Agreed. Shes being very personal with Lion-O, while shes only said a few words to Tygra. Shes been identified as the sulty speed demon so a lot of it could be her personality, but I wont deny that she is being flirtatious. I dont know if its with any particular goal in mind but all the touching is far from subtle or even professional:p

Besides the wink in episode one, this is the only other time Tygra has ever shown any particular interest in Cheetara. You’d think with all the standing around those two do, we’d have more dialog to pick over :smiley:

I have no reason to believe she has ANY interest rather it be paltonic or romantic in Tygra. We have yet to see any real relationship dynamic unfold between those two. Time will tell

I agree about taking it slow. I like romance to be a slow simmer. Now when it comes to the Cheetara/Lion-O dynamic their laying it on thick. Honestly if I were Tygra I wouldnt even bother looking her way after seeing how ah..personal she tends to get with Lion-O. (To me, someone who is getting to know Cheetara as a viewer only 6 eps in) I find her behavior flirtatious. I have not seen her get personal with any other team member so I dont know how to 100% interpret her interactions or make any assumptions about her goals.

Heck, she mite be flirty by nature. Ive met tons of people like that.

Didn’t they talk about the triangle a bit in the Thundercats Thursday series done by IGN(I think it was them)? Something about Tygra thinking he’s going to lose to Lion-O again and that Lion-O would take Cheetara’s support as affection? I believe it was something like that.

Yeah, it was if I recall correctly but it’s been years since I last saw the original series.

I’m thinking in this series of Thundercats the ‘thundercat call’ only lights up the eyes of thundercats that are at a certain level of loyalty with Lion-O. I’m also thinking it also gives those affected by the call a second wind so to speak as Cheetara was hit pretty hard by Mumm-Ra when she saved Jaga’s lantern.

I’d have to see the article or whatever it is myself to read it. But so far I don’t know how people can take Cheetara’s actions with Lion-O as anything other than flirting. Hell, she never even try to deny the Wiley Kat’s and Wiley Kit’s teasing that they flirting in the latest episode.

If that was the case then shouldn’t she have flirted with Tygra once or twice by now? If anything, I’m thinking they are setting it up as Tygra getting interested in Cheetara but he loses to Lion-O in that regard. It wouldn’t surprise me if it’ll be part of Tygra’s issues that will have to be dealt with later on in the series with him getting jealous of Lion-O ‘beating’ him more and more later on.

I don’t take it as flirting–I’m just not getting that vibe. With the interview that stated that Lion-O would take her support as affection I feel that the creators may be trying to lead the audience to that conclusion too (that she’s being affectionate when she’s just being supportive). That would actually be great emotional story telling because the audience would be just as surprised as Lion-O and be able to relate to him (after awhile it’s nice to see twists in shows that don’t necessarily relate to someone’s death or betrayal or surprising familial relations)

As for the teasing she could just be taking it in stride–someone who is more mature isn’t as likely to become flustered by little kids teasing them, especially if it’s about something that they don’t feel has any true basis. I’ve bantered with younger guys, and have been teased for it like that and it’s incredibly easy to brush off since there’s no strong emotional basis. However when I’ve been teased about someone I actually have liked, it’s a lot harder to brush it off because there are different emotions involved.

But that’s all speculation.

tl;dr version–I think she’s being supportive and sultry, but ins’t necessarily flirting with him based around the interviews, personal experience and fallible opinion.

About Cheetara’s eyes glwing when the TC appeared, we didn’t see the others’ eyes, they might have glown too. Bu if not, here’s my theory:

I think Cheetara, being a cleric, is the only TC so far as maybe the title was reserved for clerics adn special great warriors, so the only one eyes glowing were hers. I think Claudus had in mind to anoint Pantrho and Grune when they came back with the BoO, but that never happened. The twins are commoners, so they’re no TCs yet, and Tygra, well, maybe being a prince (and he’s not even a blood one) doesn’t necessarily imply to be a TC and he ahd to earn it, or be older to get the title, I don’t know. I think Lion-o will have to anoint them as TCs (like in the OS with Lynx-o, Pumyra and Bengali), and might do it soon.

About the love triangle, I hipe she stays with Tygra. I don’t want him to become a jealous loser hater. Yes, Cheetara has been nice and even flirtatious with Lion-o, but remember in the first episode Tygra winked an eye at her; then in the following ones, Cheetara and Tygra seemed to share a point of view about Lion-o’s decissions and exchange looks, and they were at the back a lot. In “Old Friends”, it was Tygra who waited and worried for Cheetara.

I think Tygra has made his interest more evident so far (even hot a jealous loook when Cheetara told him and Pantrho to believe in Lion-o as she does). But here’s anotehr theory:

What if Cheetara does feel somethig for Tygra, but being a cleric she’s forbidden to fall in love (yes, too much SW, I know), or she’s afraid of her feelings (I’d like that more) or she knows Tygra was a ladies man and is afraid to get hurt, so she’s turning into Lion-o to deny and protect herself about them, because all she wants to do is to madly to jump over the striped one and take off that green armor from him lol.

About the Lion-o/Tygra rivarly, I think it’s slowly coming to good terms, with Tyra finally accepting and respeting Lion-o as the Lord of the TCs. Sure he still teases him, but I think that might be because a) he’s still a little jealous, but not as much as the beginning, and b) he’s his older brother, and that’s what older brothes do.

I don’t want a vvoe triangle because that will make Tygra’s caharcter go back a few steps in what, at least to em, have been a good developement and personal growth.

As much as I like romance, I really only like it as a subplot, so I like subtle romance. What you mentioned above is a lot of the same stuff I noticed too. Also, I agree she’s being flirty, but that’s not really the same as actually flirting with someone. Being loyal and supportive of your leader doesn’t have to automatically equal love (it can, but it doesn’t have to).

Those are some cool theories (unfortunately I don’t think we’ll see too much armor being taken off like that :D)

My theory/dream is that Cheetara briefly met Tygra when they were children. Cheetara visits the palace with Jaga (being a child she’s still in training to be a cleric) and meets Tygra there. They play together and have fun (like kids) and just overall develop a bond of friendship. Before leaving Tygra gives her something (a flower, bracelet, etc.) as a parting gift.

Jaga, however notices the gift, and the bond Cheetara developed with Tygra. He tells her that, as a Cleric, she must remember her duty is to protect the crown. She cannot let anything get in the way of that, and if there is someone she lets into her heart that would get in the way of that duty, she would fail in her responsibilities as Cleric. For this reason she must keep others from her heart so that she can serve the kingdom properly. Because she’s serious about being a Cleric, she takes what Jaga says to heart and works hard to be the best Cleric she can be a serve her kingdom proudly (at the expense of her personal feelings).

So now, as an adult, she still has this bond with Tygra. She always cared for him, but now she’s around him all the time and can’t really ignore him, but her first responsibility is to support and protect Lion-O. This creates character conflict (wants versus needs).

And I also think Cheetara and Tygra might have met when kids (cubs lol). Who knows? Maybe you -or both of us- are right :wink:

But that’s already happened. Lion-O has already surpassed him by becoming king and Tygra is well aware that they’re no longer on equal footing and is dealing with it. There’s no reason to add Cheetara into the mix to drive that point home. Tygra’s already the most insecure member of the group as it is, imo. They have enough conflict without her. What they need is a resolution to their problems and I’m guessing she’ll play a part in that.

I’m not worried about that as of now.

It’s not like Cheetara has shown ANY sign she’s the least bit interested in Tygra. If anything Lion-o is going to end up telling her to back off and let him fight his own battles with Tygra and Pathro.

My guess is it’s because Lion-o is starting to master the sword and cheetara obviously trusts his abilities the most at this point she is the only one who accepts him. That causes her to gain the power when summoned by the sword/Lion-o. My guess is when they all trust in Lion-o the same will happen to the others.

As for a love triangle…maybe but I don’t want it to stay unresolved. I hate undecisive characters.

Agree. That might be also why she’s the only one trusting Lion-o so much. Jaga must have prepared her for this moment, taught her to be patient with the new king, etc.

I don’t remember if this is the episode I am remembering, but i definately remember being young and seeing at least once episode that implied Cheetara and Lion-O… I’m pretty sure more than once, but its been a long time. I never thought about Tygra and Cheetara in the past, and if they do go the way of a love triangle, I really would be disappointed if its not Lion-O.

It was in “Sixth Sense”, at the end the little spaceshio (or whatever it was), pushed Cheetara towards Lion-o and she kinda blushed. Also, Panthro and Tygra laughed, so maybe there was no interest on her from him.

On the other hand, Cheetara and Tygra were always together (were, almost always), which led people to think there was something going on between them.

I can remember the end of the pilot TOS episode ‘Exodus’ where after Lion-O popped out of the sleep capsule all grown up Cheetara did comment on what a fine looking man he had grown into.

Not that it ever amounted to anything.

That scene was kinda funny, and it’s great that they got Larry Kenny to do it, but it annoys the heck out of me every time I hear him go “Eye of Thundera give me Sight Beyond Sight.” And then the eye actually closes.
