Honestly it’s not too far removed from the Book of Omens from TOS.

That all looks great–though I’m not going to lie it would be nice to get a wider variety of pics (not complaining or anything!), because right now I don’t get the feeling we’ll see any of the other Thundercats.
Hopefully that’s not the case.

I never thought the second king was Leo. They look nothing alike.
Until we get an official name (if we ever do) I’m calling the second king Lionidas, because puns are awesome.

I like flashbacks though, my problem is that we get to much flashbacks but almost no moving forward in the actual story.
We get to know about their past before we even know the characters we are FOLLOWING.

That was exactly the problem I had with Lost: too much time spent on the flashbacks which ultimately had little to do with what was happening on the island and were holding-up the main story taking place there (i.e. when Desmond was introduced, the episode spent about 65% of the time in flashbacks introducing him when maybe only about 35% was necessary). I bailed on Lost sometime around the 3rd season when it appeared to me that the writers just simply didn’t know what they were doing and spending way too much time on flashbacks. Looking back, I’m glad that I didn’t stick with the show, else I REALLY would have been ****ed-off by the finale!:mad:
It got really annoying when, after Lost became successful, almost every other show started copying it. Ultimately I think it just became a crutch for lazy writing. Fortunately it fell out of favor soon after Lost went off the air and producers began to realize that over-reliance on it annoyed people (as an example, The Event started out using flashbacks for its first several episodes, then dropped it when they seemed to realize that they weren’t all that necessary).
I don’t think though that the new Thundercats really dwells on them that much; only using them when it’s appropriate (i.e. how Panthro and Grune met and what they were doing all that time searching for the Book of Omens, as how it ultimately led to Mumm-Ra being freed).
In this episode’s case I think the flashbacks will be necessary for Lion-O an company to know what to do next. They’ve found the book so they’ve finished the mission Jaga sent them on. They need to know where to go from there. It doesn’t seem to me to be a flashback just for the sake of having a flashback because Lion-O will be actively finding out the knowledge this time.
You are right, it is flashback but they will get something from it. Knowledge and that is power.
At least it won’t be another prequel, when the writers have no idea how to advance the story, they do prequels, and a prequel to prequel.:lionomad:
