definitely agree. these rumors don’t seem logical regarding the information we have received on the status of the thundercats series.
I second that and will wait for something more official.
To answer the actual main topic, I think that Lion-O’s personality is important. In the new series, it may have seemed like the people around him could have been less than spectacular, but I think that Lion-O still remained hopeful in some sort of way. All of the questions at the beginning of this thread make me wonder about Lion-O’s character strengths (darn positive psychology class!). Also, I wonder if Lion-O’s personality makes him more likely to be resilient.
In regards to the source of the second season information, I noticed that at first, people became very hopeful. After more than two people questioned the source, however, more forum members became increasingly cynical and critical. Although criticizing the source is important, I personally thought that when the person willingly posted the information and the person’s online information, it made the person who posted the information more credible. Nevertheless, I loved it when the information gave the forum members hope. ![]()
I’m still waiting on that official announcement from CN.
(I’m just going along with the “spoilers”) If Cheetara is to get back with Lion-O, that’d be fine with me, as long as it’s portrayed well. BUT…considering Tygra and Pumyra were the ones who stayed behind in the OS on Third Earth, it wouldn’t be impossible for them to have a relationship if Pumyra returns to being good. I’m not trying to be a ridiculous shipper, but people seem to think the situation for Tygra is hopeless without Cheetara.
personally, i don’t favor both Tygra and Cheetara, well i kinda liked pre relationship Cheetara because she actually had a role in the group and Tygra is a jerk for no reason most of the time. i somewhat understand some of the people not liking the idea of Cheetara jumping back and forth between the brothers especially after Tygra whined and nearly killed liono because of his jealous tendencies. if Cheetara flips back to liono, i honestly don’t know how fans of tygra and the series will take it. there is also a possibility the writers could make a Liono and Cheetara relationship work while not completely ruining Tygra’s character but if the writers final pairing was to be Liono and Cheetara, they definitely went about it the wrong way from the start.
Well, whatever happens now comes into the form of “I just don’t care anymore what happens to the show OR what would happen IN the show.”
I could’ve sworn I’d put in a post on this thread…Well, anyhow, I heard that Genndy Tartakovsky was thinking of rebooting SBT.
I’m excited about that too, having recently got into that show (thanks, Toonami!) and I do hope it comes back. I’m still hopeful these rumors about the second season are true.
Genndy Tartakovsky can’t do a reboot of SBT until he gets the rights back from CN/WB. From what I’ve read, he’s been in a legal battle over ownership since he walked out on CN and went to Sony Pictures Animation.
Speaking of which, if you haven’t had a chance to see Genndy’s feature film Hotel Transylvania, I highly recommend it.
Of course I’ve seen that movie. And I did say he was THINKING about it.
Merged Post:
All the same, I REALLY could’ve sworn I put a post on this thread ages ago! Stupid short-term memory gaps!
Not a problem. Me, I’d love it if he were able to get the rights back from CN so he could bring SBT to Sony and get working on a new series or a continuation.
I thought it took a lot of class for him to stick to his guns and walk out on CN when they axed SBT.
Once Young Justice ends I think everyone should leave CN.![]()
Way ahead of you there, and so are a ton of people on Facebook.
sigh Oh yeah, ditto. Especially since more fans of Man of Action’s work, including me, want Generator Rex more than Ben 10.
Especially when the new Ben 10 series is really bad and I was just getting into Generater Rex right before they cancelled it.
It wasn’t entirely cancelled. It was just taken off the air, but luckily MoA managed to finish it.
Somewhere along the lines this thread got off track and became discussion thread about various other things. But, if i could just get every back on track by reposting my original post
I just have to get all of this out: how can Lion-O still find it in his heart to be nice to anybody?
He has a mother he never knew, a father who expected nothing but perfection from him, a brother who never once hesitated to give him a hard time, and he lived among a kingdom of people who had little to no respect for him. How can even still care for his father, his father obviously favor Tygra, you’d think Lion-O would hate Claudus by now.
And just when it seemed like he found someone who (possibly) could’ve understood him, it turns out he was just getting the wrong idea. I still think that Cheetara was at fault here too, i mean, think about it: if it was obvious that Cheetara didn’t like Lion-O, then why did Tygra and the Kittens all think the same thing? If Tygra was so much smarter than Lion-O, shouldn’t he have been able to figure out what was going on? Yet everyone is saying that it was just Lion-O getting the wrong idea.
Furthermore, as i said earlier, people who should be giving him respect, treat him like dirt: Panthro, Grune, the Wilys, those Alley Cats from the pilot, those Cats who torturing the lizards, they all had little to no respect for him. If Tygra approached those Cat groups, they would’ve done exactly what he said, if Tygra spoke to Panthro, he wouldn’t have insulted him. Personally, if i were Lion-O, i would’ve just forgotten about the other Cats, since it was obvious that i owed them nothing. I mean, Lion-O didn’t destroy Thundera, and his people never made him feel like royalty, what does he owe any of them? Answer: nothing!
Claudus never had any trouble commanding respect either, no one ever talked back to him, no one. Yet he allows his son to be treated like dirt by everyone.
Even in current times, everyone is still expecting Lion-O to be perfect. Whenever Lion-O comes up with a plan, everybody thinks it’s flawed, yet whenever Tygra or Cheetara comes up with a plan, it must be a good one because it didn’t come from Lion-O. Everyone gave Lion-O a hard time about getting revenge on Mumm-Ra, yet nobody gave Panthro a hard time about getting revenge on Grune.
Not even Mumm-Ra’s forces think Lion-O is qualified to be king. Mumm-Ra, Slithe, Grune, and virtually all the Lizards have all insulted Lion-O in some way and said that he was a fool and unfit to lead.
Finally, i’d say Pumyra was the proverbial last straw. All Lion-O wanted to do was help her and she nearly killed in response. This even continued after she was freed, if i were Lion-O, i would’ve just left her for the Lizards to kill in Mount Plun-Darr. And stopping Mumm-Ra from getting the SoP would have certainly have been more of a good idea than saving an insulting Cat like Pumyra.
And let’s not forget what happened in “Recipe for Disaster”, Tygra thought Lion-O was setting himself to get shot down, again. That implies that he thinks Lion-O should stay alone, that doesn’t sound very supportive to someone who recently got his heartbroken, and Cheetara just blew it off.
Now, given that Pumyra has revealed her true colors, i wouldn’t blame Lion-O if didn’t stop until that traitorous Puma was a stain on his sword. The worst part of it is, Tygra and the others are probably just gonna treat the whole betrayal like it had no effect on Lion-O at all, paying his aching broken heart no mind.
I repeat my question: how can Lion-O still manage to be the nice guy after all that? After what he’s been through, you’d think he’d be as cold and detached as he briefly was in “Ramalak Rising”. Hardly anyone he’s met has proven themselves worthy of his kindness. And the worst part of it is that, after what happened in Avista, he’s probably feeling like he will never find true love, at least not from another of his own kind, and the others don’t even care about how he feels.
I don’t think Lion-o was that nice to start with. He was about to abandon two kids, haven’t it been for Tygra and Cheetara, and the kittens themselves. Nobody expected Lion-o to be perfect, but they did expect him to be a leader, which he was supposed to be.
Again, he’s been mean to Tygra as much as Tygra has been to him, if not more. And he’s been awful to Cheetara as well.
About his mother, yes he lost her without not even knoeing her; I’m not sure that’s worse than losing her after having known her like Tygra, who somehow lost her twice, first emotionally to Lion-o, and then physically (real death). And stop saying Claudus preferred and favored Tygra, that was never shown like that in the series. He even said Lion-o would be a great king, he never said that to Tygra, did he?
About Cheetara not being interested on him and misleading him, you might be right there. But if Tygra didn’t figure it out, don’t you think he might have been blinded by jealousy and insecurity? Those could cloud anybody’s judgement.
Lion-O wasn’t initially nice to the kittens, cos he was still plagued with thoughts of revenge towards Mumm-Ra for killing Claudus (If anything, maybe Mumm-Ra was indeed skulking around to get Lion-O to think like this on purpose, so that he could get a Cat aka Pumyra on his side). It was also this train of thought that blocked his mind to anything related to empathy and tact, notably a dying Pumyra trapped under Thunderian rubble.
And Cheetara, yes his pride was stung when she chose Tygra, but she could have at least let him know that she was as much to blame for his crush on her as she was for her communication skills and could have reassured him that they could still be friends. Also, that was still no reason for her to give up her cleric mantle for love, cos she was supposed to be dutiful to her King no matter. Even if Tygra was still the King of her heart, some villain-thumping would have saved Tygra from Slythe and co in “New Alliances.”
As for Tygra, ever since Lion-O was born and the Queen died, he’s been subtly taking out his anger on Lion-O for the loss of his adoptive mother and kingdom, by besting him at everything and ridiculing him. This is definitely the cause of most of Lion-O’s insecurity. Plus, Tygra didn’t really lose the Queen emotionally, cos she still loved him. It’s just that she was disappointed to not be able to call him her “handsome little prince.” You don’t need to have a kingdom to be loved, just family. Which is why a sincere little word like “darling” is enough, IMHO, to warm up a heart.
I do agree with you about Claudus though. He didn’t entirely favour one over the other. He loved Tygra cos he was more of a model prince-in-training than Lion-O was, but he loved Lion-O, because there was potential in him, the SoO responded to him, he was always himself in any sitch and (maybe) he saw much of his late wife in him.
So, overall, I can say that Lion-O is just as normal a Cat as every other Cat. He is NOT perfect, because at heart, he’s very very good, but when on the brink of the dark side, he can be revengeful, if not immature. And now that his heart has been broken twice, he will have to be a whole new Cat. I know, cos I can relate to him quite a bit. Just my opinion, that’s all.
