In looking at the trailer, Im not so sure it is Claudus in the carving against Mumm-Ra. It could be his ancestor, given that Mumm-Ra is thousands of years old, he could have been banished. Then as many of people have already speculated, Grune may enslave regular mutant minions, (I dont think he will enslave the main ones we know and love) to work with the Mutants to try and resurrect him and enable Grune to gain more power and overthrow Claudus/Lion-O etc. In the press release, they have said it will be Prince Lion-o’s struggle to gain assension to the thrown. It is possible that Grune will be spreading lies to the regular Thunderians which is why they maybe attacking the thundercats. Only time will tell but i for once cant wait, just wish we in the UK had a release date. Lucky Americans getting it in July.
Ok, but if TCs lived in Third Earth (after our own First Earth), considering the grenhouse effect and all the climatic changes, tehre would be NO snow regions

ROFLMAO! Welcome to the Thundercat fandom, hunny! I’ve been reading that kind of stuff since 2004! Don’t get them started on the suspension capsules…you’ll be doomed if you do! That and not to mention the time line about Grune dying hundreds of years ago. There is no normal “timeline” in this show but they will try to find a plausible explanation. What’s killing me is these fans are starting to get as bad as Trekkies.
Lol! Well, as a lifelong “Trekker” myself (I loathe the term “Trekkie”), I’ve witnessed my share of discussions over trivial minutiae. Personally when it comes to stuff like that, I adopt MST3K’s mantra of "It’s just a show. I should really just relax.
I guess what makes Tcats inconsistencies stand out more though is a lot of them are so glaringly obvious and could have been easily addressed had the writers just gone back over scripts or a more coherent bible could have been written. The only theory I have for why they didn’t is that they were just going in with the attitude of, “Eh. It’s a kids’ show. They’re not going to care or notice. It’s not like adults are watching this stuff!” lol:rolleyes: Though granted, some of the shows aimed at adults that were made around the same time sometimes weren’t that much better!
I don’t know if there’s really any TV or movie franchise that wasn’t 100% consistent. When you’ve got lots of people working on one thing, not everyone’s going to be on the same page all the time. The only possible exception I could think of would be Babylon 5, and that was because 90% of the episodes were written by one guy: J. Michael Straczyinski, who also was the show’s creator and Executive Producer. (He also worked on He-Man and The Real Ghostbusters). But he’ll be the first person to tell you that’s usually the exception rather than the rule, as doing that sort of thing can be both physically and mentally exhausting!

Yep, absolutely correct. You’ve told me you weren’t, and so I will happily publicly apologise for misjudging you on that.
Nevertheless, the broad point of my post still stands, this is an “all ages” forum and whilst we’re none of us prudes over here, at the same time there’s a fine line between what is and isn’t OK…
I think all of the mods on here probably have different viewpoints on this and given that every poster is different it’s hard to create a consistent balance, you have to go with “your gut” on some things. Sometimes your gut instincts are wrong (and sometimes one mod’s gut instinct will clash with another’s), but at the end of the day however much one of us may personally like someone, you have to make decisions based on what you consider is right for the forum. Believe me, it’s the worst part of running a website like this.

Ah well anyway thats all I can say on this particular thread then is that I hope bandai r gonna screw the toy collectors around with the new designs because WB are gonna keep the Tcats in the outfits we saw them in on the trailer!!!
Sadly I don’t think this will happen and poor Tygra will have to adorn G.I Joe’s army gear sooner or later! Done!

The outfit actually doesn’t bother me too much - like others have said, the bit of Tygra’s redesign I’m not so keen on is the gun!
Nevertheless, looking at the trailer, there’s nothing that leaps out at me as horrible - I think this retelling is set to really shake up ThunderCats continuity to a point that makes it unrecognisable compared to the original, but hopefully they’ll be able to throw in enough nods for us old-school fans that we’ll all be happy!

This preview just flat out looks amazing. I’m really, really excited about this. Any character design nit-picks I may have had go out the window when seen in actual animation.
I thought his new outfit looked more like Master Chief’s armor myself!
I’ll repeat myself once again, as Chris mentioned, i find nothing fault with the Trailer, quite the contrary.
A few months ago we were very cautious and concerned over the quality of the New Series. i dare even say that the majority here was rather pessimistic about the final outcome. Many fans were comparing the future of Thundercats to the MOTU 2002, which generally didn’t receive the best reviews.
Now, i strongly believe we should feel happy and proud with the New Thundercats and based on the latest info, hope for the best.
PS. Tygra’s outfit rocks!:tygra: it matches perfectly to his ‘stealth’ nature!
I read that the Thunderbike/ po that attaches to the Thundertank that cmes with Tygra (not the Lion-O one) will come with an unarmoured Tygra so maybe it will be in the outfit from the trailer.
I like the Green Masterchief outfit though.
I can’t stand Halo or its main character, Master Chief. But personally, my first impression of the armored version of Tygra was Man-At-Arms from MOTU.
My mental image of the unarmored Tygra in the new series is fuzzy, but I know there is something about it I liked. I just can’t remember what cause I can’t recall what it looks like exactly.
Well, if not Master Chief, maybe Solid Snake, then?
Interestingly enough, Lady Ocelli and I had a scene that made full use of Tygra’s stealth abilities where we had him infiltrate a Mutant base camp to get intel. We would have had him kind of going into the place Sam Fisher-style with Nayda (in her own stealth-camo suit) as his partner, seeing as how she would have been the only one other than Tygra himself who spent an extended amount of time invisible.
Based on what we’ve seen so far, I think you are 100% correct here. Furthermore, I will venture so far as to say that I think this is the CORRECT approach to take.
Unless you are planning on an exact copy of the old show (and if so, what’s the point of making a new one?) you are invariably going to step on some toes, so to speak. It will be impossible to be 100% accurate to the old show in terms of the character’s past, timeline of events, etc. Some things will get out of order, some abilities/vehicles/histories/ancestry will be wrong.
It’s kinda like trying to match colors between furniture and paint and carpet and such. If you get close, but not close enough it stands out like a sore thumb. It looks bad… like you tried to match, but you failed. On the other hand, instead of trying to match the color, go with a completely different accent type color and everything looks good together.
To me these shows will be “accent colors” to each other. Enough similarities that we know they are linked and supposed to go together. But enough differences that we know these are two separate stories that stand on their own and aren’t trying to be identical.
