, I will ignore all evidence that doesn’t support my ship!” but until we see what’s in Cheetara’s head we really don’t know what she’s thinking. We know how Lion-O, Tygra, Panthro and everyone else feels because they vocally express their feelings. With Cheetara, when she voices her feelings, it has to do with believing in Lion-O, but that doesn’t automatically mean it’s romantic. I believe in and support my students, but it’s all platonic.
I’m not saying it can’t be romantic, just that I don’t see any strong indication that it officially is. We really need to know how Cheetara feels about everyone. If anything, the flashback in the most recent episode shows she’s kind of oblivious to guys being attracted to her. For all we know she doesn’t know Lion-O likes her.
I also have to keep referring to what one of the producers (I think it was a producer), stating that Lion-O interpreted her support as affection. That casts doubts in my mind that Cheetara’s feelings are more than platonic/loyalty based.
Taking a step away from the show and looking from a different perspective, I feel that having Lion-O ‘get the/a girl’ so early would be very odd from a storytelling standpoint. We’re only 12 episodes into a 26 episode season (with another 26 on the way). Even if you wanted romantic resolution wrapped up before the end of the show, doing it halfway through the first season would be unusual.
Going back to the show, I don’t really think Lion-O sees vying for Cheetara’s attention as a competition. What I think, is that he’s just being a little arrogant (not horrible sin arrogant, but 17 year old boy arrogant). Teenagers are still between kid and adult, and they can switch between being mature and immature depending on the situation. When it comes to the sword, and his role as Lord of the Thundercats, Lion-O takes it very seriously—though he makes mistakes the fact he takes it so seriously shows maturity. However with girls he’s shown to be far more immature.
Cheetara hasnt really been a a situation to call for support. So who knows, maybe he one day will. All I know is Astral Plane made Tygra seem perfect for the job:) All he needs is the confidence to do it by her side.
Classic story telling trope.
If you recall, Cheetara did need help in the Magi Oar episode when she was almost eaten by Viragor. And who was the one that came to her aid? Tygra. No this wasn’t a situation of extreme support and Cheetara may have found a way out of it by herself if he hadn’t helped her.
Here’s the two possibilities I see for the outcome of the Cheetara/Lion-o/Tygra thing.
Either Lion-o and Cheetara will end up together and Tygra will get Pumyra when she joins the show, which is kinda unlikely, y’know cause of how Tygra feels about Cheetara, though it would indicate him growing.
Or and this is the more likely one, Cheetara will come to realize how Tygra feels and get with him, and then when Pumyra joins the show she’ll end up with Lion-o. And honestly I’ve always felt for that pairing.
Why does so many people think the ‘loser’ will end up with Pumyra? We haven’t even seen her yet. She might already be with Bengali. She could even be a little girl who is too young for both Tygra and Lion-O.
I really hope Pumyra doesn’t turn into some sort of consolation prize. And if everyone needs to be paired up with someone by the end of the series, who will Panthro get (Grune!!!)? Or doesn’t he count because he’s old?
What consolation prize? I mean like, they fall in love with her, not just get with her cause she’s there. It happens all the time in shows, two characters in love with one girl, one gets her and the other doesn’t, then new girl shows up and one who doesn’t get first girl slowly starts to notice new girl, and begins to fall for her.
She could very well come across as a consolation prize if the writers aren’t good enough. Like… “Awww, poor Tygra/Lion-O, he’s so sad because Cheetara doesn’t love him. But look, there’s another girl! Now he’s happy again, yaaaay!”
And my question still stands, why does so many people think that the brother who doesn’t get Cheetara will end up with Pumyra?
My reasons are mostly cause I’ve always felt Lion-o and Pumyra would be good together, it’s the whole, shining knight ends up with the beautiful/compassionate healer scenario that’s been done to death. But I’ve always liked it. I don’t know other people’s reason’s though.
And I should hope the writers don’t handle it like that. Look at Smallville, with Clark/Lana/Lois, look how that was handled. I should hope it goes down like that.
I never watched Smallville, but I think it would be very difficult not to turn a new love interest into a consolation prize. Quite some time would have to pass first, and the rejected guy would have to be completely over Cheetara. AND the new girl would have to be established as her own character before she becomes a love interest, or she’s simply going to be the girl who replaces Cheetara. And really, I like Pumyra so much that I don’t want the writers to take that risk. But that’s just me.
When I watched the OS, I always thought that Tygra and Cheetara were kind of a couple without being it (you know what I mean?),a nd that there was soemthing between Pumyra and Bengali, never Lion-o.
Of course, they ruined everything with those dissastrous last eps whereTygraa nd Pumyra stayed in Third Earth.
Now, and not because I’m a Tygra fan, I think Pumyra will be a nice match for Lion-o, but we have to see Bengali first as well.
I want to see Lion-O with a girl who challenges him. Someone who will call him out when he’s being stupid (Lion-O needs no more blind followers) A real spitfire. The combination could really work some humor into the romance. As of now its either corny or a touch depressing.
Kind of like the Kid Flash/Artemis relationship. Or even Sango/Miroku.
i like this post, cause you make a superb point. especially being the king, he really doesnt need his mate to be as subservient as Cheetara. Cheetara already lets him run amok regardless of if he is right or not due to her unwavering loyalty to the Lord of the Thundercats (the throne, not Lion-O specifically), and i feel having her as his mate would actually hinder his growth, and it would set up their relationship as something that is far outdated and possibly offensive (“see girls, even cartoons tell you to stay in your place and do whatever your husband tells you…”)
i would like to see another female come on the scene BEFORE the Tygra/Cheetara/Lion-O triangle is settled. as others have stated before, it seems more like Lion-O wants a girlfriend in general, not specifically Cheetara, and bringing another female on the scene would help showcase that, moving Cheetara closer to Tygra once she sees that Lion-O doesnt actually have his heart in it the way that he would lead her to believe
and this new female (we’ll say Pumyra simply because everyone else is saying it) could take the antagonist girlfriend position, who actually questions his motives and decisions, causing Lion-O to evolve into a more well rounded king (especially since Tygra can NOT stay in the role of questioning the king forever, he will eventually support Lion-O or become a villain due to his unwillingness to support Lion-O, either way it will open up that spot)
He has Tygra there to challenge him and call him out when he’s being stupid. He doesn’t need more of that especially since I don’t think Tygra’s role will really change much even after this big fight between them. Tygra will still question Lion-O but I think he will respect Lion-O’s decisions more and Lion-O will respect Tygra’s opinions more. Right now Lion-O and Tygra don’t do that.
I do admit Lion-O is being a bit of a jerk about the love triangle thing with Tygra but I think that’ll come back to bite him in the butt in the next episode with Tygra’s ‘betrayl’.
As for why he is behaving this way right now, my theory is that Lion-O is thinking the competition to woo Cheetara is more of the same competition between him and Tygra and he thinks Tygra isn’t that serious about her (which he wrong as he does like her alot).
This is also the first time that he is basically winning against Tygra in one of their competitions so he is feeling a bit of retaliation in being ****y and taunting towards Tygra is in order.
I really can’t blame Lion-O for that when Tygra has done the same to Lion-O all the time in the past as well. At least Lion-O isn’t treating Cheetarah like an object and is holding her as a prize in a race, fight, etc.
Ironically, both brothers are bringing this big clash they are about to have on themselves for the most part.
Maybe he told her that because he confides in Cheetarah for support and advice even in more personal matters when it comes to family? He didn’t sound vindictive or like he was saying it to get Cheetara to turn against Tygra.
