I chalk it up to some Thunderians totally unaware of the sword’s legend, specifically the Eye of Thundera.
It is a bit iffy - not quite sure either way: in the extended version of Exodus, Tygra states that he had believed the Eye Of Thundera to be a myth, not the Sword Of Omens. Can someone confirm in Return To Thundera whether the guards refer to the Sword or the Eye specifically?

Even when most Thunderians would have made to believe it was a myth (maybe to avoid rebellions?), shouldn’t the Noble TCs, Protectors of the Lord of the TCs, know about it?

Maybe that’s why that line was cut from the regular version of the episode . . .

Hate to quote myself, but was thinking about this one. Maybe he noticed himself turning visible as he couldn’t see past through himself, which he might be able to do when invisible (like being transparent) . When he looked at his own hand while swimming and couldn’t see through it, he knew he had turned visible.

Just watched “The Thunderscope”, and here’s something I noticed the first time:
On the first setting Lion-O and Snarf glow when viewed through the scope, as evidently would anybody from Thundera.
On the second setting, the wreck of their original spaceship glows, because it comes from Thundera. However, the Thundertank does not glow. Considering it was built from parts of that ship, it should. (This would probably not apply to any other of their vehicles, because they were probably made from source materials on Third Earth.)
Also:
In the opening credits - is it just me, or is Wilykat flying through the air? He’s turning somersaults and not succumbing to gravity at any point! When he dips, he rises again!

I’ve noticed that. I think he just wanted to have some fun.
We see a sighted, young Claudus and a young Jaga both use the sword in “Shadowmaster”, so we can assume that between those events and the events of the flashback in “The Jade Dragon” (in that episode, the ASOE state that Jaga was then Lord). Not a lot to go on but it all still works out.

There’s the “Pumm-Ra” episode where the Mumm-Ra-disguised puma not only takes the Sword of Omens, but also the Claw Shield. Previously in “The Unholy Alliance,” Lion-O used the Claw Shield to reflect Mumm-Ra’s own hideous image. And in “Monkian’s Bargain,” Mumm-Ra has the shield inside his crypt following Lion-O and Snarf’s capture by Monkian.
“The Jade Dragon” . . . pretty much the whole episode. Has to be one of the dodgiest episodes in the whole series.

I liked the Hachiman/Mumm-Ra confrontation in that episode.
I never liked that ep. I found it boring and nonsense to hell.

Agreed - Hachiman just jumping on his robot horse and riding to New Thundera, again without any apparent need for breathing apparatus, and seemingly faster than the Feliner, is just so much twaddle.
The Circus Train is equally dodgy, although Crownan’s Groucho Marx voice is amusing for short periods.
I got to the end of season 3 this afternoon, and at least The Last Day is suitably epic. Ticks all the boxes for a good powerful finale.

The Last Day is one of my absolute favourite Thundercats episodes. Top ten at least.

The only thing that bugs me about it is that at the end, the way they say, that’s it, all the bad guys are gone, we’re leaving - a sentiment that was introduced in “The Thunderscope”. It’s extremely disloyal to all their friends. Mutter-mutter-mutter-New-Thundera-Peter-Lawrence-mutter-mutter-mutter . . .

Exactly. It felt like they never felt Third Earth as their home. It made no sesnse that they were so eager to get back to NT… it was a whole new different palnet, not their home planet.
I know I’m picky here, but didn’t like how fast and easy Mumm-Ra got rid of Tygra in “The Last Day”; both Cheetara and Panthro lasted longer… but I know I’m biased.

Watching “Return To Thundera” at the moment, and it’s struck me that not only is Part IV surplus to requirements in overall story terms, as has already been mentioned - but so is Part II. Also, Mumm-Ra stole the regulator in Part I - so how come he didn’t throw it into the cauldron until the end of Part IV?
