Yeah I respect that you don’t want to read about shipping…but if you truly don’t why are you looking at a thread called “love triangles”? lol

As I said, I’m all for shipping, but one has keep an open mind and accept that the pairing they like most did not come to be. Shipping debates are great, they’re tons of fun, specially in a series where Word of God has mentioned the fact that the topic will be touched upon (unlike in other fandoms I belong to where romance is nowhere near the topic in the ongoing continuities) like this one.
And if the ThunderCats fandom has a problem with shipping, it’ll most likely be rabid yaoi fangirls, or rabid I’m shipping my OC with Lion-O/Tygra fangirls. Unless we get a dose of Zutara, despite me likeing that pairing, the fans of it..oh god..
Ive met some crazy rabid Kataangers too. You know, the kind who comment on Zutara fanwork by leaving little notes about how insane and ridiculousness we were for making fanart and fiction for an impossible pairing. That we were just wasting our time. When the finale aired??? My god some people were just trolling like it was Astley last breath.
Cannon or not, if people chose to act maturely about shipping then the overblown CAPS RAGE would stop.
I honestly see very little if any of the problem having to do with cannon or non-cannon. Some people are just jerks, and that goes for every conceivable ship.

As for the NS community , its pretty much all Lion-o/Tygra. (NS community is really small)
Heh. Resident Tumblr addict here! On tumblr its also majority Lion/Tygra . No doubt about it, no questions asked .
Cheetygra and Cheet-O are pretty much evenly divided as far as ORIGINAL fanart goes ( nothing involving stills from the show). Actual pieces tilt towards Lion-o, but number of comments and reblogs are seemingly Tygra.
- Tygra is literally the fandom bicycle, and very popular if not the most popular on Tumblr .
The new fandom loves it some Tygra! - Most of the comments in the tag are negative Lion-O (he doesn’t even have a FC on this board…not that the main character really needs one but an interesting development none the less) ok not most, but more then negative Tygra. No one even talks about Cheetara.
Its funny because most of the people pumping out original fanart are pretty much whatever about the finale outcome. Their just having fun with the request and gags.

I was wondering why you think rabid yaoi fangirls would be a bigger problem for the show than rabid het shippers would.
Zutara is an avatar fan pairing between Zuko and Katara . Very popular despite little solid development. Most fans liked to use overall themes to support this pairing (star crossed lovers, opposites attract, prince and the peasant). Some thought the two looked great together and shipped it based on aesthetics alone.
Though I dont see what referencing Zutara has to do with calling out the yaoi fandom. Ive been staring at a bio book for the last three hours though, so who knows.
I was more a fan of Zuko/Katara than Aang/Katara. Mostly due to the end of the second season. They had way more chemistry. With Aang you could tell he liked her, but it seemed kinda forced at the end that she liked him back. She was pretty much oblivious to him romantically til the very end of the show.
But anyway…we’re talking about Thundercats. lol

Yes, that was definitely deliberate. I like little things like that, as opposed to how it’s done in Young Justice, where all the shippy stuff is too obvious.
I’m glad to see Tygra getting a little attention.
I also thought that was jealousy, and that writers gave a hint about the famous love triangle.
I’m glad of that too. But I’d like to see anohter TC getting the hit from the enymy of turn, just for a change.
Off topic: Tygra isn’t the only one getting hit during fights. Panthro has gone down twice already, once in Journey to the Tower of Omens when Mumm-ra transformed (and the kittens tried to defend him, awww, so cute), and once in this episode when he got glued to the ground by that blob of goo.
On topic: If they keep developing the love triangle this subtly, with Cheetara and Tygra getting closer in the background and Lion-O seething with jealousy in the foreground, it may not turn out to be as horrible as I’ve feared.
Frankly I loved the little hint from last night’s episode. It made the love triangle situation feel realistic and not desperate as fandoms tend to portray the concept.
I know I may be judging to much on a small thing, but the fact that it was inclined towards Tygra, and in such a subtle way, makes me think they won’t make Tygra look bad through this whole ordeal.
Yes and it’s been used in both great and awful fanfics, whether it’s the cannon characters or to add new ones.
