But that would be too easy, wouldn’t it? I like a little drama in shows, and although your theory is fine, it seems a little dull. I definitely want there to be a relationship, but if anyone is going to have to fight for it, it’s Pumyra because Lion-O won’t be as careless this time around.

Wow really? I would’ve hated it if she immediately fell for him. I think it’s perfectly reasonable and expected that some of the Cats that escaped would feel like Lion-O has let them down (even if he didn’t really have any other options). They’ve been enslaved and they have no idea where their ruler, who is supposed to protect them, is nor what he is doing.
Lion-O WILL have to prove himself to his people just like he has to prove himself to every other race. It was said from the start that the people of Thundera didn’t think he would be a good ruler. To think they would all just blindly follow him is, imo, completely unrealistic and irrational.
The writers aren’t making things easy for Lion-O and they shouldn’t make things easy for him.
See, that’s just what i’m talking about. Nobody’s on Lion-O’s side, everyone thinks Tygra should be in charge, everyone thinks Lion-O’s unworthy. Personally, if i were in Lion-O’s shoes, I might have been tempted to side with Mumm-Ra, no one of his own kind seems to want him.
They couldn’t even give us a time when it became clear that Tygra couldn’t lead his kingdom out of a paper bag, no, they had to make it so Tygra was the better choice.
And don’t even try to make it seem like Claudus believed in him, you say he did, but from what i saw, Claudus had little to no faith in Lion-O (a fact that Lion-O even said himself). They all blamed him for the Lizard’s attack and don’t even bother to apologize for doubting him when it turned out that Technology not only existed, but it also served as Thundera’s downfall.
Personally, i more or less preferred the OS, true Lion-O didn’t assert his authority as much as he does now, but at least no one questioned it or tried to make him feel unworthy.
Bottom line is, I really feel sorry for this incarnation of Lion-O, he never had to go through this in the OS
Both Jaga and Cheetara believed in him and I’ve seen no evidence that Panthro or the Twins would prefer Tygra either. Saying everyone is against Lion-O is just plain incorrect.

Wily Kit and Kat encountered a thief even better than them, he steals some of their things and they try to take it back from him, and he has this amazing power to forsee ways where he ends up with whatever he wants to steal. It is hard to explain what the power is. They ultimately help him to steal something by accident, he uses them to make a big steal.
Cheetara and Tygra really do nothing in the episode as far as I can remember, they make a few comments about events, but nothing really of interest.
Yes they did show a flashback, they (PANTHRO AND A DOG CHARACTER) were both forced to fight in the pit, usually as a team as the crowd loves to see a dog and cat being forced to work together. At some stage before a fight Panthro escaped (because he heard the next fight was against the dog), he only lets him know this when the dog asks why he left him.
Also the dog guy eventually rose up through the ranks to become in charge of The Pit, Pumyra is his slave if I remember correctly.
No I did not get a pic of pumyra, I did not have my camera close to hand when the episode was on.
The Episode ends with Pumyra telling Lion-o that there are other cats enslaved in Mount Plundar, I think Lion-O is set on freeing them.

Lion-O IS proving himself, not just to his own people, but to all of Third Earth. I wouldn’t be surprised if we find out in a later episode that stories are circulating of this band of cats led by a Lion who defend the defenseless and help the helpless. Don’t forget that the Drifter is still out there returning the swords taken by the Duelist. I’m sure he’s spreading the story as he goes.
It is Lion-O’s altruism that makes him a hero. He helps other people and eexpects nothing in return, and that is just as powerful a tool as fear, which is what Mumm-Ra and his forces rely on.
Yes, Pumyra is initially angry with him, thinking he abandoned his people, but once she understands the truth she is instantly with him, and I’m sure that in future episodes she’ll be one of his strongest supporters.
Just to clarify this ..Pumyra changes her opinion of Lion O because he proves himself a true leader to follow…and not because she “likes” him in a romantic sense..that would be insulting to her character.
I love the fact that someone already compared Lion O to Jesus..LOL!!! Tygra will deny him 3 times…LOL!
So I’m guessing this Ratilla guy is in charge of Mount Plun-dar? Maybe the next episode will see Lion-O trying to free the slaves and Pumyra starting to like him more, maybe the two of them go off together.
That may be, but this is just how i feel regarding such things: Lion-O’s life has been one problem and issue after another. I mean, think about it:
Tygra was the heir to a Tiger Clan and was then taken by Claudus and his wife, who treated him like one of their own ever since. True, he lost his adopted mother, but at least he had good memories of her to look back at. He even still has good memories of his relationship with Claudus.
Cheetara was taken in by Jaga and obviously has some good memories of him to look back on
True, Panthro hates Grune for what he did, but at least they had some good times and it’s pretty obvious that Panthro was close friends with Claudus.
Wily Kat and Wily Kit may have lived on the streets for a while, but they at least had some happy times with their parents and siblings.
But what about Lion-O? He has nothing! He never knew his mother, he was always on the outs with his father, no one in the kingdom liked him and his only real long lasting relationship was with Snarf. True, Jaga tried to be nice, but that’s hardly as good as he was to Cheetara. Bottom line: Lion-O has no past connections, no good times to look back on and is an outcast in his own family.
Sure, Cheetara says she believes in him, but that hardly makes up for years of being shunned by his own “subjects”.
Tygra called him “Your Majesty” once, that hardly makes up for years of making fun of him and trying to outdo him
Claudus said Lion-O made him proud, that hardly makes up for years of favoring Tygra and doubting his real son’s abilities
It just now occurred to me, In “The Curse of Ratilla” what if Lynx-O is among the slaves kept in Mount Plun-Darr and after Lion-O’s attempt to free them he’s the only one they manage to save/willing to follow. Somehow in the course of the episode the Sword of Omens is broken and they have to seek out the blacksmith Bengali to repair it in “The Birth of Blades” and he decides to tag along too (either taking a shine to Pumyra or because he thought he was the only Tiger left).
All we need is a Snarfer and the cast is complete.
If Lion-O and Claudus had such a crappy relationship, why did Lion-O react so harshly to his death? If what you’re sating is true, then Tygra should have been the one to go ape in episode 3.
We know Cheetara cares greatly for Jagga, but we know nothing of their relationship. We’re assuming it was something of a father/daughter dynamic, but its still an assumption.
Well, Tygra always had Claudus’ approval, Lion-O only got his support when someone was too mean. Probably the only time Lion-O feels genuine support from his father is right before he died, that’s why he went a little nuts.
And yeah, we’re all assuming (myself included) that Jaga and Cheetara’s relationship was a lot closer than we’ve seen any evidence for. She shows sorrow at his sacrifice and “death” but only as much as one would show for a beloved teacher, not a substitute parent.
We don’t know that. We got one glimpse into their relationship, I don’t think it’s fair to assume his entire relationship with his father was shaky. Tygra got his approval through doing what was expected of him. Parents want their kids to act accordingly, they feel it’s in their best interest. Now if Claudus just didn’t give a hoot about Lion-O, than why not make Tygra the heir? He is the King, and it seems like Tygra was next in line until Lion-O came along. If Tygra was his favorite and the perfect prince, then why not give into his own wants and the desires of his people by announcing Tygra as his successor? He knew Lion-O had what it took to be a great King, and like most parents he dished out some tough love when he saw his son faltering.
As long as Bengali doesn’t join the group as a permanent member…i’m fine with the character appearing as a blacksmith in the Birth of blades. He should be a recurring character in the series for sure..but not a permanent member of the group…I just feel he will take a bit of the spotlight away from Tygra’s character..and it’s better that he stay as a supporting cast member in the show rather than a permanent member. The same goes with Lynxo. We already have an older military character with Panthro…having Lynxo in the group would take away from Panthro’s character.
Pumyra on the other hand is a different case ..there is room for her character to exist within the group…for one thing she represents “the common people”, those who are angry with the king …she is the “convert” of the group. It’s also important to see another adult female character join the thundercats..I mean if I was Cheetara, I’d like to have a girl friend to confide in sometimes, instead of just men and little kids…Plus there is the big scenario of Pumyra being the Love interest (if it’s true) of the main protagonist Lion O…that would pretty much solidify her as a more permanent member of the group, compared to Bengali and Lynxo
But that’s not how Lion-O felt at the time, maybe now after coming out of the trials the can see that, but at the time it happened he doesn’t have the insight to see that his father was trying to make him into the king he knew he could be.
Ok. Lion-O may not have felt it ( looking at the Tygra trial, its a strong possibility), but I don’t think it’s fair of us to assume Claudus favored Tygra, or loved Lion-O less. If the whole relationship was shaky, then it would be silly for Lion-O to go crazy over one good moment at the end. One good moment doesn’t get rid of 17 years of bad blood.
I’m sorry but..Claudius just doesn’t look like the best dad ever…maybe it’s the voice actor…(i mean i love the guy he has that classic 80s delivery when he speaks ) but Claudius comes off as a not very affectionate guy…he’s pretty emotionless..I didn’t even buy the scenes with the queen…especially when she died, i just didn’t feel the emotion from Claudius..maybe it’s the writing. I mean if you compare that scene with Tygra and his real dad..there’s just no comparison..that moment had a lot of emotion and I bought it..but the Claudius part felt dry to me. Anyhow the moment they announced to Tygra that his mom was pregnant..this is all i saw..excuse the foul censored language.
