Ain’t nothin’ wrong with that 
I think those of us who grew up as fans (And continued to be) of the show will always try and stand up for it as best we can. I Guess our attachments to the characters and stories by this point are just that strong.
The Intro is the only thing most people remember from the show and it’s because the animation and the theme are awesome. The intro is ageing quite well however the show itself doesn’t hold up so well.
I’m still disappointed with the trailer because it doesn’t look cutting edge in terms of animation and visuals, it looks more like the cliche art most narrow mind people believe is anime, Studio 4°C is an avang-art animation studio and the artists right there are AMAZING, I’ve seen illustrations from their works and is mind-blowing but this thing scream laziness, I don’t know maybe is so bland because cartoon network and WB are behind the concept.
I was expecting something with this level of animation to be honest.
What’s the difference in that video vs. what we saw for the trailer as far as the “animation level” you’re referring to?
Are you referring to how “Anime” it looks? The characters we saw in the trailer do have a more “anime” look to them vs. the original show, but I feel they did retain a bit of western animation quality to them. It seems to be a nice balance. If they had went full on DBZ or, whatever this is that you linked, level of “anime” in the look…fans like myself would abandon it on day 1.
I care as much about anime as a polar bear cares about forest fires, and I’m not alone.
I honestly don’t see a difference in the detail level in either and I think the trailer is extremely detailed, but then again I’m no anime expert (by choice). Some scenes don’t appear as fluid, but can we say there won’t be fluidly animated parts to it, just because we didn’t see any in the trailer?
If you don’t like it, you don’t like it…I"m just trying to understand WHY you don’t like it after not being able to discern that when I viewed the clip.
I actually like the look of the animation. The quality of the trailer wasn’t the greatest. I can’t wait to see it in a higher resolution. After making myself watch gi joe renegades and promise myself It will get better, I cringe when I watch it. So after watching that and seeing this TC trailer. I am quite pleased with what I see. I think the action sequences are going to be stellar.
Thundercats looks like its got a good thing going and I can’t wait to see more.
You’re also comparing something that was done as a 4 episode OVA to a full weekly episodic TV series. That’s like apples and oranges.
i love how they made Claudius look just like the original Lion-O, face wise at least. also Claudius’s shirt is similar to the vintage Lion-O. the facial similaraties and the fact that Larry Kenney is voicing Claudius is a
great nod to the first show.

That pretty much is most of what I wanted to get off my chest…overwhelmed n slightly disappointed how most are lapping up the trailer tho…maybe the pesimist (sp?) in me!! lol
P.S the thing the reptile slaves r pulling looks like a cocoon/nest thing…not really suitable for Mumm-Ra unless they massively (really hope not) deviate from his storyline.

Liono looks awesome.. Hes a teen remember. Inbetween a child and a man and they pulled of his likeness awesomely. I love the way he looks.
Yes, Jaga looks frail. So did Ip man. Do you look at Yoda and think he will be able to pull of the stunts he can do? I like the way hes aged. I reckon he will surprise many an enemy. Jaga the wise..
I like the new version of Grune. Hes badass. His stance and looks are more menacing than the original i think. Cant wait to see Panthro go at him 
If Thundercats dont punch like brawlers what do you say they punch like?? Fairies? That punch effect is to add to the power.. Its not any different to any punch. Just a different angle..

I’m NEVER gonna compare Jaga to Yoda despite the similarities of returning in ghost form n being wise, so…he needs to be more veteran warrior like, ESPECIALLY as thats from before they left Thundera so he younger.
Grune I can accept n do like, but face v different, hopefully he get kick-arse evil looking shoulder-pads back in his armour later on.
I “say” that Thundercats shouldn’t punch at ALL! (possibly with exception to Panthro and his Martial Arts). Never seen that type of fighting from them in old series and looks …just…misplaced in Thundercats!
U could be correct about the Thundrillium tho it is rather ‘alien egg’ looking I think.

Actually, in the old series it’s stated (not by word though) that Tygra can turn himself invisible without his whip. See Exodus, Pumm-Ra and Lion-O’s mind power trial episodes for bigger references

Very true! It is possibly 1 of my main annoyances with the original series that things like that were SOOOOO inconsistent (along with actual weapon abilities).
Though I will say, I think it is better to be a weapon ability rather than a ‘natural’ ability like his mind power as he would almost seem too gifted otherwise! (Though his ‘trait’ as being the intelligent one/architect was never really utilised very well IMO)
I agree with you. It’s way better that he has that ability due to his weapon than as a natural power… but that was one inconsistecy that bothered me too. When he lost his whip in Fireballs of Plundarr, I thought “well, just turn invisible without it; I’ve seen you do that”.
Another inconsistency regarding that is this (maybe someone can make it clear for me): Tygra was tied up with his own whip many times (Mongor, Dimension Doom, The Evil Harp of Charr-Nin, ThunderCubs and Chain of Loyalty come to my mind, but might be some more); why didn’t it turn him invisible then? I think it’s because he got to turn invisible with some special, non-tight wrap, and maybe tighting it too much around his body wouldn’t cause the desired effect. Another explanation is that all these times he was tied up by some magic force or by the sword of omens, which maybe neutralized the whip’s powers.
And I agree with you that his intelligence and architectural abilities were never utilized in full potential.
No point trying to explain the inconsistencies I dont think…they’re illogical due to the fact (as Larry Kenney admits) they rarely went back to look at old episodes n check things.
U remember the episode he turns himself AND one of the warrior maidens invisible (Willa?) and they get stuck invisible!? Lol that was so stupid…I’m really happy some1 mentioned that Panthro’s Nun-chucks will have the power of fire (red) and Ice (Blue). I’m hoping for more consistency with Tygra’s Bolo Whip (unlike the 1 episode where WilyKat creates some ice type structure using the whip etc).
Another thing that got me was when ever Liono lost the sword of omens.. He would struggle to get it back rather than say come to my hands.. Lol…:liono

Well, in that line of thought, I don’t even know why the TCs bothered to fight at all. At the end of the day, the sword did all the job with a simple “Ho” from Lion-O (especially in seasons 3 and 4… it seemed that thing could do almost anything: it healed wounds, repeaired broken objects, summoned the ancestors of the TCs, etc).

Yeah maybe his invisibility was part of his illusion producing mind powers, the opposite of “Make him see what is not there”. Though can’t see how the whip would alleviate the burden of using the mind power and therefore why it was ever used!
Plus the whole thing bout not being able to swim without being invisible is a classic case of the story writers going:
“right in this safari joe episode we need weaknesses, ahaa! tygra cant swim!”
“Erm Bill, we’ve already done previous episodes where he swims!”
“Damn…ur right…wait a second, I got it! He can only swim whilst invisible! :). Damn it we’re good!”
NOT! lol. Plus when he loses his whip while swimming in ‘Fires of castle plun-darr’ (I think), he carries on swimming ok! …lame!
Totally agree about the Thunderkittens weapons, maybe they shouldn’t have any at all rather than rubbish ones…I always wondered how they made/got more of the pellets! (same goes for the small spheres in Bengali’s hammer).
One thing concerns me about Panthro’s Nun-Chuck abilities…fire was the 1 consistent thing Tygra’s Bolo Whip done and now Panthro pinched it!..Bloody ******

Huh…while thinking up of a new thread to start about armours/looks, and watching a grune the destroyer tribute vid, I have come across a rather large issue with the new storyline and inconsistency in the original series -
In Ghost Warrior (awesome episode) the little third earth things that released Grune accidentally say that “he ravaged third earth, but that was Centuries ago”
In the new series and the trailer we clearly can tell he gonna have a major part (sweet), BUT he wont have been banished from Thundera “centuries ago” like in the original!
And secondly in the original series (and I know there r loads of inconsistencies) we see Grune n Jaga on Thundera, but again if that was centuries ago, either Jaga was centuries old before he died in exodus, OR they just screwed up the storyline again! lol…OR he went through some time warp on his way to third earth!!
Just saying is all…now for the new thread!!

Now, his mind powers have nothing to do with his Bolo Whip invisibility. I don’t remember any episode where he turned himself invisible without the aid of his Weapon.
He does. I said he did it at least in 3 eps:

Exodus: when the mutants invade the ship where the TCs were in, he turns invisible, and it was before Jaga handed him his clothes and whip.

Pumm-Ra: he gets inside Cats Lair throught that energy thing, and confronts Pumm-Ra… you can see him turning invisible without using the whip.
- Lion-O’s Anointment Fourth Day: The Trial of Mind Power: he turned invisible in the beginning of the trial, and he wasn’t allowed to use his whip. That’s why I think his invisibility power was part of his mind powers, but doing it by himself drained his energy, so Jaga gave him the whip that was like an external battery or something lol.
I’m pretty sure there’s at least one more ep, but not 100% sure and can’t remember it right now.
About Cheetara’s sixth sense, I also think there was an inconsistency there. The first time they asked her to use it, she refused because she said it weakens her, but then she used it at least a couple of eps more. So if her sixth sense drains her and she used it in spite of theat, they could have found the way to amke Tygra use his power as well, even if it drained him (something like all the TCs getting captured, their weapons taken away, and his mind powers were the only way to fool the mutants/lunatics/Mumm-Ra/other enemy into leaving them free).
Wow, miss stopping by for a few days and the board goes crazy!! The new trailer looks sweet! It definitely has me more confident the new series will be good.
