Yes and so was everyone else before Jaga gave them clothes.

Also, I always thought that was due to lazy drawers not wanting to draw and animate all his stripes all the time with eery movement he did

Actually, with OS Jaga, it was the other way around. We never saw him with a shirt on. He had the speedo shorts with a weird bib and a cape.
As much as I love the idea of Lion-o and Cheetara together, can we not bring Shipping in to Thundercats. In every fandom I go to that has shipping in it, the shipping ruins the Fandom. Lets enjoy the show and what ever happens Cheetra and Lion-o, Cheetara and Tygra, or she ends up being by herself. Can we not go down this road.
Sorry sincerly I didn’t know mentioning a pairing by a name wasn’t okay it didn’t think anyone here would become a rabid crazy shipper about it. I felt like we were all mature enough to joke about funny shipper name ideas without going off the deep end. Was I wrong?
It always happens with out fail, in every fandom I have been in. I would hate to see it happen here.

They could have gone the OS direction and had very limited to no romance at all.
But they wont.
They’ve been in the business for a while now and know how the fandom approaches romance.
Instead of having Lion-o/Cheetara be the only potential couple, they chose to incorporate a love triangle.
IMO, there setting up the ring and handing out the gloves.
In all honesty what fandom have you been apart of that didnt have a big dose of shipping in it? Heck the OS had almost no romance, yet Ive run into fans of both CheeLion-o and Cheetygra .
Thundercats has been around for over 25 years. Shipping has been in the fandom already for a long, LONG time.
Though I do, personally, find those combination names a little annoying.
I guess it must cause I’m new to the online fandom. I rather not see a Shipping war come here.
Sadly that is not possible. Fans have to rage over a little fact that really has nothing to do with the topics that run the story.
I’m all for shipping, but this isn’t what TCats is about. So I get where you’re coming from.
I myself tend to be more of a tygra/cheetara fan, but I don’t get upset with people who like liono/cheetara, its really just a tv show. If we’re mentioning the triangle I think it’s only inevitable that the pairings are mentioned, you know we don’t have to turn into crazies about it, mature discussion on pairings is possible, been there done it and it didn’t end in anyone challenging anyone else in a duel to defend said pairings honor!
But I’ll be quiet now if its a touchy subject…

Frankly, when treating shipping in an ongoing series, one has to keep an open mind, maybe yor OTP or whatever won’t come to be. But if one of the participating characters ends up with someone, hey, atleast be happy that character is happy.
Off the subject slightly I’m just thankful for the slow build to whatever is going to happen with the show as a whole, it’s feeling like opening a big novel and going page by page until it’s a chapter then a book and so on and so on as opposed to TOS where it almost was like a Creature Feature of the Week and relationships were not really explored but I definitely got the feeling of there being a lot of backstory especially between Cheetara and Tygra and Tygra and Panthro, they seemed to share a special bond at times, would have loved to learn more about how that came to be. Still in love with TOS after years and years but there is a sense of a natural build to the new series that I’m falling for. So either way the triangle goes I feel like the creators will get it feeling natural and progressive without it becoming a major focal point.

I’m not usually one who uses smush-names for pairings, but I can’t stop myself from thinking of Lion-O/Cheetara as Cheet-O.
As for the can-we-please-not-ship-in-the-Thundercats-fandom issue, I think making people not ship is neither possible nor fair to the people who actually enjoy shipping in fandom. Shipping heightens the fandom experience for a lot of people. You can always choose not to ship and not to get involved in shipping wars. I’ve done both in several different fandoms. I’ve only experienced shipping actually ruining a fandom for me once, and that’s only because there’s so much discussion and fanworks for the most popular pairing that finding anything that doesn’t revolve around that pairing is nearly impossible. I doubt that will become a problem in the Thundercats fandom.
