Absolutely right, Just because Claudus desires Lion-O to take his duties as seriously as Tygra does that doesn’t mean he actually favors one son over the other. Even if Lion-O thought his father was just a hard-ass he still craved his love and approval, perhaps especially because he didn’t have a mother growing up and his older brother seemed to take special delight in keeping him down. It’s also true that one good moment isn’t enough to make up for seventeen years of bad blood, but it’s enough to send him on an emotional rollercoaster that causes him to ignore the last clear instruction he got.
That’s just plain BS. There is NO indication that Lion-O had anything but a normal happy childhood. Heck he was allowed to slack off all the freaking time with no punishment. He had a Brother who he fought with and a Father who was disappointed in him? well join the freaking club. That’s hardly anything that’s out of the ordinary for anyone.
Lion O had it all…he was just very immature to realize what he had..There’s also the issue of him trying to find his identity..of which he clearly has many doubts about himself being king in the trials. The Pit will show a changed Lion O..who now has more confidence to take charge.
The reality is that Both Tygra and LionO would have made great Kings…but this is Lion Os story..and he has to overcome his demons and believe in himself…This isn’t about a bad childhood..the dude was a rich handsome prince..with people who cared for him, who lived in a palace and was to inherit the throne of thundera. The guy had it all..he was just afraid of taking the responsibility.
Pretty much, yeah. I don’t think he nessecarily had it easy all the time because a lot was expected of him and rather than pursue the approved royal studies he spent time walking the slums and dissecting technology instead but there doesn’t seem to be anything too terrible about it other than not having a mother and a brother who’s a bit of a d***.
Likewise I don’t think Tygra’s childhood was so terrible either. Yes his mother died, that is sad, and he lost the crown to Lion-O, but that’s the law and there’s nothing either of them could do about that, but he didn’t have to live up to anything either so when he succeeds he’s praised, but if he fails no one cares.
In short their childhoods were pretty typical for royalty. Yes they fight but that’s what brothers do, and there’s no doubt they love each other through it all.
I don’t understand the negativity toward Bengali. Yeah he replaced Tygra in the OS but that should be attributed to poor writing and merchandising over story. Don’t let the character’s role in the OS bias your feeling or perception in the NS. Plus consider how each character has been re-imagined (sorry for stealing a Disney term) and I would say hold off until he makes an appearance. Saying that, personally I found him one of the more interesting characters in the OS, it was his unpredictability, hot-headiness and outsider background that drew my attention.
Also while speculation on pairings makes a nice topic for discussion (and disagreement), just remember how the entire L/C thing went down… All this hope for a L/P relationship seems premature given what little was said or implied in the spoilers. For all we know the writers could be screwing with everyone and they go back to Mount Plunn-Darr and everyone discovers a B/P relationship.:o
There’s no negativity with Bengali here..or Lynxo (you forgot to mention him)…but I stand by my comments on how fitting in the main group just wouldn’t work for Bengali and Lynxo.. I think these characters are better served as a supporting cast..that are frequently involved in the lives of the thundercats team..but not always present. It also helps expand the world of thundera a bit as well.
I understand you are a fan of Bengali..and that can bring Bias to wanting a character you love have more screen time..I’m sure that the creators have a great deal planned for the character as well. If he is in the team..it doesn’t bother me none, and i actually would look forward to seeing how they expand on his character..but personally I just feel Bengali and Lynxo would be better off out of the team.
In the Last Airbender the addition of the new character Toph to the team was not only done to add another female member to the group that could counter Katara’s character.. but to help the main protagonist Aang move forward in his skills as a bender..
Then there were the large number of recurring supporting characters like Yuki and Princess Yui, and so many others that appeared for episodes at a time when the group needed their help. They never just “disappeared” after one episode..they always came back..they all had a purpose for the story. The supporting cast expanded the world of the avatar and made it even more believable. I exclude the addition of Zuko in the group mainly because Zuko was always a main character in the series…he always had a spot in the group..
Pumyra is the Thundercats Toph character..in that she will probably be the opposite of what Cheetara is…from the looks of it she has a temper,..and maybe has in issue with trust..being a slave to dogs can do that to you I guess.
This is not about shipping, if thats what you are implying..i mentioned Pumyra as a possible love interest for Lion O with “if its true” in parenthesis. Because if she is a love interest for the main protagonist, she will play a huge part in Lion O’s story development..and yeah that definitely would solidify her as a more permanent member of the team.
Pumyra is the sixth ranger.

What do you mean Lion-O has nothing? Sure, he never got to meet his mom, but that happens to a lot of people. We don’t know what his relationship was like with his father. People grow up fine with just one parent all the time. What we got to see of it, Claudus was trying to get Lion-O to be serious about becoming king, and he wasn’t getting the reaction he wanted from his son. So we saw them in a specific situation. No idea where you got the idea that his people hate him. We saw a mob that wanted to abuse prisoners, he stood in the way, mobs don’t like that. What does Tygra only calling him your majesty only once have anything to do with anything. You make it sound like his life sucked. If it did Lion-O would be completely different from who he is now.
I think we’ll learn more about Pumyra in “The Curse of Ratilla,” “The Pit” is just her introduction. She has to stick around, she has a proper name (not a vague title) that’s even mentioned in the synopsis and she’s from the old show. They’re not going to just drop her.
Okay, I’m officially looking forward to this one and I’m starting to wonder if CN is fishing in my imagination. :sneaky:
I don’t understand why they wouldn’t keep her. It seems like it’d be a huge letdown if they just gave her one episode. I was already sad that Lynx-O didn’t do anything else, but hopefully he and Bengali will come in during later episodes.

No, they don’t! I just meant its be terrible if they only gave her one episode. In other words, she should stay with the cats, and from what I’ve heard she does.
They would have made more episodes of her if she didn’t join the team.

Unfortunately Airspeed (the lovely lad providing the information) didn’t have his camera available like he did for “New Alliances.” He apparently doesn’t record the show either, but his information thus far has been fairly reliable.
Oh well guess will see her Saturday unless someone got a picture and post it somewhere else.
Michael Jelenic said in an interview a while back that Pumyra was going to have a few episodes dedicated to her. So she’ll be around for a while. But that doesn’t necessarily mean she’ll be a permanent part of the team.
