Also, I’ve just uploaded a new page for our Original Comic Art Gallery - this was a commission piece created for Mark by a pro artist, which he posted up on the Cartoon & Comics Board. The fact that the artist has been published qualifies it for inclusion in our Gallery, which suits me because I think it’s gorgeous!
Mark: I’ve left the image unwatermarked because I didn’t know if you wanted it watermarked or not - I know the image you posted on the Board was without a watermark. If you’d like this to have a watermark on it, that’s no problem at all, I can add that easily - just LMK! Many thanks for agreeing to allow me to host this beautiful piece in the Gallery my friend!
Neil about the advert I think it came out of a magazine. I know the lady I bought it from had 2 of them 3 at most (of which I have one), other than these I have not ever seen it again. I will try digging it out sometime and seeing what is on the back of the pages. other than that I dont really know what to say on it besides the figures and weapons look like they are clay sculpts rather than actual figures
Just wondering when a formal announcement can be made. We can do it by sections. Some of the material is online already but Im not sure people are aware that its been there for a few days already. I can make an announcement for the sections I worked on while Neil can make an announcement on what he worked on and so on so forth. Good idea or should we just wait to make one big announcemnt covering everything
I might be mistaken, but I believe the reason that the big update hasn’t happened yet is because MannyF was working on some new graphics (possibly banners) for the front page to herald certain elements of the update - please, please, please don’t quote me on that, I just seem to think that Manny was working on something to do with the front page, so that could be it!
On the subject of whether to do it in incremental parts or in one go - I personally would do the update all in one go, for maximum impact. Absolutely everything I’d been planning to do is up, with a bit extra, and it would be a piece of cake to get my stuff “live”, basically just a case of renaming pages marked “index2” or “index_final” to just “index” and deleting the corresponding “placeholder” pages!
I would also say that I would be tempted to leave the news about the character design artwork sitting on the front page for a couple of days more before pushing it down - however, just to reiterate, all my content is ready to go!
Maybe what we could do is list all the pages that we’ve updated so that MannyF can pull together a summary of of what’s new, and that this can also be posted in the forums…?
The “Cartoon Guide” subsection has its first article, titled “Anime Wilykit!”, showcasing a short sequence of frames from the episode “The Tower of Traps” that show off the series’ Japanese animation origins:
The DC/Wildstorm subsection is up, complete with write-ups for the first six issues, and showcasing both the regular and variant covers for the first DC/Wildstorm mini-series:
There are a couple of bits and bobs I’m still pottering with (for example that piece of commission artwork of yours, Mark, which I need to watermark and then update the index page with a thumbnail), but this is everything of mine that’s completed!
Thanks for listing everything together guys! I’ve been SUPER busy the past couple of days. That said, once Neil can summarize what he’s done, I’ll have the update up on the front page soon after.
Unfortunately, the only thing I have to contribute to this update is an addition to the Community section. I had to put off the front page stuff until the next update. Hopefully, I’ll have much more next time around.

Right now, I just need someone to watermark all my larger images for me on all of those pages. Matt’s full sized ad also definately needs watermarking as well.
Well I think it would be a good idea to watermark all the images on the Packaging Variations article and the 4 Variations pages (excluding the small thumbs that lead to a bigger sized image)
As for the Foreign Figures galleries, perhaps just watermark the following because they are from mine, Andrew and Matt’s collections:
-Rainbow Toys Bengali (I’d like this to definately be watermarked!!!)
-Rainbow Toys 14-back Cheetara
-Playful Jaga
-Playful Bengali
Oh and like I said, the full sized image of Matt’s printed ad definately needs watermarking as well.
Anyhow, hopefully I got all of them…if not, just lead me to the ones I miss and I’ll modify them ASAP.
As for the update, I’ve written a summary that is ready to be published on the front page…all I need now is for Chris to make all the pages live and I’ll hit the publish button and we’re all set!
Also, I was thinking that since we have sooooo much content this time around that we could give each section its own update. For example, today’s update will showcase the Cartoon (including the Animation Art) section additions. Then Saturday, it’ll be the Comics section and on Sunday, the Toy section. On Monday, I’ll have the Community section and other general site information updates to display.
Doing it this way will allow visitors to take in each update one at a time and not be overwhelmed with all the great stuff we have to offer. It’ll also give each section the spotlight and not be overshadowed by something else.
Anyhow, give me the thumbs up Chris and I’ll hit the publish button!
Manny I agree with your idea much more than just make one big announcement. Its easier for people to find stuff for a certain section rather than read a whole post to find the updates. I’d say separate updates spaced out over the next 3-4 days
Guys I know I’m a bit of a stuck record on this, but I’d like to treat the Animation Art as it’s own update rather than fold it into the Cartoon update.
I agreed to the menu change, but I still consider Animation Art to be its own section run by a maniacal control freak who craves his own glory

If you’ll indulge me my bluntness, I will say that if our roles were reversed my attitude would be “What’s best for the site”, not “What’s best for my section”, in much the same way as I’m sure Kyle would be happy with an update to the Encyclopedia being trumpeted as an update to a major area of the Cartoon Section. But, I think you & I can both agree that the Animation Art Section gets plenty of recognition in the excellent write-up that MannyF has done!
