Of course they wouldn’t be known as Warrior Maiden, Berbils, etc… but they could be known as other kingdoms.
They can just keep the Berbils origin of them landing on Third Earth after leaving the Planet Ro-Bear.
I remember from the original, that the Bebils were aware of the Planet Thundera prior to its destruction. It was in the Thundercats Ho parts when a Berbil ship saves the New Thundercats. So they could be in the New Series too. the Berbils in Third Earth had arrived much earlier than the Nobles did
One character i would really like to see is Hachiman, i am a fan of Japan as well as its samurai tradition!
Yes, Berbils were in Third Earth before the TCs arrival… and yes, they were aware of Thundera before its explosion, as they were the ones to rescue Lynx-O, Pumyra and Bengali, so they could perfectly bein the new series.
I never liked Hachiman though.

Hachiman was something like Lion-o’s Japanese counterpart, like the Thundercutter was equivalent to the Sword of Omens! well in a way
He did also have almost the same background! They were both of noble birth!

What I would do with Hachiman is Instead of making him a time traveler I would make him part of the Warrior Maiden’s tribe (if they added men to them.) And “Hachiman” could be a title or a nickname instead of his real name.
Don’t know really… many reasons.
- I didn’t like the idea of a time traveller.
- I didn’t like how he spoke
- I didn’t like thatm in the eps he appeared, it was almost only Lion-O and no the other TCs (I liked more the eps where the other TCs appeared as well).
His clothes and sword were cool though, except for that head band.
Speaking of clothes, does someone else think that Mandora was a prototype of Melodia from Silver Hawks? After all, they were the same writers, drawers and producers.
Less comedy but with strong character development and an overall story arc.
Good ideas, everyone! I was kind of wondering if this time around, seeing that this is a far distant future earth, possibly post- apocalyptic, all the anthros on third earth (Thunderians, Wollows, the snowmen of hook mountain, and the various mutant races) might be descended from evolved/mutated humans… though the Thunderian slaves are ironically the only ones deragitorally referred to as ‘mutants’. And humans, like the Amazons and Hachiman, are from surviving normal ‘human’ tribes.
As to the berbils, a friend of mine and I came up with the idea they were some kind of robotic virtual pet like creatures that were made by our civilzation before it fell, and they had the programming/ability to repair themselves, and build new ones, so they survived and kept going, building thier own civilization after we were gone.
Have you guys wondered at all about the New Thundercats meaning Bengali, Lynx-o Pumyra?, i mean the nobles were the core characters but a whole season in the old Series was based on the other Thundercats too..

I’d like to see them, but not in such a big role like in the 80s. As a matter of fact, I think Lynx-O is the only one who I’d definitely would like to see; he was an interesting character: old, blind, wise, and represented a new feline we’ve never saw before in the series… but they gave him too much air time IMO.
Pumyra maybe, being the other adult female. Pumm-Ra was a puma, but she was the first “real” puma in the show. Too bad they never developed her character that much, I liked the idea of a healer.
I never cared that much for Bengali honestly, I always though that in Thundercats Ho!, every time they were about to escpae or get rescued, something happened to Bengali that frustrated their plans, so I found him kinda lame. Besides, he was a bad imitation of Tygra… and I’ll always blame him for taking Tygra’s screen time. Also, it always bothered me that they couldn’t think of another new feline instead of a white tiger for a new character. And finally, his weapon was the lamest among all the TCs (even pumyra’s slingshot (is that what it was?) and the kittens’ pellets were cooler and more useful IMO.
So, even if I’d like to see him, I won’t die of doesn’t appear. I’d rather have new characters based on other felines instead.
I imagine they might be in an episode or two, but not part of the main cast. At least in the first season. I honestly wouldn’t miss them much if they weren’t there, but if they are it would be nice to see them.
And I disagree about the hammer. I rather liked it. Though I always wondered how a non-Thundercat (as he wasn’t one at first) was given the Hammer of Thundera.
Interesting bit of news. I didn’t anticipate that, but willing to see how it plays out 
I always thought that Bengali was just such a good blacksmith that he made it himself, and I don’t he or his weapon were lame. I think he and Pumyra were underused. After seeing all the episodes, I’d hardly say they stole a lot of time from the other ThunderCats. After Lion-O matured, Bengali could have been the real hot-head of the group, and have skill in metallurgy complimented Panthro’s mechanical knowledge and Tygra’s designs. The writers only ever really showed this off like once though.
The same goes for Pumyra. She was only shown having medical skills like once. If this new series actually allows characters to get seriously injured, her healing skills could really come in handy, and she should be more like a field medic for the team.
Welcome, Blueeyedkitty! Yeah, I like Space Opera, too. I’ll miss that aspect of it, but as long as the show is intelligent and well-written, I’m all for it.
You probably also might be interested in the story Lady Ocelli and I have been working on, as it’s very much Space Opera, complete with a bit of planet-hopping and space fleet engagements!
Astrokreep and I have also floated the idea of a tabletop space combat game based on TCats that would use the rules of Amarillo Design Bureau’s “Federation Commander.” So far the races I’d like to include in the game would be:
Thunderians
Mutants
Lunataks
Terran Commonwealth (Mandora’s people)
Pirate cartels (like Cranker and Shiner)
Kymera
Terators
It seems to me that the writers are striving for a much more logical, realistic story. Thunderians, Plundarrians, and Lunatacks all appear humanoid, and yet in the original series there is no explanation for how apparently humanoid races evolved on separate distant planets. Of course, they could have originated here thousands of years earlier, developed space travel, and left to colonize their own worlds, only to coincidentally return here following the destruction of Thundera. But that’s a long and convoluted story.
So, in the name of logic and realism, the writers have decided to have these races evolve and remain on Third Earth in isolated kingdoms. It makes sense. That doesn’t mean I prefer it.
I agree that certain thematic elements of the original story (destruction of a homeland, core group of ThunderCats cast out into an unknown land, native peoples caught in an unwelcome crossfire, and the dim hope of finding refugees) can all be kept in this new story if certain creative decisions are made. So let us hope! This could be a brilliant choice, or it could shrink the mythos and underwhelm us.

the thundertank is kinda sci-fi-ish though. so since there on third earth does that mean the series take place in our future?
Actually, I think Thundercats has always taken place in our future, even in the old series. Note the ruins of the Giza complex in Egypt the mutants see on thier monitors, Mumm-ra’s comments about having been around since first earth, Dr. Dometone’s comment in that one episode about; “In the name of what’s left of humanity…” as if Humanity’s time had passed, Mandora calling soap an ancient substace that is now a well-kept secret, etc., etc.
That always intrigued me.
If soap was an ancient substance that Lion-O didn’t know, does that mean the TCs never took a bath? And if they ever did, they didn’t use soap?
I mean, those guys ran, climbed trees, fought in battle, perspired, fell and rolled on the ground, got wet, etc… and they didn’t know soap?
