I said something similar about Lion-O because of LEGACY. He was more then cool with macking on Panthara. I would have thought he would be a little more hesitant if their was a girl he really liked back home.
Also lines like " I am so dead. At least I have a girlfriend", support the he just really wants a girlfriend. Now, Im not saying he doesn’t care for Cheetara. That was obvious long before the premier of the last episode. He got sidetracked twice in Journey to The Tower of Omens because he was concerned for Cheetara.
Lion-O showed immediate interest in Cheetara . Way before he got to know her ( In the premier his voice cracks when he sees how beautiful she is), so both brothers have shown their more shallow tendencies when it comes to attractive women.
So basically, Lion-O isn’t so much in love with Cheetara, just in love with the idea of having Cheetara as a girlfriend. This may sound weird, but I think Cheetara not having as much character development may work in favor of this; if we the audience don’t know all that much about her, then in a way, neither does Lion-O. This way, he does not have as good of a reason to be in love with her, because he doesn’t truly know her. Part of her appeal is that she’s a bit of a mystery. Or maybe not, just a theory.
I can relate to that though. At that age, people do start dating, sometimes because they think they’re supposed to start falling in love and having boyfriends and girlfriends. But I really hope that Cheetara breaks it to Lion-O softly that she’s not interested. Lion-O can get some good life experience from it, and it’s something that most people learn eventually.
I think that episode 14 is when Pumyra, Bengali, and Lynx-O will enter the scene. Lion-O could see another opportunity at finding love with Pumyra, but because of his experience with Cheetara he’s afraid of being shot down again, and doesn’t pursue it. This ends up getting awkward because he and Pumyra might end up genuinely liking each other a lot, and Lion-O just can’t spit it out because he doubts his own feelings for her out of fear of what happened with Cheetara.
That’s just my guess.
Isn’t that what always happen (at least in these kind of shows) with cool guys when they find a girl they like, but she doesn’t show any interest? They like it 
I agree, but I think that will happen with every other character besides Lion-o… producers will show some emotion from them, but nothing too deep I’m afraid.
I got that impression from Lion-o from “Legacy” from his “at least I have a GF” comment. Sorry if you don’t share my view, it’s just how I see it. Guess we’ll have to agree in disagree 
Also, I think that if in the last episode Lion-o looked worried, it also (but not only, because of course he cares for her) had to do with the fact that it was Tygra who caught her, and that worried him because of the conversation they had earlier. He worried about Tygra taking the lead.
You’re right, Tygra showed shallowness in the premiere when he winked at her, but he has spent tinme with her and I think he’s grown to know her and like her for what she is (not saying lion-o couldn’t have done that as well), not just another guirl he could count among his affairs.

Again, I didn’t mean to say Lion-o doesn’t care for Cheetara, because of course he does, but when it comes down to the love field, I have the impression he wants a GF more than an specific GF. JMO.

I just wanted to say that when it comes to that scene in Legacy that we can’t know for sure wither that was all Lion-O or if some residual feelings and/or memories might’ve came from Leo.
Wasnt that the problem with that episode? Some people believe it was all Lion-O and some believe Lion-O basically did exactly what Leo, uh already did.
Who knows.
I think that it was pretty clear that it was Lion-o reliving the events of Leo, so it was Lion-o and not his greatgreatgreat grandad interacting with panthera. That being said, I think that if Cheetara goes with Lion-o and not Tygra, it runs the risk of taking all significance away from Tygra as a character. He’ll eventually be weaker compared to Lion-o when Lion-o is full grown, he won’t be the leader/alpha male, and he will have lost the girl. It doesn’t give him much growing room if he is painted only as the guy that loses to Lion-o, but that’s just a theory I could be way off.
How does it take away all significance of Tygra as a character if he doesn’t get Cheetara? If anything he’s painted as the guy who is constantly beating Lion-O right now. So him losing Cheetara to Lion-O won’t change anything. And I really doubt Lion-O will be able to beat Tygra all the time when he is stronger later on.
on the contrary even the crew said that Lion-O had some of Leo’s memories while in the book. Lion-O was in control, but he had help. For example how do you think Lion-O knew how to use the computer terminals? and he used them without even thinking about it. even acted surprised.
While I wouldn’t say it would take all significance away from his character, I can see why some Tygra fans, including myself, are a little weary of this rivalry/triangle deal. Anytime you have a rival/foil for the main character, especially one who’s portrayed as stronger in the beginning, their character runs the greatest risk of coming across in a bad light down the road.
Lion-O, as the main character, is ultimately noble and true at his core. So, while he may have a hiccup along the way, it won’t be that bad. Tygra, on the other hand, doesn’t have the “main hero” netting and could go from one extreme to the other. Not that I ever expect him to become evil but you can’t deny that he fits the character archetype.
Like I’ve said before, I don’t really have a problem with Cheetara ending up with Lion-O. My problem is adding Tygra into that mix as another way of showing that Lion-O’s his better. That’s not needed when Lion-O is going to prove to be the bestest king ever in the end anyway.
Besides that, Tygra is all the time bickering and gloating about how better he is (better than Lion-o that is)… if Lion-o “wins” Cheetara over him, and has previously won the sword and the throne and the leadership of the group, then Tygra will have nothing to say to him, because seriously, his dialogues so far are only to show some opposition or mockery; if Lion-o wins him in everything, Tygra will have nothing to oppose to / joke about, so he runs the risk to turn into an almost mute charatcer.
I’d say actually recently Tygra has changed his attitude of late. He encouraged Lion-o to believe in himself and and admitted Cheetara sure seems to. So, I’d say he is growing and learning there to be a better, more supportive brother. Also when Lion-o verbally addressed the competition for Cheetara’s affections, Tygra’s reaction was very interesting. He didn’t respond back with any retorts, and he got a certain look on his face. Almost like he knows something Lion-o doesn’t, not to say that Tygra and Cheetara are dating or anything, but maybe they dated before and are just friends now and Lion-o is totally unaware of the whole thing? We’ll see though. Either way I expect some twists along the way.
oh goody theory time. ok here’s my thoughts.
maybe Tygra and Cheetara were involved just a year or so back when she’s finishing her cleric training. after graduating she gets assigned as Lion-O’s guardian (unknown to Lion-O of course). they could’ve dated only a couple weeks (explaining how they don’t really act like former lovers) with her new job she has less free time for a relationship and one of them breaks it off. either Tygra because she was too busy for him or Cheetara cause she thought it unfair to Tygra that she never had any time for him. leaning towards Tygra cause he could realize his mistake now, but is unsure how to fix it and get her back which would explain why he’s been so subtle about his interest in her.
Exactly, what I was thinking. If they did have a relationship in the past it would’ve been only for a few weeks to a few months at the most years ago when they were teenagers.
It’s definately enough time to become lovers but they both don’t strike me as the type to have casual sex that early into a relationship. For Tygra, it’s because he doesn’t want to cause a scandal for Claudus. For Cheetara, it would be because she is more commited to duty and wouldn’t want something like a child from a casual fling to interfere with that. She’s a career woman essentially so she would expect the father of the child to take part in raising it.
like your ideas, but I think the only scandal tygra would have risked was getting involved with someone from the cloth. I mean, adopted or not- Tygra is royalty. I think people would have turned a blind eye.

anyway even if clerics were priests (they’ve only been confirmed to be bodyguards so far). I don’t think they’re the kind that has to take vows of chastity.
Probably not if he knocked up a woman from a fling. Also, Cheetara isn’t a nun or priest of catholic faith. We don’t know if clerics have to take vows of celibacy or chastity.
Remember, Tygra is adopted so he probably got extra scrutiny from everyone compared to Lion-O and any scandals created from him would be even more embarrasing to Claudus. I also got the feeling that Tygra wanted to be the ‘ideal’ son a king would want so to make Claudus proud of him and so probably avoided creating scandals like the plague.
I got this impression as well. Tygra quotes Claudus quite a bit and in the premiere Lion-O is the one presented as the black sheep of the family
Well it looks like it’s going to come to a head in the next two episodes before the big break. So, predictions? Does Cheetara go with either of them in the next two episodes or does it remain unsolved until much later in the seasons? Did Tygra and Cheetara previously have a “relationship” of any sort? Is Cheetara even interested in Lion-o in that way?

As far as this triangle goes what about a square? one word. Panthro. Has anyone ever read the Wildstorm comics? There is a story line out there that plays out the obvious attraction between the two of them.
But between Lion-o and Tygra I think that what you guys are saying is spot on. I totally see the history that is subtly being shown in the show between Tygra and Cheetara. I think Lion-o ultimately doesn’t have a chance. Cheetara and Tygra are too enmeshed at this point. Lion-o doesn’t have the overall perspective to be in a relationship anyway. He’s got a lot to learn. That being said I think once he gets in his stride he’ll captain Kirk the heck out of all of third earth.
