it would have been cool if they had gone with the Four Horsemen’s original design four He-Man it would have been far better as he looked a lot like King Greyskull and a lot more Barbaric.
he should have just tied it around his waist it would of made sense. and LOL you used screenshots from the Silky Episode. Poor Tygra got addicted to poppys.
Also me seeing the Thundercats destroy mumm-ra’s pyramid just ticked me off especially when they acted all like they were ridding the people on the planet from years of oppression. Hey cats, Mumm-Ra wasn’t a problem until YOU arrived. sorry I just had to mention that. It just annoyed me. I still think Mumm-Ra should have won at the end of the five parter.
Be thankful there wasn’t a Thundercats cartoon and toyline in the 90’s. Or we would have been in bright neon colours. ![]()
I always thought Tgra should have had a more brownish/orange or deeper green outfit.
Yes I agree about the layers. A bit like some wrestlers outfits. I always thought wrestling tights were just one piece but they are actually three pieces. There is the tights, with matching trunks on top along with matching knee pads. If you study Shawn Michaels’ (right) tights you should see what I mean.

So.. magic pants then? XD
Here is Tygra’s. Unfortunately it does not detail where the bolo whip is kept.

Thanks adssse!
I am guessing you really love the tiger, don’t you?
I did, but most of all I wanted to know where he kept his bolowhip.
I liked Tygra from the start (his design first, then his personality, powers and weapon), and was so mad about how they treated him during throughout the series, to the utter humiliation of writing him off, even form the final episode.
I think that’s one reason I didn’t like Bengali, despite not finding a reason for his introduction and his character at all. I think writers considered Tygra wasn’t a fan favorite (although I have found many fans of Tygra through the years), but decided a tiger was needed as one of the most representative big cats, so bring a new tiger, younger and more impulsive for the fans to like it. Not me. Also, I think Lynx-O was also somehow a replacement for him as the “wise” one. With Bengali being the new tiger, and Lynx-o being the new wise one, Tygra slowly faded to the background. But unlike Bengali, I did like Lynx-O, he was interesting (at least at the beginning, then the whole “smart/useful despite being blind” thing tired me off).
I think I always liked Tygra because I identified myself with him, and I think many people did. I mean, not everybody is already to jump into a fight like Lion-O, Panthro, Cheetara or Benagli, and writers didn’t consider those persons who liked and identified with a quieter character.
I like Lynx-O quite a bit. The writers did seem to over emphasize his disability at times, but I really thought he was a great addition to the show. I really think Pumyra could have been a great addition as well if they would have emphasized her healing abilities more. To me she had a lot of potential!
I have found that I have grown to like and appreciate Tygra more as I have gotten older. I think as a child I found him somewhat boring but now identify with him very much.
I got this weird headcanon that after everyone else left third earth tygra and pumyra got together and started having kids. (if you ignore the comics anyway). Though I alkways figured bengali and her were a thing and tygra and cheetera were a thing. Lion-O and Willa should have been a thing.
I think introducing Pumyra and Lynx-O would have been enough. I think they could have been part of the original team and I might have liked them as well, a team of nine (representing the 9 lives a cat is said to have). As I said, I never see a point for Bengali (other than replacing Tygra with a younger, more impulsive tiger).
Pumyra, as you said, had a lot of potential, despite being another adult female TC. She was nice and a healer and, as Tygra and unlike Cheetara, not rushing into fights. I think of the three new TCs I liked her the most and she also was wasted and mistreated. Had she been there from the strat, she could have been a little younger (a late teen maybe?), and her annontment trial could have been based on agilty. Lynx-O was a great introduction IMO, but as I said, his “plot” tired me at last. He could have joined brains with Tygra. His trial could have been in senses (Lion.o having to get out or solve something in a dark place, for example).
I know lot of people get to like Tygra as they grow up… too bad the writers (allegedly grown-ups lol) didn’t see it.
I honestly didn’t start watching this cartoon until a few weeks ago so I did not grow up with anybody. I am currently watching the series side by side with the reboot so yeah I make my opinion on them both as I go along. so nostalgia blindness or anything.
That being said my feelings toward characters as of now is pretty in and out. Of course Mumm-Ra is the best character in the show but I like some of the thundercats a lot as well. Panthro (hello grandpa huxtable!) Pumyra and Cheetara. I know most people think snarf is annoying but I think he’s ok. also his interactions with mumm-ra in episodes is pretty funny. “war wound? WHAT WAR?!” Lynx-O is ok. he’s got a nice design, and the twins are entertaining when pitted against the mutants. I like bengali’s design because well I love white tigers. Tygra is a bit of a mystery though I feel bad for him for being the designated victim all the time.
To be very honest Lion-O is my least favorite thundercat. His voice makes me think of captain falcon and the sword of omens well that thing is just one huge macguffin. Sometimes it feels like some of the uses it has are just to get the cats out of a situation the writers could think of a logical way of fixing in any other way. I am still sore about the whole “sword of omens replaces the gyroscope” thing. Like seriously?!
My current avatar basically sums up how I felt about THAT.
In Tygra’s defense, he’s not the designated victim ALL the time, it’s just the times he’s been had stood out (“Garden of Delights”, “Trouble with Time”, “Fireballs of Plun-Darr”, “Turmagar the Tuska”, “Crystal Canyon”, “Mossland Monster”) lol
Most of times he’s been as victim as any other TC (“Mongor”, “Safari Joe”, “Dimension Doom”, “Snarf Takes the Challenge”, “Mad Bubbler”, etc).
Sometimes, like in “Spitting Image”, another TC was the victim (Panthro), but I guess Tygra was the only victim more often than any other character.
But he gets to kind of save the day sometimes (“Pumm-Ra”, “Out of Sight”, “Wolfrat”), just not as heroicly as the others did. He even saved Cheetara sometimes (“ThudnerCats Ho!”, “Divide and Conquer”), so he had his moments. It’s just fans remember more his lows than his highs lol.
technically in garden of delights he was HERO and VICTIM. he was the one who was on drugs (i am sorry but seriously that fruit was trippin’) but he did save the day with willa’s help.
also you forgot the super power potion where he was also the victim. weirdly enough that episode makes me LOL so hard.
I think I read in Hear The Roar that peter Lawrence didn’t like the character and had no interest writing for him.
What cartoons did you grow up watching?
digimon, beast wars, the 2000s godzilla cartoon, metabots, most fox animated tv shows, early CN cartoons along with dubs for some of those really old anime cartoons like speed racer and g-force which were aired on CN when it was still new. Lots of hannah barbara cartoons. I was born in the late 80s so I missed out on the 80s cartoons.
I only discovered thundercats existed due to somebody’s avatar on DA which I thought was Ravage from transformers and some music video on youtube which had all the villains from the 80s cartoons singing a rap song together.
Yes, in “Garden of Delights” he was both, as he was strong enough to overcome the addiction. But I’d have wanted him to save the other TCs himslef.
About “Superpower Potion”, Panthro was as much a victim as Tygra, as was Snarf ![]()
You mean Tygra? Peter Lawrence is lame then lol
Cool. I was born in the mid 80’s but a lot of older cartoons were shown on TV here in Northern Ireland long after they had finished. ![]()
