Seems to em theis episode will be a “homage” to OS’ “Return to Thundera”, where Lion-o was transported by the time machine in time and space to Thundera to get the plans to that giant Mutant robot, while the others wondered where was he.
So, this is what I don’t want to see: while Lion-o is inside the book, Slithe and the lizard men attack the TCs and almost defeat them, only for Lion-o to get out of the book a the last minute and save the day. If this show will be any different from the OS, then I expect the TCs to be able to save their butts on their own and not depend on Lion-o and the sword all the time
Yes, the sword is cool but they must’n over do it.
They must survive by themselves, how they will do it is why I look the program if is always the sword why to look.
I am definitely getting that same feeling as well. When I saw the YouTube teaser, the first thing I thought was, oh, this is going to be much like Return to Thundera. Like I said in the MTV Geek spoiler thread, I like where this is going because it gives the audience a glimpse of Thunderian history and how peace and prosperity was achieved.
Someone here speculated that the flashback might’ve taken place in Brimstar, which has me thinking about what planet these scenes are taking place in, since it’s apparent that this isn’t Third Earth.
Apologiese if this has been pointed out and I missed it, but the pic with Mum-Ra holding the sword seems to have the book of Omens in it as well, so did Mum-Ra own everything the Tcats hold dear??
I feel that Lion-O being astral-projected inside the Book of Omens is better then his being bodily transported into it; it makes more sense. And it did faintly occurr to me at the end of last week’s story that the little green ball of light was Jaga’s life-force taking up residence inside the Book. I wonder if the ghosts of those previous Clerics are there and if Lion-O will meet them as well?
Anybody else notice that Jaga says"far beyond the skys of thundera" which makes me think that some other planet is going to come into the story, maybe even the flash back is on another planet???
Over time, many fan fictions (including my own) have started Thunderan society on Earth, and later had all or some of the people migrate off-world. It is a grand tradition, and nothing really new.
Ocelli’s and my idea was that the Mutants at least might have originated on Earth; that their ancestors were taken by aliens in the distant past to be genetically engineered as shock troopers for a planned invasion that never happened, as the race that made them had died out. (with the reveal being that it would have tied into “The War of the Worlds”). And the Thunderians, on the other hand, just happened to evolve along the same lines as terrestrial cats.
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if the big reveal turned out to be that all the animal races on Third Earth were actually the result of some massive genetic experiment in the very distant past and that they were all sent to that planet for some reason. There seem to be subtle clues here and there in dialogue that seem to be pointing that way at least. As long as they don’t show us the ruins of the Statue of Liberty at the end!
I’ve theorized this premise as plausable but I don’t like that it kind of elevates Mumm-Ra to godlike status. I’d prefer it if Mumm-Ra came from an advanced species or just had access to knowledge that others don’t from the Ancient Spirits of Evil instead. He is better suited as a master manipulator-- not a creator.
Yes I know. That was the Thundarian time capsule and this episode does seem to pay homage to it. But I am talking about when Lion-O entered the Book of Omens many various times near the end of the series. It became a commonly used plot device.
