Perhaps Lion-O is paying more attention than we realize, besides that he knows his big brother, not a whole lot of reasons for actions and motives are a mystery when you’ve shared a life of many years together with your sibling. Cheetara and Tygra have not said much that we’ve gotten to see together but their silence and close proximity can speak louder than words, maybe Lion-O dismissed it before but I’m thinking the night under the mushrooms in Berbils may have told him Tygra and Cheetara definitely are getting too close for comfort, it may have been completely innocent but it may have given Lion-O alarm bells considering Cheetara has become very much Lion’O’s cheerleader its like having that star cheerleader suddenly sitting on the other teams bleachers. A quiet kind of peace and understanding can sneakily blossom into something more before you know it.
As long as they don’t do anything to objectify her, I don’t see it as too bad if they only keep it private between themselves. I.E. as long as they don’t use her as a prize in one of their little mini competitions (races, fights, etc.) or gloat against the other when they ‘win,’ I think it’ll be fine.
Personally, I think whoever 'win’s will just act a little smug but wouldn’t outright gloat over the other when he wins. I like to think they are both better than that when it comes to something more serious like that.
“May the best cat win” sounds the like the grounds for a competition. Even them silently competing against one another for Cheetara is extremely disrespectful. It reduces her to something without feelings or CHOICES.
I think its wrong for either of them to consent to it.

Both of them should realize love doesn’t work that way. You don’t fall in love with someone because they are better. That sounds more like awe or admiration only. Implying that Cheetara will chose a “better cat” is a really rude thing to say about her character .
i dont think they intended that to come across sounding like an actual competition between the 2 with her as a prize, as if they will have an arm wrestling competition or a race or something that absolutely doesnt involve her, more of a spoken understanding that they are both vying for her affection.
in the end, it is ONLY her choice, but it is up to the 2 of them to try to gain favor, isnt it? are people here suggesting they shouldnt try to get her to like them? cause that is very far from how it actually works

the way i can see this working out is that Lion-O becomes super clingy and tries to the point of be obnoxious, while Tygra will likely play the role of a more traditional suitor due to him not seeing Cheetara as something that can be “won”

I can only hope that Tygra’s lack of response was an indication of him realizing its not going to work as a competition, but we’ll see because Tygra has been known to be just as pigheaded about other things. If anything I think Tygra seems genuinely more emotionally invested in who Cheetara is as opposed to just having a girlfriend. I hear soon we are going to see Tygra get pushed to the edge by jealousy I wonder if Cheetara will play a role in that. Either way I hope the striped one doesn’t end up with his ego too bruised.

So I have a theory that next episode will showcase some Cheet-O and its going to top off whatever else is going to be riding Tygra next episode.
Also this is the 2nd to last episode of the first season? Wow. Its not so bad because I know there is tons more to come but poor Cheetara and the twins got almost Zero story. This was 98% the Lion-O show.
Exactly, they aren’t using her as a prize of some competition but are vying for her affection.
I think they are treating it as her choice but more that the ‘competition’ is about which cat can make himself appear as a better suitor for Cheetara. That kind of thing isn’t a bad thing as men compete over vying for women’s affections all the time.
If they did something to ‘take’ away her ability to choose, that would be the more slimeball thing to do.

He seems much more interested in having “a” girlfriend than having Cheetara as a GF.
But I hope Tygra’s jealousy described in next episode’s summary doesn’t involve her. What I mean is, I hopw we don’t have a scene/line like this:
Tygra finds Lion-o and Cheetara sharing, or thinks they’re sharing, and he explodes and yells “you have to take everything away from me, don’t you?!” at Lion-o, because that would only make Cheetara think of him as a jerk that objectifies her and get mad at him.
…I suppose what had me most disappointed was that it was verbalized (and like Ideal and TygraStripes said- horrible word choice). I just thought, y’know, this is an example of things you don’t say out loud. And I know for sure, at least in my corner of the world- females do this as well, just not generally verbally. Oh well. It would probably be hard to find a smooth, palatable way of saying “It’s up to her, but I’m sure it’ll be me.”
Or maybe it could’ve been a combo of vague gestures and speech: like Lion-O nods in her direction “So?..” . Tygra does an eyebrow thing/ lip twist, and Lion-O does a ‘come at me bro’ pose-thing… at least I would have laughed then.
However, I am much more curious to see how this turns out now. Do you guys feel she may start to think Tygra’s interested, or notice/ interact with him more after this ep? Or are a few more signs needed?

Gosh I hope not, it would pant Tygra out to be a jerk and not just a jerk but a self righteous ego manic.
I hope if Lion-O does end up with Cheetara that he’s shown to be attracted to who she is and not just because she happens to be beautiful and female. So far it looks like the latter.
We’ve seen Tygra be chided by Cheetara for his lack of support in Lion-O and be quieted by it, we’ve seen him vocal in his support of her ideas as well, he clearly respects her and is captivated by her in a way that seems unusual for the personality he presented in the premiere, I really expected Tygra to strut around like a tom cat around her after that wink he gave her way back when. He didn’t know her but it looks like now that he’s getting to know her he’s taking this courting thing with a new approach.
I’m almost for sure that Cheetara will end up being a part of the conflict coming up and it’s probably going to stir the pot and make their deeper issues boil over.
But how??? That’s my question; and what has me most concerned on the way its going to be handled. yes, Tygra is an ***, but really, he’s going to loose his cool over a girl that thusfar hasn’t shown an interest in him?..That seems a bit outside the image of him that we’ve been presented with. I’m kinda imagining him being provoked, or what starts as a playful arguement spirals south super quick.
I had the same thought and that maybe Cheetara will be thrown in there somewhere in a long list of problems with one another.
I hope Cheetara gets some story and support soon.
We’ve seen how Cheetara is a big part of Lion-O’s support.
I can imagine she could also be supportive of everyone else in the group. Its seemingly part of her character.
What about her though? Will we ever see her leaning on someone else for support? I can say from personal experience, feeling like you have to be their for everyone else but not having a single soul realize that you need help too can be draining. She may very well end up being everyone’s post, but what about her?
I have a strong suspicion that we wont ever see her in a emotionally taxing position .
What a loss
I don’t see Cheetara and Tygra being as obvious as Lion-O and Cheetara, I see more of a slow low-key development coming with nice moments like we got in Forest of Magi Oar, I’m thinking if Cheetara does find herself interested she’ll play some subtle and not so subtle cat and mouse with Tygra because he’ll need to show he can keep up and be what she wants. She’s probably insightful enough to know a cat like Tygra probably enjoys the chase and would benefit from the journey as well.
I may be wayyyy off base here but just crossing my fingers for it!

Hopefully not a loss we still have time to see what happens, but yup Cheetara is in serious need of some development before we lose her to just ‘hot, butt kicking love interest’. She’s definitely the soccer mom to the kittens and cheerleader on team Lion-O but it would be really nice to see someone be her shoulder and her to have a moment that says ‘i’m beautiful and strong but not made of stone.’ For some reason I’d love that to be if not Tygra, Panthro he just seems like he could sympathize and still be a rock of strength without it being a romantic thing. It’d be nice for them to have that kind of bond as loyal warriors to the throne who could themselves use some support.
And where do you get the idea of that? Where has Lion-O been shown to be that shallow on just getting a girlfriend than genuinly being interested in Cheetara? Lion-O has shown he does genuinly care for Cheetara. The latest episode has a good example of that of when Tygra caught Cheetara from that big fall from Virador’s beak. Lion-O looked really worried then.
Tygra had has his moments of shallowness as well that could make you doubt that he would be genuinly interested in Cheetara. The first episode has him winking at Cheetara when she was in her cleric robes hinting at him being more of a ladies man/flirt but we all know that isn’t true.
Either way, you can’t just say Lion-O is more interested in having ‘a’ girlfriend than having Cheetara as his girlfriend. You gotta admit that both guys are interested in Cheetara herself than just going after her because she is the only woman there.
I agree she does need some development but I doubt we’ll ever see her break down or anything but I can see her getting a bit vulnerable about some mental trauma. The next episode, ‘Into the Astral Plane,’ might cause said astral plane to play mind games on the group and prey upon their insecurities. I.E. for Cheetara, it might mess with her about her guilt about not being able to save Jaga, her own doubts on her own ability to guide Lion-O as well as Jaga would, and/or being the only cleric to survive.
That would be interesting if they just started listing all these things they hate about each other, from a normal conversation, and then suddenly Cheetara’s name pops up. I can imagine the look on her face- total deer-in-headlights ‘wut?’
And to Chique- I thought we got a touch of what she feels when Jaga died, and I actually wouldn’t mind seeing hr intervening between the brothers, just not as a love interest (from her pov). In fact, here’s an example (it’s brief): http://idiosyn.livejournal.com/153584.html
