Even you people have been ignoring my post as of late, I still wanted to give this thread idea a try.
Now, I know i’m not the only one who wishes he could have changed the way certain episodes played out, so this is a thread for people to ventilate about how they wished an episode went and why.
I’ll Start
I wasn’t necessarily onboard with that whole “Pumyra blames Lion-O” idea at first (I’m still not, actually), but after the way “Birth of the Blades” and “Recipe For Disaster” ended, i was starting to let it slide. And, in my opinion, i would have changed three things about the “What Lies Above” two-parter:
1. Rather than have Pumyra sound rude when they were talking with Vultaire, i would have had the subject of the Tech stone be brought up through the conversation between him and Lion-O and left Pumyra out of it
2. When the Cats found out about how important the Tech Stone was Avista, they all (Pumyra with them) realized they couldn’t take and therefore none of them made a move towards it. That would be when a Bird Guard entered the chamber and informed them and Vultaire that an Enemy armada (Mumm-Ra’s ) was headed for their Air Space. That’s where the First part would’ve ended.
3. I thought long and hard about this and, while i don’t really approve of the way this “Pumyra was brought back to life by Mumm-Ra” scenario played out, I will admit it’s an interesting twist. But i personally would have had the big reveal be played out like this:
Pumyra had every intention of throwing the stone to Lion-O, but something inside her made her throw it to Mumm-Ra instead. Pumyra’s was just as shocked as Lion-O and even went as far as too say
“I don’t know why i did that! Am i out of my mind?!”.
That’s when Mumm-Ra revealed to both of the Cats that Pumyra has been his since the fall of Thundera. He brought Pumyra back after she died, but because he knew that prolonged time with Lion-O would’ve brought out her true emotions and cause her to turned on him, Mumm-Ra made sure that Pumyra was only serving him subconsciously (he did use her to track the Thundercats, but she honestly didn’t know anything about it. When they met at Mt. Plundarr, Mumm-Ra made Pumyra black out after she screamed and had her subconsciously hand him the SoP, that’s when he tied her up). Naturally, this made Pumyra very angry, so much so that the first thing she did after this was grab an Avistan staff and charge directly at Mumm-Ra. Of course she is easily overpowered, but Lion-O still came to her defense and prepare for battle that neither he or Pumyra would’ve survived. That’s when Tygra and the others would’ve arrived and joined Lion-O and Pumyra in their face-off, but even then, the new Armored Mumm-Ra was still too powerful. Enter WilyKat and WilyKit and their army of reinforcements. Just like before, Mumm-Ra would’ve been beaten back and made to retreat, but this time, before he leaves, he would’ve said
“Thank you for all of your help, my child”
–thus making Pumyra feel all the more terrible. Anyway, the Thundercats still manage to save Avista and when they do, Lion-O notices Pumyra moping about what she’s allowed to happen. Lion-O comforts her by telling her that Mumm-Ra is responsible for this, not her, and it’s not just Lion-O who comforts her either. Cheetara and the others also join in by telling her that whatever trickery Mumm-Ra used, Pumyra is one of them now, no matter what. And with only one stone left, they’re going to need all the help they can get. Pumyra would have smiled at this and that’s where the episode would’ve ended.
I know that ending might sound corny, but if done right, I think it could still work.
