My interests are extremely varied. I like a bunch of stuff that most people have never heard of or just plain arent into. I love bands like the Shelia Divine, Blur, Modest Mouse, The Tea Party, Tripping Daisy, Belle and Sabastion etc. Mostly the music I listen to is from my growing up all the grunge and alternative from the 90’s. I also love the older rock like Pink Floyd, the Doors, Zepplin etc. I also like a little rap not that rap that you see on MTV but rap with purpose and substance like Cannibal Ox, Everlast, Immortal Technique, Jedi Mind Tricks. I’m always looking to improve my cd collection so if you know of any band thats along these lines you think I might like drop me a line and let me know and I will check them out. I love checking out new music.

I’m 33 and the music I like was released mostly from 1970 to 1993, I think.
I listen to mostly hard rock, hair bands with a little metal mixed in. As a whole, I DESPISE rap and hip hop.
My all-time favorite group is KISS. I first started listening to them in 1987 with the release of their Crazy Nights album. I have MOST of their library. What’s funny is that, over the last 6 or 7 years, the bands I’ve discovered are OLD bands!
I got into Queen. My favorite song by them is Princes of the Universe from The Highlander. That song was the theme song to my Jedi/Sith Thundercats. Thanks to Southpark, I discovered Styx! I got their '95 greatest hits mostly for Come Sail Away. I also liked Mr. Roboto, which is my board name at he-man.org. So far, I like 15 of the CD’s 17 tracks. Then I got into Rainbow, the hard rock act founded by Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple. And Ronnie James Dio was the band’s original vocalist. My favorite Dio era tune is Tarot Woman(from Rainbow: Rising); favorite Graham Bonett tune: Eyes of the World(from Down to Earth) and my favorite Joe Lynn Turner song is Power. It’s an “encouragement” song…along the lines of Stan Bush’s The Touch.
This year, Time-Life has released TWO massive CD sets I’d love to have. One is called The 70s Explosion and Classic Soft Rock. As they flashed the songs, I was overcome with memories because many of these songs I haven’t heard in about 25 years! :yikes: Some customers talked about these songs being from their high school years…these were my KINDERGARTEN years!:cheetaraveryhappy: Mostly recently, I’ve picked up Judas Priest’s Metal Works '73 to '93. Dire Straits - On The Night / Alchemy
Ok guys, quite excited about this thread due to music being a massive part of my life. I have a very broad taste of music spanning a range of genres.
Going to start off with 2 albums I love, both by Dire Straits. These are Live albums with performances of some of their best hits. I love Live music and I love Dire Straits so these albums are amazing for me. There are some beautiful adaptations and guitar solos. Stand out songs for me from Alchemy are Sutans of Swing, Telegraph Road and Tunnel of Love. From On the Night I would say Brothers in Arms, Money for Nothing, On Every Street and You and Your Friend (My favourite). I could not reccomend these albums enough!

I know it’s sort of a cop out answer, but anything that sounds good and is catchy. This is what I say in the profile sections of most forum because it’s just too hard to give a more definitive answer.
I love music in the top 40 pop charts, as well as music all the way from rock to classical.
Well, since I am an 80’s lover the thing I most hear are 80’s songs! I have about 200 mp3 that cover almost “everything”, but I am always discovering some gem that I forgot about. I just select them all, and randomize them in Windows Media Player.

What I really like about this songs is that some of them are lost in my memory and by hearing one in the radio, it’s like recovering some old artifact! Blowing the dust of it!
I also like to hear some Spanish singers/bands (Enrique Bunbury, Héroes del Silencio…) and the talented Andres Calamaro from Argentina.

Rath: I used to despise rap music myself, untill I finally realized that just like all the other music out there, actually some rap music has substance and purpose behind it, not just music about your metal chains or girls or what not. Once I found that substance in some rap I found that some of it was actually listentoable. Kiss is a great band good choice
Vintage: 80’s music rocks. I love the Police. YOu have the song the safety dance by Men Without Hats. That song is awesome

Salavatore: I love techno. Prodigy is actually one of my favorite bands. I try to check out what I can but I’m not to uptodate on any of the latest bands, perhaps you can point me in the right direction.

I am really into 70’s classic hard rock. I also like some 60’s rock like the Beatles and I do love some 80’s rock. Hehe we all grew up in the 80’s so that’s a gimme.

My all-time favorite KISS CD(perhaps my all-time favorite) is Music from the Elder. It is a concept album that tells the story of a mystic order that chooses a boy to become their champion against the evil Mr. Blackwell. I wanted the album 17 years ago, but it was out of print here in America. So I was forced to buy a Japanese import. I stil love it, even today.
As for rap, I like a few songs by Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince along with The World Without Me and Just Loose It by Eminem.

I listen to a little bit of everything but I’m normally picking R&B or Rap. I DJed for a while so I got used to everything. I guess I still am DJing part time :o)
It’s hard to narrow down - I like a little of just about everything, save for the rap and hip hop genres…just not my thang!
I like 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s pop music, hard rock, soft rock, metal, dance, alternative, techno, classic rock, brit pop, even a bit of country (older the better), you name it. I like to say I know what I like when I hear it, so anything’s possible.
I guess the majority of my interests are set against the backdrop of when I grew up - 80s-90s alternative & pop. I’ve almost always got some kind of music playing no matter what I’m doing.

Lastly, here’s a site where I keep track of all my CDs. It’s called cd tracker. The stuff under pre-ordered is actually my hubby’s stuff. This only counts things we have on disc…we probably have three times that volume in cassettes, LPs, 45 singles (hubby has an awesome collection of these - great old forgotten chestnuts from the 70s and 80s, mostly), and yes…even 8-tracks! My kingdom to get that digitally onto the computer and indeed my want list there is mostly old faves I have already, but in archaic formats.
I think this is fairly up-to-date.

Purssia good idea with the tracking. I should do that. We have almost the same tastes in music. I love how on you favorites list you have practially every Eels cd ever made, including the two albums from when he was just E. I think a lot of people don’t know who the eels are let alone the original 2 cds under the name E. That’s awesome as the Eels are an amazing band.

Cool. It’s great to run across someone who’s heard of E/Eels - that guy is brilliant Back in high school someone gave me a promotional tape that had a single and bits of other songs from his first CD on it, and I’ve been a fan ever since.
The tracker has just been a nice way to keep track of what I have, and it makes trades and such easier. When people ask what I have, I can just point them to that instead of rattling off a list of bands. Works for me!
My musical tastes…
:evil: I mostly listen to Black Metal from Europe.:evil: I also enjoy New wave like Depeche Mode. I have also developed a taste for Celtic Folk music. I have always enjoyed classical music of various styles. I am not overly fond of classic rock but I respect it. I despise rap and I am indifferent to country. All other styles fall somewhere in between with me.
Well, there are so much, but I’m gonna mention one band and album. It’s easily one of my favorites: At the drive-in “Relationship of command”.
I listen to everything, but like several others here, I stray away from hip hop and rap…though I do occassionally run into some that I can listen to for a while.
I recently started listening to a lot of country music, which is weird because I used to stereotype country and the “barn yard dosey-doe” type stuff, but I was totally wrong.
Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood are on almost every playlist I have.

My listening prefernces vary but I must say that Im not much of a fan of country music. There are a couple of country songs that I do like but for the most part I dont like it. I like some rap but truthfully it is not my main genre of music. Hip hop and Rap have gotten so mainstream lately that I have steered away from it. Certain artists like Mos Def, Jedi Mind Tricks and several other icnluding Dead Pres give you lyrics that absolute make you think of society and the world in general. R&B is my main listening genre but I also find myself listening a lot to Harry Connick Jr and Michael Buble.
