definitely can agree with this. Lion-o is seventeen and, judging from the first episodes voice box malfunction, doesn’t have a lot of experience with the fairer cats. He probably likes the attention and will automatically assume Cheetaras got a thing for the king.
I also like the idea that maybe it was Cheetara who cut it off because of the cleric training. Tygra is the oldest of the three so, at least by numbers, he has the best chance at keeping it cool. Which he has been doing in spades.
Do you think if a confrontation ensues the team will split for a time? Or Lion-o will walk a solitary path for a bit?

If people are taking bets I’ll throw my five bucks on Tygra and Cheetara eventually getting together. It makes too much sense and would teach Lion-o so much.

OMG, check out the preview clips, I don’t want to spoil anything but all I’ll say is CUTENESS and I’m thinking Tygra’s the one to be with Cheetara.
I’m thinking my theory about Tygra being more emotionally invested in Cheetara is a valid one. Tygra was clearly twitterpatted with Cheetara (haha poor tiger cub couldn’t do anything but stutter, blush and stare). Love at first sight? Aww even more I’m hoping for Cheetygra FTW.
It would be if they had broken up a short time ago or it was a bad breakup. It’s another if they broke up years ago and it was a more friendly breakup. Doesn’t seem cold hearded to me.
Of course after watching the previews to the episode that potentially Tygra may have silently crushed on Cheetara for years without making a move.
That definately sounds possible and was what I thought at first as well until the “Journey to the Tower of Omens” episode where she did invade his personal space quite a bit and didn’t deny the Wiley twins’ teasing that they were playing kissy face/flirting. Especially since Lion-O was definately nervous when she was in his personal space like that and his embarrassment when the twins suprised him.
I would think that setting the record straight for the guy would be a big thing for a woman who isn’t interested in said guy when a scene like that definately shows the guy is interested.
I agree with you Urazz, that L/C is most probable; but T/C is what I want to see. And hey, we don’t know just yet!
Sometimes also, a female won’t say anything to a guy that shows evidence of being interested in her, simply because she knows it won’t amount to anything, or she wants to ‘be nice’ because its a friend or someone she’ll be working close with in the future. She may wait until he physically verbalizes his interest in her to politely decline.
Because you can be attracted to someone, but not actively pursuing them. The pursuit shows them your interest. Then again, we’re only at 12 eps so it’s not like there’s been loads of time, or appropriate moments for this sort of thing anyway.

Some people are naturally flirtatious. They just see it as good fun. Judging from that clip Cheetara could very well be one of those, uh people ( cats). Bad part about being naturally flirty? You are not all that good at turning it off. She may not think shes being flirtatious. Like CappucioBird said, she may think shes just being supportive and warm. Shes built like a Victoria Secrets’ supermodel and ooses sensuality. The average teenage boy would find her very flirtatious.
She looked like she knew Tygra wasn’t going to rat her out,most likely because she knew he was attracted to her.
Well, it depends on how serious the relationship was and how long ago it happened. If the girl is an ex-wife or ex-fiancee that would be one thing that would definately still have an effect on that family member since it was more dedicated and serious. An ex-girlfriend is another, especially if the breakup is more mutual and civil.

I mean, thinking it this way: Tygra and Cheetara know each other for a long time, they might have had a romantic relationship or not, but that was in the past, now they’re friends at most.
Lion-o didn’t know about their previous relationship, so he interprets their actual relation as a romantic one, but there’s actual no romance between them, so the infamous love triangle actually isn’t one, it’s just that Lion-o sees himself involved in a love triangle that dosn’t exist, but he creates it.
I the end, Lion-o gets Cheetara adn nobody feels sorry for Tygra because he was alerady over Cheetara and she was already over him.

We have more than enough reason to believe Tygra still carries a torch for Cheetara.Journey to The Tower of Omens and The Forest of Magi Oar both have hinted at an attraction. I wont say it means CheeTygra will happen, but I dont think it works against it either.
I think the next episode will be very telling. Ive said it before, Tygra and Cheetara have not done much to promote evidence of any lasting level of fondness. For all we know whatever “relationship” they had ended badly. Maybe it just fizzled out ):
Ive rolled over something in my head. What if Cheetara and Tygra did have some sort of growing fondness between them but Cheetara didnt like the changes she seen in him. In the premier he’s essentially the ****y ******* most fans have grown to love him for, but in the Astral Plane clip he is pretty dorky and even shy. He turns into Goofy. He seems a lot more humble. Somebody wrote about Grune’s influence changing Tygra into a different person from who he would have been with out his influence. Maybe Cheetara remembers the old Tygra and dislikes the changes shes seen in him.
Im just trying to be as open minded as possible. I cannot let the rabid spots and stripes shipper in me lose. She cannot be tamed.
I had that same idea so far we’ve seen Tygra twice as a cub with two completely different personalities, the Tygra cub in Old Friends looks bold, clever and even hungry for victory, this recent flashback of a slightly even younger shy eager little Tygra is so far from that I’m thinking Grune was constantly influencing his impressionable mind and preying on his vulnerability, (kids are extremely easy to make an impression on for good or bad).
I think its dead on that Tygra developed a taste for victories with Lion-O to make up for things he coulnt fight and earn from him and maybe Cheetara saw this evolution into a “braver, stronger, better Tygra” and didn’t like it, (I could just see Tygra humiliating Lion-O horribly in a public sparring and right after ,feeling like a bigshot, flirting with Cheetara and Cheetara angrily or dismayed and sad not even giving him the time of day).
I think Cheetygra will happen, possibly after Cheet-O happens and doesnt work out but I think Tygra is in for some major tests and soul searching.
Part of the problem is that I don’t think Tygra will ever be able to become that shy and innocent little dork again. I think that is also why Cheetara is potentially interested in Lion-O, he’s a bit of a shy and innocent dork like Tygra was.
It’s pretty hard to grow away from a major influence in your life like Grune was so I don’t think we’ll ever see Tygra behave that way again. More like he’ll just be less arrogant and supportive of Lion-O. He’ll still be competitive with Lion-O, he just won’t rub it in Lion-O’s face about it.
Also, I don’t think Grune is the only bad influence on Tygra growing up. I think the rumor mill amongst Thundera’s populace had an effect as well and that caused Tygra to work as hard and be as dutiful as he will be a son Claudus will be proud of.
^ I think its a lot of what you said, but I think Grune’s influence is also a major factor, probably the starting point. In Old Friends Tygra was winning the spar with Lion-O, but when Grune started pumping him up he got a little brutal with his brother. Im willing to bet Grune planted the seeds for a lot of Tygra’s less desirable traits.

" What you cannot earn, can be taken". The theories that he may have been grooming Tygra for treason on the sly may not be all that far from the truth. On a subconscious level of course. He had an esteemed war hero and one of his father’s best friends telling him he would be perfect as king because he was better than Lion-O. Then when he starts to see that he is infact better than Lion-O, does he start to question why he cannot be King, other than the obvious. He was basically forced to see everything for what it was worth. The only thing stopping you from ruling is the fact that you are not a lion. You are NOT Cladus’ real son. I dont think Tygra will be evil, but one of his driving motives may be to show everyone their making a mistake by looking past him because of his lineage. He was probably really insecure about his place in his family, and so he chose to over compensate. I think once Tygra becomes comfortable with the person he is, and can see he has nothing to “lose” the competition will stop. Maybe a good natured race every now and then
I doubt Tygra would have stayed shy and dorky with or without Grune’s influence. He was in that awkward preteen stage. She was a pretty girl, a really pretty girl who was also really cool. Even if Grune was a non-factor, I doubt he would still be that awkward. Come on , even Lion-O keeps his cool better then preteen Tygra:D Do I think he will go back to being a shy, stuttering preteen ? No but its a bit unreasonable to think he would or should. IF cheetara and Tygra had a falling out it could have happened AFTER he got comfortable around her. She mite not have necessarily liked him because he was shy and stuttering, but she may have disliked him for being unnecessarily mean. Stuff like making fun of Lion-O in public and making him feel inadequate by comparison.
I also think her duty could have gotten between them. Shes a cleric. Her DUTY will always be to Lion-O because he would be/is the King.
Now Tygra has unresolved issues with his brother, and the girl he has feelings for is sworn to protect him? Ouch.
Maybe he put up his own walls and slowly pushed her away because of he felt she would eventually fall for Lion-O? Just another one of his insecurities tearing him apart.
These are just a couple of fun theories. Im still not convinced the past relationship will be a romantic one , but anything can happen (;
I dunno, Lion-O has shown to have his cool broken from Cheetara in the past quite easily. Last example was the ‘journey to the tower of omens’ episode. His cool was visibly and vocally broken when she got close to him like she did.
Wow, interesting theories. Essentially Tygra kinda shot himself in the foot without realizing it. What do you think he’d have to do to make himself -for lack of better words- ‘more attractive’ to Cheetara? @TygraStripes- very interesting…what do you think would cause Cheet-O to end then? and make room for Cheetygra?
I dunno. I would have to see if there is any indication at all that Cheetara may have/ever had romantic feelings for Tygra.
If she did have feelings for him and he did push her away with his negativity and insecurities issues, then letting go of his resentment and insecurities would remove the old hypothetical problem they had.
Classic defense mechanism. Remove the potential problem before it becomes a problem. She cant leave me if I leave her first. Remove any potential for vulnerability.
Use humor and arrogance as a way to cover up whats really bothering me.
Wink at her, because I dont want to slip up and let my true feelings reflect on my face. You know what, that could be why Cheetara had that slightly bored/annoyed look when he winked at her. She may have felt like he was making a mockery of their old relationship. 'You’re going to wink at me like Im just another pretty face? Like that is the depth of our relationship.
Hmm the more I speculate and read all of the opinions on here, the more I feel like they were in a romantic relationship. One that had to end on a bad note:mad:

I agree with Chique in that Tygra would have stopped being shy with or without Grune on the picture. He was a preteen, then turned into a young man. There might still be some remainings of that shyness, but he couldn’t stay that way forever, could he? Not because of Grune, but because he had to prove himself to Claudus, and being shy wouldn’t have got the job done.
So, I think Claudus was, at the end of the day, a bigger factor than Grune for Tygra’s change. Grune just gave him the “little push”.
I now don’t think Cheetara and Tygra were on a relationship back then, but I do think thet were good friends, amybe secret best friends, and he had strong feelings for her that never dared to confess to her, and still holds them, but plays cool around her, and maybe, he still is his best friend (that wink in the premiere says a lot).
With this I don’t agree. Had Cheetara and Tygra had a relationship that ended bad, they wouldn’t be comfortable around each other any more IMO. Yes, they will be together because Cheetara’s job is to take care of Lion-o, and Tygra’s role as a big brother and a prince is to stay with his brother, maybe even give him advice, but if the case was that they were romantically involved and it ended the bad way, then they might be arguing all the time, or at least not speaking at each other more than necessary, or feeling uncomfortable and in a bad mood being close to each one. That doesn’t seem the case to me.
I’m not saying they weren’t a couple (which I’m starting to doubt though, but could have happened), only that if it was the case, it didn’t end up that bad.
Yeah, I agree. If they did have a relationship, then it didn’t end badly or things would’ve been awkward between the two back in Ramlak Rising once the rush of escaping Mumm-Ra’s forces was finished in episode 2.
Though I haven’t watched it yet…it seems as though the ship may be sunk, according to what I’m hearing…
Oh well. Like that will really stop peoples. Though granted there were plenty of hints- they met in thebeginning of the first ep etc.
