Aww no big. Yeah, the first time I saw it my jaw kinda dropped and I squealed(just a lil bit tho). Then I watched it again, and sigh, no hug.
The scene accomplished its purpose though- as Urazz said (somewhere up here). We’re talking about it, and we’re seeing ‘some’ development on the other side of the triangle- though it seems a different approach?.. very low-key background kind of build-up or hints?.. like some sort of surprise..?.(I’m totes in favor of audience having Lion-O’s pov, 'It’ll happen! It’ll happen! Aww, it didn’t happen!).

I like the idea of Cheetygra being subtle. Sometimes I (IMPO) think the Lion-O Cheetara scenes are almost too obvious. Like something unexpected will happen and everyone will be shocked to see it go down.
Or the creators could be making it obvious as hell from the get go so that no one can say it came out of no where. Eh.
Really though, if thats the case then why bother with a triangle? Its not like they focus a lot on Tygra anyways, so If he’ lost the girl’ why would anyone (whose not self-admittedly obsessed with him) care?
You are no troll. Yeah, as much as I like Lion-O, I’m really looking for him to get ‘blindsided’. Doesn’t that sound horrible? Wanting the protagonist to have a hope/dream crushed? :eek:
Do you mind if I ask for clarification? Sorry, the brain is working a little slow right now. Do you mind citing an example, or why you think the show is getting to this certain ‘point’?
Personally, I think Cheetara’s ‘flirtations’ with Lion-O are pretty much what put the show on the verge of that point. I guess I shouldn’t say it would anger people but it would lessen people’s opinion of the series.
Huh. Well. Okay. I never would’ve thought about it like that. Perhaps if it actually were more firmly established, I wouldn’t feel like I had to contest it in any way. Kinda like, ‘Oh, that happened; I would’ve rather this happened. Oh well.’ I don’t know, maybe if things were a little more playful/natural feeling between the two like in the premiere, and less like ep 6 where she’s his cheerleader (and reminding me of another certain pairing…) I’d be more onboard. But I don’t particularly dislike L/C…I just like T/C better.
I’ll also agree that I don’t care who ends up with who as long as it’s handled well and the characters grow from it.
The problem I have is that Lion-O already has alot of experience ‘losing’ in the past and doesn’t really need more to overcome it. Tygra was pretty much everyone’s golden boy and always beat Lion-O in the past.
So if anything, I think Tygra is the one that needs to overcome ‘losing’ more than Lion-O and learn some humility.
Tygra is going to start loosing more as Lion-O grows. If you’re a Dragonball Z fan think of them like Lion-O is Goku and Tygra as Vegeta. At the beginning Vegeta was much stronger. When he is introduced Goku can’t defeat him. They only beat him the first time by a hair and Goku didn’t do it alone. But as the show progressed Goku eventually eclipsed him and Vegeta spent the rest of the series playing catch-up.
Anyway my point is Tygra might be the stronger, more skilled brother now, but it’s not going to last. With Lion-O learning and becoming the King he is meant to be Tygra will eventually be second best. I think he will learn enough humility even without Cheetara being factored in.
Yeah, that’s true and I agree that Cheetara won’t really be a factor in Tygra being humbled or if she is, it’ll be minimal while the other reasons will be the focus.
What I was trying to point out that if Cheetara gets with Tygra over Lion-O, it won’t be for the reason so Lion-O has to overcome ‘losing’ like Kameinu mentioned. That is the one thing I think Lion-O doesn’t need because he has pretty much lost to Tygra repeatedly in the past.
Ok, I understand you now Urazz, and I can definitely agree with you. I think also what Kameinu and others would like to see is a taste of realism along with the growth and the journey we’ve watched the take- sometimes no matter how hard you try or how much of an effort you make, things still don’t turn out the way you want in the end.
Personally, I fell that what happened in the past-with this conflict we’re coming upon between the two- is going to be a moot point. From my perspective, it already is. Because everyone that thought Tygra was better is now dead. It’s like something of a clean slate, the reputation the brothers now must build for themselves with new people in a new situation. And Lion-O really is already in the lead. The compassion he demonstrated in the premiere, his willingness to learn about new peoples and technology, to embark on a quest no one else has taken- Lion-O is progressive. Tygra has changed his clothes, took on a gun, but was more or less forced onto the same route as Lion-O. In all honesty, I don’t imagine him as a proponent of diversity and equality had the tragedy not struck their kingdom; he seems a bit more traditional. But there is plenty left to learn about the tiger.
I think Cheetara might take issues if the boys are competing to “win” her. I don’t think she would consider either Lion-O or Tygra if they acted that way around her, so they have to learn to respect Cheetara a bit more. The two of them can’t make their relationship with her just another competition to see who is better, or else she’ll reject them both.
Thoroughly. Royal family or no. If the girl can be fixated on her broken weapon as she free falls through the air, she would definitely whale on the folks she’s supposed to protect if the situation called for it.
Loved tonight’s episode, its a bit surprising to see Tygra’s silent acknowledgement of their mutual interest in Cheetara be mostly silent I really expected after Lion-O’s comment ‘may the best cat win’ Tygra would have something clever/snarky to say, it’s almost as though Tygra recognizes Cheetara’s affections are not something one can win like a contest. His comment about Cheetara believing in Lion-O seemed almost wistful. It was pretty grown up of the tiger to even acknowledge Cheetara may even be looking little brother’s way. Things are gonna get real interesting soon…
I agree with everything you said (interesting you said he sounded wistful- Cheetara does have confidence in Lion-O even before he proves himself- something Tygra wants…an unshakable trust in another?) and Tygra’s reaction to it thusfar makes me feel we’re finally getting some development/dimension for him.
And hey lookie, Lion-O pretty much confirmed it as a competition- at least on his end (not saying that’s his sole motivation, but you get my point).
Yup wistful just seemed the perfect word for it, Tygra’s keeping tabs on the Lion-O/Cheetara situation and seems to know ‘winning’ Cheetara is not going to work the way he ‘wins’ everything else, its ultimately up to Cheetara to have to choose and he may be a bit worried that so far she may already have chosen, it’s a bitter pill of humility. Of course Tygra definitely isn’t out of the question yet, especially with Lion-O’s attitude of treating it as a competition.
This really got to me. I was ready for the snark, and never came. Got me feeling all warm and fuzzy. It gets to me when the Tygra types put down their walls. The whole conversation with Lion-O seemed so naked and real. No clever puns to hide behind. He clearly loves Lion-O, otherwise why encourage him? At the same time his own feelings of jealousy are keeping him from being their 100%.
The way he pointed out Cheetara’s confidence in Lion-O was great. He’s being honest not only with himself, but with Lion-O too. Like some of you have already said, it was wistful. I didn’t think it was entirely romantic. He could have ment, “While I may not be there 100%, she is”. I only thought to really look into it because of Lion-O’s response (That and the mood music, is it the same music from the wink in the premier?) . He apparently heard it all in Tygra voice, and on his face as well.
It was interesting to see Lion-O take it that far. In all honesty it was the only time I thought Lion-O could have gleaned that Tygra may (BIG MAYBE) be interested in Cheetara as well. Even so, it wasn’t a full out confession. He didn’t even say that he was interested. So what have we really seen that Lion-O has also seen that would make him see Tygra as competition? There was the the scene in Berbils, but while I thought it was cute, I dint think it was romantic. Apparently Lion-O did.
I think the next few episodes will be very telling as far as the boy’s motives go. Our last Cheet-O hint was in Journey to The Tower of Omens. Legacy came the week after. Lion-O was rather quick to latch onto Panthara. " I am so dead, at least I have a girlfriend"! He could have been a little less enthusiastic if he had a girl back home that he was really into. IMO, it made it seem like he just really wants a girlfriend. Hey, I think it would be cute to see Lion-O get shot down ( all in humor) by a few chicks, or get overly flustered by them and then meet his perfect match towards the end. I think him being a bit of a goofball would be a nice contrast to Tygra being a bit more relaxed and confident around women.
